What are some good ideas for my son's first birthday party?

birthday gift ideas elderly image
Q. There won't be many small children there, mostly adults and elderly people, save for a few young cousins. I don't really have any ideas except to eat cake and open gifts. His party is going to be at a park. Should I just do the gift and cake thing then let everyone play in the park? Or should I have games and activities? Working off no real experience as it is my first baby and my sister's child only had a cake for his party

Answer
You don't really need any games, as your son is only one. These are more for when he's in school, and his friends will want to play games. Just remember, boys with birthday parties is much easier than girls. And less expensive!

For a family party, all your main responsibility is to feed everyone, open presents, and send thank you cards afterwards. And since it's in a park, that's a great place for the kids to play anyways. I wouldn't do any more than that.

And besides, if you purchase a lot of stuff, chances are it'll be a windy day anyways. I would just keep it simple. That's the great thing about family parties - everyone just sits around, talks & eats, & tell you what a gorgeous boy he is.

Can you give me ideas for gift baskets?

jacquie

I would like to make them for the people on my list this year. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Answer
This is my specialty, I have made gift baskets for most ocasions arranging from Baby showers, get well soon, child birthdays, valentine's,mothers/fathers day, welcome home baskets for a platoon of US MARINES, and Christmas.

KITCHEN
-If you are doing a gift basket for adult female/or elderly female that enjoys cooking/baking, you could buy mittens, pot holders, dish towels, burner covers, maybe a set of mixing spoons, whisks,a timer, spatula, recipe book, or recipe cards, measuring cups, cookie cutters (depending on the size of the basket) you may be able to add a coffee cup, you could add, hot chocolate mixes, a bag of peppermint sticks, cookie mix, sprinkles (christmas theme-trees, snowmen), and even icing. Who wouldnt love this? All of these items can be bought at a dollar store (which is still in good quality but in lower cost).

SCRAPBOOKING
-If you are doing a basket for someone who is into photography and scrapbooking, you could get a scrapbook, designed cutting scissors, hole puncher, ribbon, stickers, pens, borders, extra paper for the scrapbook, some adhesive, embellishments, and maybe a scrapbooking book to give them ideas. (again things that you can buy at a dollar store).
BATH
-If you are making a basket for a female that is into fashion and personal care, that loves to be pampered or you think needs a little pampering you would want to make a bath gift set for then get a towel and roll it up, tie a ribbon around it into a bow, add bath salts, bath oils, anything for bath or skin that pertains to aroma (relaxing). You can add bath sponges and exfoliators, bath brush (great Idea) facial masks, and bath lotions.

PERSONALIZED COLLECTIBLES
-If the person you are making a basket for is a collector of sorts, maybe Angels, Snowmen, Gingerbread Men, Apples, etc. You can find their specialty on nearly anything. You could find them on dishtowels, jewelry, note pads, stationary, handcrafted porcelains, hand painted ornaments, a do it yourself kit with the ornaments and paint in their theme. That gives them something to do.

CANDLES/SCENTS
-Do they love candles, and always have a wonderful smelling home? They would adore an arrangement of candles, in different shapes and sizes and scents. A few candle holders, or plates, dried potpourri, a bottle of potpourri gel or liquid, even a small potpourri burner would be of taste for this basket.

GARDENING
-Even though it is winter do you know someone who loves planting and tending to flowers and greenery? They would love New gardening gloves, small gardening tools like a shovel, shears, etc. seed packets, gardening books and magazines.

POPCORN/MOVIE
- This is someone who is always renting DVD'S and would rather to curl up and watch this than go out to the theatre.
Instead of a basket in this case, they would love a new large Popcorn bowl, Add several different kinds of Popcorn flavors, (butter, Cheddar, Caramel, ETC.) Add a few really good DVD'S, a box of tissues if they are emotional tear jerkers would be cute. Also, the candy that you get at the theatre in those square boxes, can be bought anywhere for less than a 1.00 these days, add sum Mike and Ike's, Milk Duds and Gummy Bears, then put your bag around this as you would a basket.

BIRDHOUSES
- They love bird watching and have a bird house. Get a hummingbird feader or birdhouse (small of course). For which ever you choose, get the appropraite feed, the sugar water or a small bag of bird seed, a book on bird care, you may also like to add some bird shaped stationary.

