gift ideas for a 4 year old?

Snowlion

ok, a close friend of mine recently moved in with me and she has a 3 year old little boy. This child has all the clothes and toys in the world. He wants for nothing. I am looking for some ideas on what to get him for his upcoming 4th birthday. I would prefer something electronic but its not required. Any ideas?

Answer
Instead of getting him a toy of sorts, how about a movie package...... 2 tickets to the theater to see a movie with popcorn & candy & slurpee.....

or how about books..... or how about a CD walkman with a KIDZBOP cd (ask the staff...they'll know what it is).....or how about a wallet with $10 in it.........

but if you're looking for the toy, how about the LeapFrog toys - they are GREAT. I don't know any kid who hasn't liked it. My 6 year old son also loves his Gameboy and VideoNow!!!

Good Luck!

Gift ideas for a 4 year old girl?

Lauren728

I am at a loss for gift ideas for my 4 year old daughter. My husband and I typically get 1 "big" present along with a bunch of little things. For example, for her birthday, we got her a power wheels convertible as the big gift, and things like clothes, movies, and play makeup as the small gifts.

I am having a hard time thinking of something to get for her for Christmas. I am looking for something under $150 if possible.

Any ideas??

Answer
i would head to the disney store. i teach 4 year olds and they are obsessed with disney and anything princess.

does she have a kitchen center?
does she have a little tykes play house?
does she have a kids size table and chair set?

princess costumes, play high heels, cash register and shopping cart, v smile and smartridges, tent...

i also have my own 4 year old little boy and i had trouble finding him something big to get this year too. he didn't really want anything big though...he has all the big stuff so i stuck to lots of smaller things. he just wants a lot of things. he doesn't have the concept of how much things cost yet.

hope you find something great! SD

Birthday gift ideas for the wife?

joe a

I'd like to do something different or special for the wife this year. Although jewelery comes to mind, I don't want to go that route since I couldn't buy her a diamond ring without her knowing (she controls the money). Money is not the issue, but I want this to be a surprise and also it's about the sentiment more than the price of the gift. Let me tell you more about her.

She's a house wife with three small kids at home (all both of ours). I work abroad often which leaves her at home alone to take care of the household by herself. Although she's extremely attractive, she's an introvert who spends most of her time at home with either me and/or the littlest one. For this reason, I was thinking of some sort of spa treatment were she can be pampered away from all of us. Ladies, please help with this one. I want it to be memorable especially since our 10th anniversary is only a few months away.
Thanks for your answer Craig. Lovely to see someone so cultured and caring such as yourself trying to help their fellow man. I'll make sure to ask you for relationship advice since you seem to know everything about me.

Answer
Well, her is something I did. I just wanted to make the whole day special for her. So I told her I had to leave early for work at like 5 am. I got up, went to the garage where I had hidden 38 potted tulips I had bought the night before (tulips were her favorites), I arranged them all around the front porch in the shape of a big heart. Then I left knowing that when she went to the front door to get the boys to school she would find them. I then picked up a picnic lunch at a local deli and surprised her by taking her to a picnic lunch at a local park. I told her not to worry about supper, I had arranged for my mother to take the boys after school and took her for a romantic dinner and dancing at romantic restaurant in Boston and then to a hotel for a night away from home. The only bad part was having to go home the next day! Why pay someone to pamper my wife when no one knew how to do it better than I? Good Luck, its just a suggestion and it made plenty of memories!

I need a 47th birthday gift Idea for my wife.?

PM

Our 20th wedding anniversary is also on the same day as her birthday. I have already purchased a platinum / diamond eternity ring for our anniversary. I would like to give something to celebrate her.

Answer
47 is not one of those biggies, but I appreciate your wanting to recognize both. How about over your anniversary dinner which, I am sure, you will have, you give her a card with something along the lines of, "Next weekend we'll be at <insert the name of a bed and breakfast or some weekend get away> to celebrate your birthday." Or something to that affect. I doubt she needs something material.

What are some gift ideas/gifts for a 22 yr old female?

Sara

My friends birthday is coming up and im not too sure what to get her. We live in the DC area so there are plenty of options. Last year I took her to the amusement park since it was our first summer here. We go to lunch and get pedicures and manicures regularly and we always just switch who pays so that wont really work either. She takes a ton of pictures so the ideas with photos of us have already happened. She loves shopping but pretty much has everything she needs including jewelry or body lotion products/perfume. I am thinking about doing a murder mystery dinner but dont really know where to find information on that. so any other ideas would be very helpful in case that falls through!! Thanks!!!

Answer
How about heated stone massages!! They are sooooooooo worth it! Me and my good friend just treated ourselves to them on mother's day.

Need advice dealing with negative, toxic family members?

Nenita

I am a female in my early 20s. My issue is that some of my female family members are toxic. I'm sure a lot of people have this problem, but I need advice as to how to deal with them. Let me explain some of the stuff I'm dealing with so you can get a better idea. I have issues with 3 females, my mom, her older sister, and her older sisters daughter. I have other female aunts and cousins but they tend to keep to themselves and don't partake in drama. My moms sisters daughter, is almost twice my age, and has grown kids of her own. She used to smoke crack but shes been clean for a few years. She just hates me, plain and simple. She's not my favorite person, but I've tried being nice. I've bought her birthday gifts and went to her birthday party, etc. I am not entirely sure why she hates me, it started when I was a teenager. Frankly, I think she resents me and is envious of me. I don't want to sound conceited, but my life (so far) has gone much smoother and positive that hers did. I have no kids, I have a good relationship with my boyfriend, we have a nice apartment, and most recently I got signed to a reputable modeling agency in my area. It isn't a huge famous agency, but I'm still excited. But my cousin however, she had drug problems, she never started college because she got pregnant when she was 18 and kept having kids till age 37. She lives in the same house she moved into when she was 18, a house her dad payed for. She treats her husband and her kids badly, in my opinion. Anyways, you can tell she really doesn't like her life. So she takes it out on other people, like me. The last time we spoke, I was trying to leave my aunts house when she opened my car door, started screaming cuss words at me, saying that I am a little b*tch and everyone hates me, that I do not love my mother, and she just kept spouting off all this rude stuff. After yelling at her for a bit, I decided it wasn't worth it, and I drove off. It saddens me that a 40 year old acts like a 16 year old, to a 22 year old. Then there's her mother, my aunt. She doesn't really hate me, but she resents me a little as well, I think for similar reasons. Also, she is constantly making condescending and negative comments. She isn't as bad as her daughter, but she does seem to always feel the need to "be right" and prove people wrong. Especially ME, for some reason. You can tell by her statements that she is trying to make others feel inferior, whether she realizes it or not. It is never constructive criticism, its always a snide, smarta** remark. Her and my mom hang out together, so they gossip about people. In my opinion, my aunts negativity rubs off on my mom. My mom is already an emotional person, she lets EVERYTHING get to her. She is crying about something every day, she doesn't even understand what I mean when I tell her to think positive and remove the negative thoughts from her mind. She thinks I'm being mean and insensitive, and then she guilt trips me. When all I am trying to do, is get her to stay positive. Then when she gets together with my aunt, the drama and negativity just compounds. My moms emotional, co dependent nature latches onto my aunts controlling obsessive nature. I really feel like their relationship is toxic. So all of this, gets transferred to me in various ways. Whether its condescending, snide comments on Facebook from my aunt or cousin, or my mom calling me 3 times a day to cry about something, It is EXHAUSTING. How can I deal with this? I know I can't change them, so how can I change the way I deal with things so they wont effect me as much??

Answer
Just don't be around them more than you can help. When they say or do something mean to you, just smile and say, "I sorry you feel that way" or "I hope you feel better."
Unfriend on FB anyone who isn't friendly! Duh!
Be supportive of your mom by trying to get her in a better frame of mind. Give her positive thinking books to read. Refuse to listen to he being negative. Tell her to just write all her negative things down, tear up the paper, and flush it down the toilet of but it in the garbage. Help her plan a healthy life style also. Of course, if she want cooperate, you really can't do anything but keep being positive and telling her you hope she will get better.
Personally, I like "How's that working out for you?" for a questions that helps other redirect.
I also tell people i will pray for them and I do it. I am not sure whether they will accept the help they might get from that but it helps me.
Nobody can make you feel bad without your permission.

You change the way you deal with things by doing what you know is right. Dwell on what is beautiful and healthy. Exercise, eat, pray, and meditate in ways that work for you.
You can't stop the birds from flying over your head, but you don't have to let them nest in your hair, And if while flying over they happen to drop a little s--- on you, a nice shampoo will fix it.

best friend 16th birthday gift ideas?

J B

budget $40

anyone have ideas about what i should give my best friend for her birthday. like gift/take her somewhere. something original/fun. she surprised me by taking me to the britney spears concert. ideas please

thanks!

Answer
Well if she took you to a bs concert you should splurge a bit on her gift.I went to the concert too and the cheapest ticket was $98.I usualy spend about $50 on bff bday gifts and esp since this is sweet 16 maybe u should spend a bit more?just a suggestion :)

anyway if shes girly buy her juicy jewlery the cheapest come around 40.If not a nice bottle of perfume would do too.Your best bet is to get her some sort of a makeup palette, lotions, good lipgloss, diff OPI nail polishes and that kinda good girly stuff. She'll deff love it. Mix up diff beauty things and put it in a pretty birthday bag or a tote if u buy her one.

if shes not girly get her a music cd that you know she'll like or a book in her interest. since she's your best friend the sweetest thing you can do is get a few pictures of you guys and buy one of those frames where you can fit a couple of pictures (in the same of diff sizes) and put pictures of you guys in there.my best friend did that last year for me along with candy and a cd.it was deff the best gift i ever got bc it had meaning.i <3 it.

good luck and try the picture frame idea :)

Birthday ideas for a 6 year old boy?

Chanel

So my little brother is turning 6 in less than 2 weeks, and I need ideas on a birthday party for him. This year both my parents and I have been busy to we had no time to book anything.
Any ideas??
I remember him soo loving Spider Man. I know for a fact he loves any Marvel hero. Like Hulk or Superman. Something like that or Transformers. He's got a thing for that too.
Andd the last thing I can think of is Wrestlers, like WWE things.
I think I might just go with bounce houses.
But he's had that before.
I want to spice it up a big, something that'll have the kids talking about it when he goes back to school, you know?
I was also thinking about putting one of those velcro walls?
I don't know. Any ideas of how to spice up bounce houses??(:
Please and thank you(:
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh and thank you to everyone that's helped!(:
bit* not big, my bad.