FISHERMAN
- Ok, maybe you are buying for someone who spends alot of time fishing. Then buy several different things out of that department (lures, hooks, worms, etc.), a plastic compartment to divide them, maybe a boning knife, fishing line, weights, a multi tool (kind of like a swiss army knife), a fishing magazing.

SEWING
-A smaller sized (travel sized) sewing box, thread, spools, straight pins, a pack of buttons, zippers, a ruler, scissors and cutting tools, needles, a lint brush or lint shaver, stain removal pens, pattern making supplies, maybe even a gift certificate to their favorite fabric store.

CRAFT
- Lots of Crafts. Different mini projects, glue sticks, glue gun, stencils, beads, paints, scissors, glitter, soap making, clay, etc. Magazines or books on craft ideas.

FUN

- Joke books, puzzle books, crosswords, Uno Cards, jigsaw puzzle, a funny dvd or movie, deck of cards, a few gag pranks ( like the baseball for the back window sticker), whoopie cushion, a shock pen, etc.

TEA
-Different flavored specialty teas, tea cups, a small teapot, either homemade cookies, or a few individual packs of cookies, different varieties of chocolate candies, a bag of sugar cubes, and a few lemons.

COFFEE
-A few coffee mugs, a couple bags of specialty groud coffees or gourmet coffees, creamer, a bag of sugar cubes, some sweetner packets, a bag of coffee stirers, top it off with some homemade cookies.

CHILDREN
-Stuffed animal as a center, hotwheels, or some toy you think they would enjoy. Coloring book, crayons, Activity book, reading book, education things (flash cards, etc. [depending on age]), and candy. These things could be put into a stocking instead of a basket as well.

BREAKFAST
- You wouldnt want to add sausages/meats and pershible items to these, due to the last minute stress for making them, the fact that those items could make the others soggy from moisture etc. So If you would like to make a basket for a couple or even a single person. You could buy a mug, or a couple, maybe a matching set. Buy medium size jars of jam, jelly, and perserves (DO A FEW DIFFEERNT VARIETIES) like strawberry perserves, grape jam, and apple jelly. Apple butter, mapple syrup and honey. Add a few varities of coffees and teas and bisquick or jiffy pancake mix. (all of these items can be found in the dollar section of most sotres, big lots, and other discount stores and dollar marts ) You could even buy a small pan for a 1.00 at the dollar store to add to the basket.

FOR EXPECTING MOM
- Are you making a christmas basket for someone who is expecting? You could make a special basket just for their pampering needs. This is probably something they wouldnt even get at their shower and they would enjoy it so. Include candles, anything relaxing like music cds and aroma therapy candles, pretty decorative bath soaps, bubble bath, maybe bedroom slippers, body sprays and lotions, cocoa butter or vitamin e cream (good for stretch marks), a loofah, bath brush or pretty sponge.

INFANT OR NEWBORN
- Are you making a christmas basket for a newborn baby or and Infant? If this is their first christmas you could buy a santa hat, bib, blanket or stuffed animal that says babys first christmas.Lotion, Powders, Body Wash, Shampoos, diaper rash cream, baby wipes, brush, clippers, bottles, bottle cleaner, onesies, booties, and a stuffed animal.

YOUNG GIRL
-Purse, scarf, mittens, earmuffs, nail polish, hair brush, hair ties, bows and ribbons, perfume, glitter, makeup, nail file, mirror, earrings, stickers, fancy pens, paper, journal, etc.

COUPLE
- A light blanket, pair of coffe mugs, hot cocoa mix, bag of marshmellows, a bag of pepermint sticks, a bag of hershey kisses, a few of their favorite candy bars, and a dvd for them to cuddle up and watch together.

FOR SHUT INS OR ELDERLY
-I've also found that baskets with everyday necessity type items and food are great for older people that don't really need any more knick-knacks. Make these as you would a care package, coffee, dried fruits, favorite fruit juice in a can, mints, candy, soap, socks, razor, shaving cream, cans of their favorite soups or food, mini loaves of breads or muffins, teas, soup mixes, noodle mixes, pasta, bag of their favorite chips.