Answer
Cup cake party!!! Offer plain cupcakes for the kids to frost themselves and have the birthday boy choose his favorite! Pass the parcel was big in my family; Wrap a small gift (a dollar store jump rope, kite or the like in layers and layers of newspaper with a small candy in each layer. Pass it around to music stopping at the strategically planned spot of each kid and they unwrap one layer, the last one gets the prize. Balloon pop was fun too but not if you have small kids as it can be loud! Again the dollar store! get a bag of army men, some cool small toys, squirt guns, super bouncy balls, you know little boy stuff. Number a few brown paper bags according to the amount of stuff you have and open all the packages dump the toys in. blow up 1/2 your balloons balloons and in the other 1/2 of them, before you blow them up insert a number corresponding to the bag numbers. one of two things can happen - dump all the balloons out and let them go at it popping them all at once or one at a time let them pick a balloon from the lot and pop it to see if there is a number. they get to have a blast sitting on and popping balloons and having the extra bonus of picking a "mystery prize" Movie mania is cool too - have a few friends over let them rent their fave movies, top their own pizza (use the pop n fresh dough) decorate their own cupcakes and let em eat watch and sleep as they wish! Have fun! Good Luck!

How do I throw a 30th Birthday Party for my single friend?

Help me ou

My single girlfriend is turn 30 this year. Does anyone have an clever ideas for decorations or a theme?

Answer
I'm single and also turning 30 this year. Hey, maybe you're my friend and this party is for me! ha! just kidding... ;)

If she's anything like me, and dreads turning 30, the last thing I want is to have people rubbing my new age-bracket in my face. Who wants to be reminded of how old they are getting when they're still single? So forego any "Over-the-Hill" type of decorations, or anything referring to "Old Maid" (I absolutely HATE that term!!!) Here are some parties that she may like:

-Honestly, I think a dinner party with her closest friends would be the best. Make reservations at her favorite restaurant and make a fun night of it. Take pictures!
-If she hates the thought of turning 30, do a "Happy 1st Anniversary of turning 29" party. Have 29 pink candles and 1 white candle decorating a white-frosted cake.
-Decorate the party like the 70's since that was the year she was born and have everyone wear 70's attire and play 70's music. Have 70's style posters decorating the room and maybe a history board of pictures of her growing through the years.
-Or if she's a fan of the 80's, throw an 80's style party, same idea as the 70's version...
-Or perhaps if she's a movie buff, have a party of "Big Movie Hits of the Last Three Decades". Have everyone dress up as their favorite movie character over the last 30 years.
-Maybe have people bring inexpensive gifts in thirty's. Thirty candy bars, thirty birthday cards about turning 30, a mixed CD with 30 songs on it, etc. Let your guests be the creative ones too.
-Murder mystery parties are awesome.
-Perhaps if you and her close friends can afford it, go on a road trip somewhere and celebrate. Vegas, Atlantic City, etc.

I don't suggest strippers or strip clubs. To me, that's fun in your early 20's. Turning 30 is a big step and the party shouldn't be reduced to something silly, unless she would like that...? *shrug*

***The most important part: Whatever you decide to do, invite men and women. If any of your guests have any potentional, great single men, bring them along! The more the single men, the merrier, right? ;)

Good luck! I'm sure she (and everyone else) will have a blast! And how thoughtful of you to do this for her! :)

What is a good gift to send in the mail ?

. . &p#@l!

Something small, not tooo big, and something that would be nice for a 14 year old girl birthday present

Thanks in advance
Shes loves books but shes probally read most of the ones i know and shes not very a gamer, she loves the roxy brand tho.
How much do you think it would cost to post a book of clothes from Auckland to Tauraunga ?

Answer
What stuff is she in to, etc, what's your budget? maybe like a teen magazine subscription.. like girlfriend, dolly. Jewelery and accerories, clothing if you know her style well and her sizes.. A book?
If it's pricey you can go for a ipod, celphone, camera, ds, psp.. Teens usualy want the latest technology lol.
Vouchers, for a store they like, for anything really depending on interests..
If she's like quite girly you can get her something like a hair curler or hair straigtener if she doesn't have one, make-up, nail polish etc etc.. hair accesories like hair extensions or something.
If she's into like disney.. can get her something to do with miley cyrus, jonas brothers etc. Theres a little bit of merchandise around.
It all depends on her interests and what she's like.
Living in different cities, you can get her something you can only get in Auckland.
Just some ideas, theres lots of things that are good to send in the mail.. if i knew more about her i could porbbaly give better answers.

edit: i order clothes off trademe alot, i usualy pay like a average of around $5 or just over for courier shipping from anywhere in NZ if the clothing item(s) isn;t big or isn;t a bulk lot, to give you an idea of shipping costs.
You could ask her what she'd like.. would ruin the surprise, but least you'll be getting her something you know she wants and she'll be garenteed to be happy with it. Like there may be a particular book she wants, and you can add in something small that you picked out for her aswell. But yeah you could go with the roxy if you have an idea of what she;d wear.. or a smallish handbag, watch, etc, from the brand would be good too.

Birthday gift ideas for mom?

Bubbles! o

My moms birthday is next month and i always wait till the last minute to get something for her and its always a rushed gift, so this year i wanted to take the time and make something or plan something for her but shes so hard to shop for so i need ideas.

Keep in mind
Im 15 dont have alot of money and need something inexpensive.

She likes crafts, gardening, and stuff like that.
Shes remodeing the house right now so can anyone think of something i can make to help her with that, like decorations that are pretty easy to make? She wants the theme to either be beachy, Japanese cultureish, or wasabi style? Not really sure what that is though...

Im pretty good at drawing but i cant doit without directions, and i cant draw people or actual things just animations and stuff.
Im a good cook so i was already planning on making her breakfast, dinner, and desert.
Oh and i cant sew, so nothing to do with sewing.

So anything you can come up with would be helpful!

BONUS QESTION!

Im also making her a cool handmade ( duh ) card but dont know what to right in it and not good at making up poems so if you have any ideas to what to right that would be great!

Answer
Does she have a Sewing kit? And she likes Crafts right? You could look for a Martha Stewart book for her! That would be perfect for her! Or maybe just a craft book would be nice! You can find them for really cheap on http://amazon.com/
Do you have any siblings? Take a picture of you and your siblings, Print it out, Put it in a picture frame, And your mother will surely treasure that!
Something she could relax with, Such as Lotion, A nice book, anything you think she could relax with. That is what almost all mothers need!
Allot of things that teen's get their moms are things such as nice relaxing c.d.s, A candle, Or maybe even a journal, Even Beautiful Flowers!
Okay, for the remodling house, for a beach theme, You could make a sea in A jar! How you do it is find A wide and big container, Put some water in, And ad one to two drops of food coloring.. Then find some sea-shells and sand. Put it on the bottom of the container. Then find some fake rubber fish. put them in the container, Then make a waterproof mini boat, And then put that it, And then you have a mini sea! It is actually pretty cool! And it is perfect for a beach theme!
Okay, For the remodling house - Japanese. Is there a home store near you? Or maybe just some wood you have? Make a Japansese poster! Go online for some free drawing lessons about how to make a Japanese Culture! You could draw something and make it into a poster! Im sure if it was from you, It would look beauitful! Maybe even something that reminds you of Japense will work!
I think the Breakfast, Dinner and Desert idea is Wonderful!
Does your mom like cofee or Tea or anything like that? You could get her a mug!
Bonas Question:
Dear Mom,
Im so glad that you are my mom! You have always been there for me! You are so caring, Nice, Loving, And Awesome! Thanks for everything you do for me! I love you!
Love,

Hope I helped and happy Birthday to your mom!

birthday gift ideas for mom?

fast_SS/T

hi, im 20 amd a guy. my mothers birthday is tomorrow and i still cant figure out what to get her. ive been thinking about what to get her for over 2 weeks, she is extremely hard to buy for. im willing to spend a decent amount of money on her, but im stumped on what to get her. my sister always gets her lotions and spa stuff. i want her to remember this birthday. she likes gardening, but has alot of that stuff already. she really doesnt have any other hobbies other than that. i was thinking about some kitchen electronics, because she likes to cook. i was thinking about maybe a food processor, or possibly cookware. but i dont know.
any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Answer
Ok this may sound kinda cheesy, but here is an idea. Buy or make a birthday card and inside put a home made giftcard (or you can go the the store and buy one) that is for taking her out to a garden center, home depot type place or a greenhouse and help her pick out some stuff for her garden. She will know what she wants or needs. Just set a limet so she knows how much she can spend. This way she gets to spend some time with you and it is very personable. Also you can do any heavy lifting if it needs to be done. Hope this helps.

Or another idea is to set up a date type thing, such as dinner and a movie or bowling or something. it would be fun for both of you and you could have a very good visit.

birthday gift ideas please!!!!!!!!!?

blahblahbl

my friend is turning 21 soon. i want to get her something nice and memorable since its her 21st birthday or something useful since shes a college student and i think college students would probably appreciate useful things.i want to avoid bracelets, photo frames, and those sorts of things. also, im on a pretty tight budget. like $20 or less...ideas please:) thankyou all in advance.

Answer
um...my cousin is in college and her birthday was last month and i got her a zebra print bedset for her dorm room cuz she likes zebras. it wasnt that expensive, i think $30 or so.

hmm...or maybe a personalized snack basket. thats what my mom does. you can load up a basket filled with some of her fav treats, maybe even some homemade ones. this is great for like, finals or any time shes stressed out or needs to be energized. treats make everyone happy :)

a cell phone skin could be useful. phone skins come in tons of different colors and styles and can be easily purchased for less than $20. its the hottest and most practical way to protect a cell phone

and maybe a big teddy bear to go with whatever you get her =) that would be pretty memorable.