ICE CREAM SUNDAE
- Maybe you are making a basket for a child that loves their ice cream, or even an adult that absolutely loves ice cream. Maybe brothers or sisters, etc. Get some ice cream bowls or sundae bowls, some spoons, and a scoop. Sprinkles, caramel, strawberry, chocolate, pineapple and cherry sauces, and almonds, of course any other toppings you think would be nice. Add a pack of nice cloth napkins.

MEXICAN FIESTA
-Do you know someone who loves mexican foods? Why not make them a Mexican fiesta basket? Find kitchen towels or mittens with chilli peppers on them.Include several bottles, jars, or envelopes of seasonings: chili powder, oregano, taco seasoning, paprika, garlic flakes or powder, fajita seasoning, cumin, dried chili peppers, jalapenos, hot sauce, etc. A Mexican cookbook, cd of Latin music, and dessert items are nice finishing touches.Add snack foods such as tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, black bean dip, cheese sauces, etc.
Add a small bag of black beans, navy beans, pinto beans, or garbanzo beans. Add a small bag of rice. You can also include the makings for Margaritas: Tequila, Triple Sec, Margarita mix, glass rimming salt, drink umbrellas, and fresh limes or lemons.

I've been with my current boyfriend for a year, we're both Juniors in High School. For his birthday I gave him a leather wallet with his initials engraved into it and for our one year anniversary i gave him a memory box which I engraved our initials and anniversary, and filled it with various sentimental objects to our relationship. He's not really the jewelry wearing type either... Any ideas?

Answer
You completely fail to tell us what his hobbies might be.

Does he enjoy swimming? Running? Camping? Hiking? Surfing? Snow skiing? Astronomy? music? Does he play a musical instrument?

How should we know what to get a young man when we don't know what his INTERESTS in life and hobbies might be?

What's the most effective way to send a package from the Philippines to Costa Rica?

daniel

I'm trying to send a birthday gift to a friend in Costa Rica. I've been checking out the internet on tips how to send packages to Costa Rica and the help I found haven't been that helpful. Please can anyone give me advice? I really don't want this package to get lost, as it has great sentimental value in it.
@clncarplz I've already talked to LBC and they can't deliver to Costa Rica, cause i'm also including a Mike Posner Album in the box.

Answer
I have always gotten packages mailed within the postal service without any problems. If your friend has a apartado (PO Box) that is good and it can be sent directly to there. If not, you might arrange for them to pick the package up at the post office if there near a town that has one. I use to do that before getting a box. Sometimes route carriers may not be as trustworthy as we wish. I had those packages sent to Lista de Correo to their name. They have to provide proof of who they are to receive it.

You will be asked to value your package... sometimes taxes are paid on things received. Value it low.... most people have no idea what you pay for things up there. The less the package weighs, the better. Or send it in two parts.

If you wish otherwise, the other comments here are fine. Just more costly... but faster. From Miami, its usually about 8 to 10 days. However, just so you know I got a Christmas card marked December 22 on July 4 ! That is highly unusual.

Rena M

Also, any ideas on what kind of a basket I could use to hold everything in?

Answer
I've 4 recommendations :
1) Buy a gift from amongst a hand-picked selection of the best Soccer Art created by some of the best artists and available on cool tshirts, posters, art prints, stickers... (whichever fits your budget) I mean really unique art, not available in retail stores.

I've mentioned a link to a hand picked selection of Soccer Art and Gifts, under sources
Also they are all customizable, you may customize them with your boyfriend's initials

2) A photo-sculpture of a favorite pic! : I've come across the product where you upload your favorite pic and your Photo is then Cut Out from durable acrylic to Create a One-of-a-Kind special gift / keepsake, a photo-sculpture! Thats not all, you may Choose 5 forms for it : a Sculpture with Stand, Magnet, Pin, Ornament, or Keychain; and you may choose 4 sizes ranging from small to colossal!