Our friend's b-day is coming up & we r trying to put a nice package together for her w/30 gifts. So far we have:
- VS bra - she tried it on but never bought it
- Matching panty: single girls must have matching undies ;)
- VS gum
- VS mint
- Travel size hand lotion
- Fancy chapstick
- Nalgene water bottle
- Ben & Jerry's gc - for the kid in us!
- Chocolate - next to diamond's, a girl's best friend :)
- Small wine bottle - to drink on her own when she wants
- Black pants - she is very tall and those are hard to find
- White t-shirt - as basic as the black pants
- Perfume
- CD with all her best songs
- Group picture
- Candle
- Car refreshner
- Favorite DVD
We have a spa date and dinner (but don't want to count it towards the 30) and though she'll be very happy as it is we think some items could be better. Some thought of shows, sports, concerts but that would get even more $. Essentially we are out of creative/thoughtful ideas, can you help? Thanks!
P.S. No porn :)
She is a nurse so she won't understand Office Space (though I love it!) - I'll check out your other movie suggestion.

In terms of the smell, she doesn't smell, but LOVES to smell good (she is always impeccable and smells amazingly).

Thanks!

Answer
How about a DVD of "The Big Chill." I didn't really understand or appreciate the movie until I was over 30. It is a great film. Does she work in typical corporate america? Include "Office Space" as well. A hilarious cult film.

Any ideas?

Birthday gift ideas???

pink86

My parents want to know what I want for my 22nd birthday (which is June 2), and I haven't really a clue. I didn't really get to do anything special for my 21st either. We are going to have a "French themed" dinner with breads and cheeses and that sort of thing. I am very artistic, and am going to school for graphic design. I am also getting married July 2009. I like movies, books, and shopping. I'm really looking for some unique/different gifts. I do not want a gift card, money or anything to do with a spa thing I like creative stuff. I already have an ipod and am getting a new phone. It has to be less than $150. Any ideas???? Thanks!!!!

Answer
What about a trip to an art workshop in whatever you are interested in? Or classes? Or handmade fine art or craft? (for under $150, a piece of art pottery would be my choice. A unique handmade piece of jewelry to wear on your wedding day would also be a good choice IMO).

Combine a day of shopping, going to Galleries and Museums, with picking out your gift (This should be your choice, as Art is such an objective thing). So, I'd ask for a prepaid Debit Card if they have difficulty with giving 'just cash', so that you are not tied to a particular shop.

Suggestion: if you have a local art league or guild, this is usually a good place for good deals-and you will be helping another local artist! Alternative choice-local university art shows of graduating students. The quality is good, prices may be low, and students always need the money as I am sure you know!

I am a professional artist (you may google me "S. Renee Prasil" to see some of my pieces) and I would be willing to do a commissiond piece . How special would an original clay 'wedding cake' topper be! Prices would depend on exactly what you would want-email at smartartsr@comcast.net if this sounds interesting!

You can buy a T-shirt and iron on papers. Print out the boy's pictures or a logo etc on the papers and iron it on to the t-shirt. This also works for bags, pants, etc.

Another idea is making a poster. Print off a whole bunch of pictures and glue them all on a poster board and write "Happy Birthday!" on it.

Does she have a phone or ipod? You can buy a plain white or another color case then buy sticker paper. Print off pictures or logos on the sticker paper and stick them on to the case or go with the case for her to decorate her own case. Save the extra stickers for a card!

Have fun!

Ideas for birthday Gifts!?

Jen

I'd like to get my boyfriend something for his birthday thats gonna make him think "wow"! :D Any ideas are grateful
we've been together 4 years and he always asks for the same each year, albums, ps3 games etc. I wanna get him somthing different and special. was thinkin a watch but he doesn't wear one and don't want to spend lots for it not to be worn.

Answer
What are his hobbies?

You can buy him an instrument, but they are pricey unless you buy it used.

Clothes, Hat, Sunglasses, (Last resort!)

Sports fan?

Gift cards are cool, but he won't be excited.

Wait... MEN are not hard to shop for! I just don't see why men are hard to buy gifts. Feed us, love us or give us money or maybe all three. I don't know how much easier it could get.
Just seriously don't buy us clothes unless you stink at cooking, you can't love us sexually or you absolutely have no clue what we like.

My dad bought me a gold watch, but I don't wear it because I just don't feel comfortable with a watch on my wrist. If he say's he likes that then buy him that. We are not complex, just simple straightforward. You could one up him and buy tickets to a concert he likes and go with him.

I strongly suggest food. Good food, not take out.

Maybe a new MP3 or a disc player.

Go to a store like best buy and pretend you just want batteries, but check on what he looks at.

He is turning 19. He loves New York, theatre (actor), and traveling. I want to tie those all together into something sweet but not just sentimental. I want more than a photograph or something. I want something physical that he can hold or do something with.

Can anyone give me some good ideas of things to make as christmas gifts? Money is rather tight!!!?

JOANNE C

Answer
Garage sales, fetes, and charity shops are fantastic for bargains. You should start gathering stuff straight after Christmas at the Christmas sales. Same with birthday presents. If things are really tight, space out your socialising at Christmas and when your Auntie gives you something, give it to your girlfriend and so on. One year I took a photo of myself nude and put glitter glue and holly stickers over the rude bits and made Christmas cards and rubberstamped the inside with the words MERRY CHRISTMAS. They were such a huge hit that I sold them in boxes of 6. Just remember, anything moist like glue makes the paper curl so no big dollops. I have done this for 3 years in a row and made two calendars as well (photos round the house and garden, and photos on overseas trips) (me naked in Glasgow, naked on the pyramids, etc) but trying to put a different pose on each month made it expensive ($60 per calendar) and I made no profit on the calendars. For sedate friends I made Christmas cards from black and white photocopies of photos of myself on Santa's knee at age 5. But the worst thing was, I didn't put my glasses on and didn't notice that the date had been faintly pencilled on the photo margin by my mother. And it came out even darker on the photocopy but still so faint I didn't notice it. Everyone found out I had been lying about my age for years.

Put Christmas paper around tins and put succulent cuttings in them with really cheap Christmas earrings hanging off the "branches" as decorations as tho they were little Christmas trees. A man I know gave all his women friends home made gift vouchers for massages. None were redeemed but it caused a lot of mirth. The best presents are ones that will be used every day by the receiver cos every time they touch them they will think of you. My Aunt gave me an assemble-it-yourself marble upright kitchen paper towel holder. It is just a thick marble disk with a marble pole thing coming up from the middle of it. Every time I yank a piece of paper from the roll I think of her. I bought a skull for a dollar at a garage sale and gave it to my doctor and he keeps it on his desk. When anyone asks my lawyer at a social event, for any legal advice, he says METER'S RUNNING! to warn them he might bill them. From a scrap metal yard I got him an outdated parking meter which works, and he has it mounted next to his desk. When I told them the story behind the gift, they gave it to me free. The zoo sells bags of manure cheap, from the animal cages and calls it ZOO POO and this causes good reactions when you give these for gifts. A friend of mine and I were invited to this rich person's place for his birthday and we were broke. We thought we would get him something later, and look at his tastes first. There were loads of people there in the house and garden. We were shown over the house by his partner when we arrived and saw they had an antique vacuum cleaner museum. We slipped out of the party, sped back to a deceased estate's storeroom that belonged to my family and got the oldest vacky in the world, ran a wet rag all over it and took it back to the party and dingdonged the doorbell. When he opened the door he went ga-gaa over the gift and said HOW DID YOU KNOW I COLLECTED THESE? It turned out to be one of the oldest in his set and it was the hit of the party.

If you give someone jewellery, and they like it, they will wear it every day and remember you gave it to them.

You can make jewellery yourself out of bits and pieces of broken jewellery but you have to have flair and some craft books from the library and friends who appreciate that sort of thing.

Christmas decorations are good to give, especially a box of string lights, but that is getting up to the $10 mark. My Aunt gave me a tin angel which comes out every Christmas for the table and has very sharp edges which I have managed to stay clear of.

One couple gave me a near-life-size stuffed toy gorilla that they got at a charity shop, and a designer jacket which is so beautiful. I have dressed as Santa and visited friends on Christmas day and gasbagged to their children and their children's friends. Also at Halloween I dressed as a witch for some friends' children and answered their door for trick or treat. I had kids screaming and running backwards into each other I was so scary. The first time I opened the door the kids were so upset and screaming that I got a fright too and actually wet myself so I couldn't sit down the rest of the night. But the second and subsequent times, I got used to it.

Get cheap frames and cut out pics of film stars from magazines and sign the pics in flourishing black texta pen TO SUSIE WITH LOVE FROM BRAD, NICE MEETING YOU XXX (a pic of Brad Pitt). These were a great hit and look like real photos if you have glass over them. In some mags the film stars pose properly for the cameras so don't get a pic of Britney walking along the street eating an icypole.

If you can make Christmas fruit cakes, and can cover them with plastic icing, make a frill for round the bottom to cover where the ragged bottom meets the board, out of silver or gold cupcake paper holders. Cut the round bottom out of them, then don't let the lining fall away cos it adds stiffness, cut the remainder into two or four strips and push the top up into the icing in scollop (spelling?) pattern. Overlap the side edges. One or two of the first ones will look messy maybe, but by the time you have finished all round the cake, it will look good. If your first cake looks really messy, do two rows, the one above to hide the joins of the row below. If you had stiff gold paper doyleys you could use these instead. Long as they have a sharp stiff edge to stick into the icing.

Some perfumes at Asian shops or big department stores, have funny names. They might not smell like French perfumes but surprisingly for cheap perfumes, the packaging is nice. I got a few bottles of perfume where the packaging looked very classy and it was called NO! This caused a lot of merriment.

Just hours before closing on Christmas Eve, a supermarket near me reduced their Christmas puddings to 80cents each, and their big trees to $5. If you see a small shop open really late on Christmas eve, the owner is desperate to get rid of their Christmas stock so go in there and they will even offer you a drink while you are looking around!

My Uncle went into hospital and I gave him soap and a water pistol so he could give himself bedbaths.

Get metal serving trays from home or garage sales, doesn't matter if they are all scratched, as long as they are not buckled. If the edges are wavy and not just straight, even better. Paint it roughly with a couple of coats of different colour paints and put a couple of holes in it and hang it with fancy cord. This is a metal board now for magnets. Put a magnet on it with a note saying MERRY CHRISTMAS etc.