I'm providing a link to it under sources below

3) Dai Bando Custom Keds : Fully customizable high tops and low tops keds - you may add initials, unlimited text, unlimited photos at no extra charge to the keds - they are great as a jeanswear or for sports

I'm providing a link to the Dai Bandos shop under sources below

4) You could visit the 'Create Your Own Now' store and create a personalized gift for your boyfriend. In my experience, personalized gifts always make for a 'very special' gift

Again, I'm providing a link to it under sources below

Any ideas about what to do after food at a dinner party (games etc)/ general suggestions for during the party?

luckylady1

It is my birthday dinner and will be at my house, I'll be 17 and there are around 10-15 people coming.
It is my first time hosting a dinner so I'm new to this!
I'd just like any suggestions for any fun/different things that can be done during or after the food.
Any nice food/drink ideas are welcome too!
Thanks.

Answer
Happy birthday! Here are some ideas you might think about:

1. Since you are hosting a dinner, why not invite a local chef or culinary student to come and provide a "cooking lesson" and tasting for you and your guests? A "hands on" affair will allow all guests to help prepare the meal and can be fun.
2. Have your own "birthday card", giant poster that guests can sign when they come in. A nice momento!
3. Gift bags for guests are a must: for the ladies, nail polish, bath gel, fizzy bath balls, gift cards etc. are in order. For the guys, aftershave, lotions, gift cards etc.
4. Giving back: Have a theme of your party about also giving back to the community. Instead of gifts, have guests bring food items for your local food bank. Plan on bagging things up and delivering them either during the party (or maybe have them picked up?) or the next day.
5. You're never to old for a pinata. And, since you get to fill them yourselves, you can add what kind of candy and surprises you want to the insides.
6. Games: Pictionary, Clue, etc. are great. Or get a Wii and have a contest playing guitar!
7. Plan for an evening at a skating rink or the zoo! Or go to a play/musical or to a club for "under 21's" later in the evening.
8. Create your own "cakes" by making cupcakes and letting everyone decorate their own. Have a contest and winner gets a prize.

At any rate, have fun!

A few weeks ago i was in a really bad accident and i wasn't able to get my best friend a birthday present right away. I'm better now and she is on vacation in NC so I wanted to get her something big while she's gone. I don't have much money to spend so it has to be under $100. She is kind of girly but she is really into gymnastics so she can be sporty when she wants to. Please give me some good ideas, I'm really stuck on this! Thanks:)

Answer
You could always go with home made items. Another option caould be getting her something from Bath and Body Works or something like that. A little set of a really good fraguence is what every girl wants and needs. i LOVE getting those for my birthday. Giftcards are another good idea too( : You dont to over do it with the cash on the carrd but any little bit counts. If she is in to gymnastics, you can make her a gift set that is gymnastic themed. I hope this helps! ( :

What's a good present for my mother's 60th Birthday?

My mom is a really fun person with an expensive taste in almost everything. What are some great present ideas for a mom's birthday? Shes turning 60 so id like to give her something cool, memorable, or meaningful that wont completely break the bank. Under $100 please! Thanks.

Answer
Try a massage coupon, or a spa treatment!

Gift-cards for online shopping places like amazon.com are cool and appreciated too.

Ask your mom what she needs and wants- I always find that to be effective.

Good luck!

What toys does your 9 yr old daughter enjoy?

birthday gift ideas 5 yr old girl

birthday gift ideas 5 yr old girl image

Coco & Boo

I need ideas..my daughter's birthday is coming up and she really isn't interested in most toys now like dolls, kitchen stuff, things like that. The only thing I know of is video games and Webkins....but she has enough of those..she wants toys, but what can I get here that she will get alot of enjoyment from? If you have a 9 yr old girl....what does she like?

Answer
My 9 year old niece loves all of those plus baby dolls and all that Hannah Montana, High School musical, Camp Rock stuff.

In terms of buying her toys it's getting to the point where it's getting hard to find stuff for her because she has reached that "tweenager" age so we rely heavily on what she tells us but we encourage her to think of stuff other than the usual Webkinz, DS/Wii game answers - we'll leave those gifts for friends and the rest of the family.

Her answers usually include stuffed animals, posters, CD/DVDs and new clothes. She also has no qualms with receiving Gift cards for her favourite stores since she loves to shop.

It's really a tough age to shop for because you are usually stuck grappling between "I don't know what to buy" vs. "Do I really want to buy her that toy she asked for thats for ages 5+" type deliema.

Ask her opinion, give her store flyers to look at or have her visit some of her favourite stores websites to see what she might be interested in.

what is a good little gift to give a 5 yr girl?