Is this a good gift for my close guy friend? For his 21st birthday!?

babyshoes2

I've basically fallen for this man, years ago. I just turned seventeen, and an age thing has been a problem with that. But we have feelings for each other, we just can't go past certain limits because we don't want each other to get hurt. So gift planning is difficult. Anyways, we're both into the same kind of older music, and we're both musicians. Rock and Roll, Blues from the 60's, 50's. Like that, so I thought of making him a mixed tape. Like an actual cassette tape, of a bunch of blues guys from the 30's through 60's. That'll be on one side, and the other side he could use to record on because he likes recording his live stuff through cassettes. So that's the main gift. Then he already drinks and stuff, I don't but I could have somebody buy him whiskey, his favorite, to give to him as well. And then I would take him to dinner, and there is this park out in the middle of nowhere I know he'd love to go to so I could take him there, give him that stuff, and we could just spend the evening together. Is that lame? :) What do you think? Any other ideas? Thanks!

Boyfriend Birthday Gift Ideas?

Scarlett F

Hellooo.

I'm having such a hard time picking out a gift for him even though I know his likes. We've been together six months, so I don't know what going to far would mean. I also don't want him to think that if I get him something expensive, I expect something expensive back when it's my birthday.

Anyways, he's a few things he likes:

He writes music - Maybe a journal to write his songs in? I'm having a hard time finding a decent one online, any ideas?

He's a huge The Beatles fan. He likes 60's/70's/80's music but he has A LOT of CD's already. Wouldn't know what he has or not.

He's 23 btw.

He plays the guitar and the bass.

He's a shy guy for the most part.

He still uses his walkman and carries his cd's with him everywhere... I was thinking an Ipod? But... Would that be too much?

I also saw this The Beatles throw that I think he might like.

Please Help! Anythiiiing anythiiing will be of help!

Thanks! :)

Answer
Since he still uses CDs, you could be all old school and make him a mix. Put songs you think he'll like and songs that remind you of the two of you.

A music journal is a nice idea. Have you seen the ones that have blank sheet music in them as well?
Like this: http://www.themusicstand.com/64-Page-Six-Stave-Student-Blank-Music-Book-p/567781.htm

Or here is a nice music themed regular journal: http://gifts.barnesandnoble.com/Home-gift/Musicians-Black-Notebook-Manuscript-Paper-for-Inspiration-and-Composition/e/9780762403691/

I'm a fan of Etsy and they specialize in a lot of vintagey stuff so you may find some 60s/70s/80s music themed stuff there. It's all unique and make great gifts.

They have a ton of Beatles related stuff apparently! Check it out:
http://www.etsy.com/search?search_submit=&q=beatles&noautofacet=1

An iPod is always an excellent idea for a music lover but it's up to you to try and feel out how he'd react you getting him something expensive. But like another poster suggested, Nanos and shuffles are also great options! You can even get a Beatles skin for it!

http://www.wirelessemporium.com/p-ms-1177598-the-beatles---band-music-skins-for-apple-ipod-shuffle.asp?source=gbase

Whatever you get him, I'm sure he'll love it :)

Three years old boy birthday gift idea?

Ivy

He wants a kids ride on car but I think he is too young to ride it. Is it safe enough for a three years old boy? Or is this any other good gift that a little boy would like?

Answer
You can get him a kids ride on car with remote control. With a remote control for parents who's children can neither touch the accelerator pedal nor control the car, so the toy car can be driven by the child using the car's controls or by a parent using the remote. If necessary, parents can over ride the child's driving by using the remote control, all seems safe and interesting.

http://www.lavadeals.co.uk has many amazing kids ride on cars, you can try your luck there.

what should I gift my ex-girlfriend for her birthday?

bhaskaryya

It's my ex- gf's birthday shortly and I want to gift her something special. Something which would make her remember all the good times and make her realize that i still care deeply. It's been 4 months since we split up and we are both single. So I want to gift her something which would make her nostalgic enough to come back to me.

But the catch: I can't give her anything expensive because she hates it when I give her expensive gifts. She'd rather prefer something handcrafted. And I have already wrote her poems and made photo collages and don't want to repeat these. And we live in different cities (2000 miles apart) so I should also be able to courier the gift.

She likes stuff to do with good music and the usual girly stuff. And i hate things that are too mushy/cheesy.

Please help me out guys....What can I possibly gift her?

Answer
I'd give her some jewelry... I know you don't want to get her something too expensive, but try this idea... get her a nice ruby pendant (red rubies inspire passion) with a sweet note attached that includes your best memories, how you miss her, how you hope to remain a part of her life in whatever context that may be (that's totally what my now fiance told me to win me over... okay that and a gorgeous emerald pendant!). Make sure she knows it was a handcrafted piece that didn't cost a fortune, but you couldn't help but think of her when you saw it. The key here is not getting a ring, a bracelet, a necklace and earrings... THAT would be "expensive" looking. If you get her a simple, stunning pendant that she can't HELP but wear, she can't HELP but think about you!

My sources are a list of a couple cheap sites, on the middle link there's a perfect inexpensive ruby teardrop pendant... seems symbolic, doesn't it?

Birthday gift ideas?

Kris T

I'm blanking on what to get my girlfriend for her upcoming 21st birthday. She is not a typical girly girl, and isn't entirely about jewelry, and related type material. We've been together for just over two years, so if the time frame helps in any way use it. Basically wondering if there is any fun ideas for a 21 year old. Can't remeber much about my own 21st, so not sure if that would even help.