Hallie

okay so its my boyfriends sisters 5th birthday this weekend and i want to give her a nice gift. but im not sure what i appropriate for a 5 yr old girl, ideas?

Answer
You can't go wrong with art supplies. Then, she can make whatever she wants. Children who make art with any frequency ALWAYS need more paper, and often new crayons or markers, as well. Glitter pens can increase the fun, as can things like special scissors that cut in different shapes:

http://www.amazon.com/Crazy-Shape-Scissor-Set/dp/B000GKXY4S

You can also buy a kit to make something like a doll, a door hanger, or a potholder. They are available at places like Michael's, or online.

I sometimes enjoy giving books and clothes, as well, but only if I know the child well. You have to be familiar with what they already have, and what they like, to give these things.

Funny Birthday Presents for a Woman turning 50?

KP8

What are some ideas for a funny gift to give a woman turning 50 years old? I know there are some good ideas out there!

Answer
I'm a-fixin' to turn 50 in August, and as much as I've tried to dissuade hubby, I can't get him to not prepare some 'event' with my family.
I hated turning 30 (asked fam to ignore me-they did) very happy
I turned 40 and was positive and had a nice dinner.
Now that I'm turning 50, I feel bummed again like before I turned 30.
So, all I can say is to consider the sensativities of the person, and if they're real outgoing and party-like, then bring it on!
If they are private, then please respect that and keep it low-key.
For my 40th, family & friends did this:
Deck of cards for 40 yr old
Walking stick that had a rear-view mirror attached
"over the hill" baseball cap
stuffed weiner dog that everyone signed
silly glasses for seeing
black icing on cake
candles that would not stop burning
false teeth
"horn" for helping to hear
Guide of Retirement Communities
Denture Cream, Suppositories, other type personal effects

Have fun!

But then I think it might be weird, like i should paint something different or buy him something instead. Maybe weird might be the wrong word, but i feel like it wouldnt be the best option for a birthday gift from daughter to father.

Special gift ideas for husband who has same birthday as our baby son?

emmablue32

My husband shares his birthday with our son who is turning one. I am looking for a special gift for him in some way signifying this bond. Does anyone have any ideas? Thank u :)

Answer
I did this for my husband for Father's Day----I got him a regular gift (a baseball cap he wanted) and then I made him an AWESOME card! I just folded a piece of construction paper in half (if I would have known I was going to do so much I would have used some good heavy duty paper!)...You can put Happy Birthday Daddy on the front and put your sons hand prints with finger paints.....int he middle I ordered a collage photo from Walgreen's and I taped it in there...it had a few special memories my husband and son shared (you can do him holding him int he hospital and sleeping on the couch or whatever you want....I glued that to one side and on the other side I typed out this poem

In all things I try to do,
I want do do them just like you.
I'm watching every move you make,
And trying to take each step you take.

ALthough right now I'm sort of small
When I'm with you I feel ten feet tall.
Like you, I want to be brave and smart,
Cause I love you, Daddy with all my heart.

When I am older, I'll be so glad
If I grow up to be...
Just like dad!!!

I went to the craft store and really make it cool with all kinda little design things on there. It was pretty special! :) I mean obviously you don't have to do exactly this...but I think there is nothing more special than a homemade gift from your son :) (and mom) Good luck!

Edit---I do realize that this doesn't mention them sharing a birthday, but I love that poem and homemade gifts and I thought it was special !

My birthday is in April.
I need Ideas.
Thanks.

Answer
I'm an April baby too. Well, I'm not sure what you're into but this sounds like a great idea:
SPA PARTY!
A few simple touches can turn any place into a spa retreat. You can do a manicure party, pedicure party, makeover party, facials party, massage partyâthe choices are endless.

The key is that you want to establish a spa-like vibe with green plants, fragrant flowers like lilies and roses, stacks of fluffy white towels and bowls of fresh fruit.

Put out lots of soft pillows and blankets as well as magazines so guests can really feel like theyâve gotten away from it all. Plug in a small electronic waterfall and ditch the lights in favor of candles scented with lavender or eucalyptus.

Tell your guests to bring a big robe and slippers, so they can deck themselves out like they would at a real spa.

Visit a beauty supply store to stock up on nail polishes, face masks, foot and nail files and hair conditioning treatments.

Renting the services of a massage therapist is a luxurious gift for your guests, and those with smaller budgets can buy a foot bubbler (mini hot tubs for your feet) to give your party that decadent spa feel.

You can even give a beauty lesson at your party by teaching your guests to make their own face masks and scrubs using oatmeal, egg whites, honey, sugar and avocado.

What are some good ideas for my son's first birthday party?

She is single, no children, great person. She's semi spiritual and loves theater, dinning out. Young at heart! Beautiful lady and a good friend of mine who I have worked with for 13 yrs.

Answer
Invite her to join you for a night out dinner and go to the theater.

Give her an experience:
Cooking class
Art class
Hot Air balloon ride

Think is she ever mentions "I love going to that place" or "I have always thought about going ... but didn't want to go alone"

Then see about making it happen.
I found more ideas here - maybe one will work for you.

What would an woman from ancient rome have for pleasures? Private and public?

What would an woman from ancient rome have for pleasures? Private and public?

Ideas? Fact?

Answer
Women of the upper classes mixed freely in society, and would go out to parties, banquets, visiting friends etc. Women of all classes might go to the theatre or to the chariot races and gladiatorial contests.

Upper class Roman women were generally well educated, and might take pleasure in reading books, in writing, and in making music.

Women would also enjoy going to the public baths. Some of the larger baths had seperate sections for men and women, otherwise women would normally go in the mornings, and men in the afternoons.

Roman women participated in private religious cults, which might have been pleasurable.

There were festivals and holidays when everyone would have a good time. Saturnalia, at midwinter, was a festival when everyone went to parties, feasted, and exchanged gifts.

The Lupercalia, in February, was a festival associated with fertility. Young men would run through the streets of Rome whipping any women with thongs of goatskin. This was supposed to promote fertility. Depending on their temperement, the women might have found this pleasurable.

In June there was a festival of Vesta in the Roman Forum, for eight days married women were allowed to enter the shrine to worship.

There were a great many other festivals during the course of the year, at which women probably enjoyed themselves as much as men did.

Although it is true that respectable Greek women were generally expected to stay at home (as a comment above states) they did go out to attend religious festivals, and to go to the theatre. Women played a very important part in some festivals, as in the Partheneia, for instance, when the birthday of the goddess Athena was celebrated in Athens. A new robe was woven for the great statue of Athena by young women of Athens, and was carried to the Parthenon in a great procession (freizes showing women participating in this activity can be seen in the British Museum in London).

I'm 21. I'm a high functioning autistic and I'm a student at a university. I'm the most respectful, faithful, honorable and pure hearted guy on the planet. Unfortunately, my high functioning autism really hurts me, because I was also born with a heart so romantic that if you were to take every great romantic from history and multiply their combined strength of heart by 1000, you might get a quarter of the sense of heart that I have. Every breath I have ever taken, every action I have ever done has been for one purpose: to build a life that allows me to care and provide for the woman who stands at my side. Without her, my wealth, power, values, and very life itself will mean nothing. I cannot contemplate the idea of being alone all 80 years that I have left. Pets and even friends aren't nearly enough. Most girls ignore me, which doesn't make any sense considering I molded myself into the absolutely perfect guy. So I made a decision. I'll keep trying for 40 years or so. But on my sixtieth birthday if things haven't changed, I'm going home to My Father. The Lord Almighty. I'm not crazy, and I'm waiting until most of my family and friends die before I wipe myself from this world. I can't bear the thought of not finding the love I so treasure and cherish. For those of you who think I'm just the typical 21 year old guy who just wants a woman for sex think again. It means more to me when she stares into my eyes and smiles than if she was naked. True a woman's body is a magnificent work of art, but it isn't the main prize. Her soul, heart and loyalty is. Sex is a gift from God to bring two married people closer together. And for those of you who would try to suggest the thought that I'm gay, I find guys extremely unattractive and worthless. I threatened one to within an inch of his life who chose his words poorly to my sister in high school. I'm not an imminent suicide risk, I have about 20-40 years. I'm giving myself a chance thanks to my looks. But if I fail, I'll face life without love, and that will wrack me with indescribable pain everyday of my life. I can't live a life like that, not when I'm such a perfect guy and know I deserve love. Either I'll find her here on earth, or I'll join my Father in heaven and have those desires taken away from me so that I no longer suffer. But I'm naturally socially blinded and I can't read people well at all. So I need to know, if I wiped myself from the earth so that I no longer suffered from the very thing autism denies me, would it be viewed as respectable? Few truly have a romantic heart. And no guy on the Earth has one as strong as mine. I tried becoming a jerk like all the other guys, that thought process lasted 10 seconds. I am a born romantic, and I can't change that. Of course once I find her, this contingency plan will be discarded for good. I'll be overjoyed for life. And I'll make sure she is too. Each day will be more joyful than her last, and she will be so happy she will forget how to cry. So is my planning this as a plan B as it were 20 years from now an understandable thing to do, given how I feel? Or is it still wrong? It won't be until after my looks fade that I'll put this plan into effect. I have 20-40 years. I just don't want to suffer longer than neccessary. I'll make sure my family is detached from me, and that my friends no longer remember me before I do it. No one else will be hurt. And I also know God will forgive me. I have such a love and compassion for women and children that without this one gift, I will completely lose the will to live. I read to children when i worked in a library in high school. I just wasn't born with the capability or strength of heart to live single.

Answer
I really hope you find someone, you sound like an incredible guy :)

birthday party for a 14 year old girl ideas?

birthday gift ideas 5 year girl

birthday gift ideas 5 year girl image

Were having a party AT HOME for a 14 year old girl, its scheduled for early afternoon ending evening time with family. Many ideas are out the door since her friends not involved and will take place at home. Were thinking of hiring a magician but seems too baby-ish, anyone with any good ideas please share.

Answer
I moved a lot in my youth, and many times I didn't have many friends for birthday parties, and had them just with my family. They were some of the funnest ones, too.

This is my suggestion - and my favorite:

Have everyone who is going to be at the party (Mom, dad, siblings, birthday girl, etc.) go to the dollar store, and each person spend $5 worth of random items. So that everyone accumulates 5 things. Try to check out separately so it is more of a surprise.

When you get home, have everyone grab a few sections of a newspaper, and individually wrap each gift, then set on a table. Those will be the 'prizes' for the games you guys can play. It's really fun because you don't know what is in most of them (sometimes I would try to find the ones I picked out because I liked the things I chose lol).

You can play 1 game, or several. At my party we would place a dice game, where everyone takes turns trying to roll doubles. If you got doubles, you could pick a prize, if not you had to pass the dice to the next person. Or if you have any board games, those work nicely too, and make the party last longer.

Hope this helps, and Happy Birthday to the birthday girl :)

What is a good gift to send in the mail ?

. . &p#@l!

Something small, not tooo big, and something that would be nice for a 14 year old girl birthday present

Thanks in advance
Shes loves books but shes probally read most of the ones i know and shes not very a gamer, she loves the roxy brand tho.
How much do you think it would cost to post a book of clothes from Auckland to Tauraunga ?

Answer
What stuff is she in to, etc, what's your budget? maybe like a teen magazine subscription.. like girlfriend, dolly. Jewelery and accerories, clothing if you know her style well and her sizes.. A book?
If it's pricey you can go for a ipod, celphone, camera, ds, psp.. Teens usualy want the latest technology lol.
Vouchers, for a store they like, for anything really depending on interests..
If she's like quite girly you can get her something like a hair curler or hair straigtener if she doesn't have one, make-up, nail polish etc etc.. hair accesories like hair extensions or something.
If she's into like disney.. can get her something to do with miley cyrus, jonas brothers etc. Theres a little bit of merchandise around.
It all depends on her interests and what she's like.
Living in different cities, you can get her something you can only get in Auckland.
Just some ideas, theres lots of things that are good to send in the mail.. if i knew more about her i could porbbaly give better answers.

edit: i order clothes off trademe alot, i usualy pay like a average of around $5 or just over for courier shipping from anywhere in NZ if the clothing item(s) isn;t big or isn;t a bulk lot, to give you an idea of shipping costs.
You could ask her what she'd like.. would ruin the surprise, but least you'll be getting her something you know she wants and she'll be garenteed to be happy with it. Like there may be a particular book she wants, and you can add in something small that you picked out for her aswell. But yeah you could go with the roxy if you have an idea of what she;d wear.. or a smallish handbag, watch, etc, from the brand would be good too.

What can you do for a Christmas Birthday?

munsy

My wife's birthday is on Christmas day so she has been short-changed all her life. I would like to ditch Christmas this year and make December 25th just about her and her birthday. Any ideas?
I guess I should have been clearer. We are both in support of ditching Christmas. Our kids will be with their other parents so this is the perfect opportunity to give her a "birthday". The problem is, with so much being closed that day, I am trying to come up with meaningful (and feasible) ideas.

Answer
My brother's birthday is day after christmas and every year he got short-changed. Aunties, etc. wold say "Oh, junior, we got you a bigger present because it is for both Christmas and your birthday". a kid doesn't think that's very cool. A kid - and an adult -doesn't care if you spent $5. or $25. so long as the gift is cool. Once we became adults I made a special point of always giving my brother a separate birthday gift - and NEVER used Christmas wrapping!! (like some people did). If you ditch Christmas, you are still short-changing her, dummy-cakes. You do the whole Christmas thing as usual but maybe you buy a very personal gift , set your alarm clock for 12:01 December 25th, wake her up with a kiss and a glass of champagne and say "Happy Birthday, darling, sweetie, lambie-pie,cuddles. This moment is just for you because I love you!" Trust me, all day Christmas she'll be bragging to all her friends and relatives about the most romantic, thoughtful guy in the world - YOU!
**Just read your add-on, and i still urge you both not to "ditch" Christmas. Been there, done that - and for the same reasons you gave. It was a disaster. Two of us in Vegas, both missing the meaning and feelings of Christmas. Start your own new traditions - things you can later share with your children from the extended families because some years you will have the kids. Buy an artificial tree, one that is exquisite, one that you can now afford because you aren't feeding a horde of people for dinner. Plan future decorating and start with this year's purchase, in following years, include those kids. You need to show the children that Christmas is important and that you are celebrating so that they want to be with you on alternate years. Whether you are feeling like a "family" this year or not, you really ARE a family, just missing a few members on this one occasion. The earlier suggestion would still hold true, but then please have a wonderful Christmas as well! You can always have a birthday cake for dessert.

My little girl is about to turn 2 years old. She is special need with cerebral palsy and is hemiplegic, only uses left side of body with little coordination. She is already getting a wagon with the flip up seat and I am making a harness for her to be able to sit in it. What are some other fun toys she can enjoy despite her disabilities?

Maybe a swing but not a normal swing, the ones with the more supportive seats (aimed at 1-3 year olds), sold in toys r us smyths and argos, and a shallow paddling pool or ball pit. Smyths is a good shop to look around in because it has a lot of outdoor toys for babies and toddlers so she can take part in activities that other children her age wouldx

I have a little girl getting ready to turn one and need help for birthday gift ideas..

Answer
A pop-up tent and/or tunnel. Our daughter has both, and totally loves them. They fold up neatly for storage, and are unique enough that someone else probably won't show up with the same gift. They are also useful for a long time (my six year old niece, my three year old niece, and my daughter all love to play with them!). We got our daughter's at Target.
One of our daughter's other favorite gifts that she has received is a little soft photo album, which we filled with pictures of her family. We put mom and dad, grandparents, aunts/uncles/cousins, and even a picture of our dog in it. She loves to look at the pictures, and can name everyone in them. It's a nice way for her to remember family members that live far away, and it's nice for her to have a photo album that I don't mind her carrying around!

I'm anti-bratz so please suggest other gift ideas. Thanks
futuretopgunn101: I don't know her all that well. She's my husband's niece and she lives about 2 hours away. I don't have a phone number for my sister in law in order to ask her.

Answer
i really think books are the best present to give. if you have an idea of what she likes, you could get her a book along the lines of something she's particularly interested in. otherwise, there are great books for that age that you can choose from --just some quick suggestions would be "Molly Moon's Incredible Book of Hypnotism," by Georgia Byng, or "Mandy," by Julie Andrews Edwards or one of the Chicken Soup for the Soul books for kids or preteens. I just think books are such a great gift!!