Answer
A nice digital camera. Every 21 year old I know has a facebook, blog, or myspace where they put up all kinds of photos.

Birthday gift/ scrapbook ideas?

Marry

Birthday gift/ scrapbook ideas?
ok so my friend is turning 16 soon, and her older sister got all of her sis's friends to make a page for a scrapbook shell put together and give to my friend. I wrote her a note/letter thing, but it takes up only a half of the page, and i want to put some good like song lyrics or something more meaningful than just a random picture of us. we've only been friends for like a year or so, but we're pretty good friends. So does anyone have any good quotations, symbols, lyrics, or any other ideas for how i can fill this page? Thanks so much in advance :

Answer
here are a few sites that have tons of quotations, poems, etc. Use their search box to zero in on what you want.

www.quotegarden.com/

www.coolquotes.com/
http://www.coolnsmart.com/

you could make a tiny musical card & glue it to the page:

you could record your message or some fav song, etc.

you could make a pop-up 'card' & attach.
http://robertsabuda.com/popmake/index.as...

or make an accordion card & attach. write or draw whatever you want within the folds of the accordion. this will be a unique way of presenting stuff.

you could also dry some flowers & leaves & glue them in a beautiful pattern to fill up the page. the dried flowers will represent the longevity of your friendship hopefully into the future. ' a friendship that won't "die" '

hope these help
all the very best & have fun :-))

Birthday present idea for my boyfriend?

Tessa Mari

Within the next month it's my boyfriends birthday and our one year anniversary. I've decided to make a picture collage for our anniversary but I'm not sure what to do for his birthday.
I have no money, Huge issue I know.
Here's some info.
He's turning 19
Obsessed with music and movies
Into oldies rock and metal
Loves the color black, but not a dark person
Very emotional person, in all the good ways
Is a chef
I also wrote him a heartfelt poem for Valentines day which he loved, but I'd like to do something new.
Any ideas?? =[
sweet and sour... I DON'T HAVE ANY MONEY!
I'd rather not give him food, doesn't seem as sentimental.
I had also planned on making him a WHOLE bunch of little things and put them in a designed box.
Romantic things, sexual things, anything like that would also be good.
(I've already made him a 'coupon' book lol.)

Birthday gift ideas for my girlfriend?

Housefanat

We're both bi, and because we've only been dating for 2 months our parents don't know. It's her birthday this saturday and since we're in a long distance relationship i'll be driving to see her on sunday...but as of right now i have no idea what to get her. I can't get her anything her parents will question about, she's not into jewelry, i've gotten her flowers a lot in the past so doing it for her birthday wouldn't be anything special, i will be taking her out to dinner....it's her 21st, and i'm 19....i have no idea!!! help!!! i want it to be something she'll remember forever.

Answer
The best memories aren't really presents, but rather events in my opinion. I'll remember having fun with someone far better than a gift i'm given. Time is a precious gift, don't waste it, use it. Hang out at the park saying all sorts of crazy things, take her on a pretty hike, take her breath away by the way you spend your time together, not by a fancy present.

Gift ideas for a 9 year old girl?

Danielle

Due to recently losing my job and not having as much money as I used to, I'm starting my Christmas shopping stupidly early, the earlier I start the more money I have to spread between now and the big day and the less stressful it will be.

So what could I buy my little sister?
She's 9 years old, a bit of a tomboy, but not much. she spends a lot of her weekend just watching telly and playing with our family Jack Russell. She's got CRAZY frizzy hair that she hates being brushed, and loves animals, any animal in fact, so much so I bought her a giant African snail for her birthday, she loves it.

any ideas welcome.
thank you!

Answer
Sorry about losing your job! Keep putting in applications! Hang in there! You are wise to start buying for Christmas a little bit at a time now. Keep in mind small gifts/stocking stuffers from the Dollar Stores, Nilla or other discount stores.

1. Your sister might want a gift certificate to 'Build a Bear'. (The shop near us has bears and other animals one can dress up. I'm in Scandinavia though. My grandson got the dog instead of the bear and put it in a soccer/football outfit. My granddaughter got the girl bear and put it in a gymnastics outfit.)

2. CDs of movies like Grease; Mama Mia; Christmas movies like Home Alone I and II; Miracle on 34th Street.

3. Candy. Life Savers gift box is always yummy. Chocolate Santa Claus.

You are a good sister.

any ideas for a birthday gift for a 9 year old girl?

Answer
I think a wonderful gift a nine year old little girl would be a jewelry box and a pretty necklace and pendant. It's something she will never forget if it is her first real piece of jewelry and she will cherish it forever.

Birthday ideas for deployed husband??

Q. Ok so my husband is in the marine corps and he is deployed right now (in Kuwait). His birthday is next month and I have NO idea what to get him. I want to get him something that he can actually use while he is there... He already has a PSP and an X-box and all that... He has tons of books, etc. Anyways... any suggestions will help. Thanks :]

Answer
You could send him a new game for PSP or xbox.
Or you could make a mini album of an "imaginary birthday date/party." Take pictures of everything he would see if he were here for his birthday. For example: Take a picture of you dressed up holding his birthday cake. Also take different snapshots of everywhere you would go if he were with you. Like a picture of you getting in the car, dressed up for a birthday dinner date or a picture of you sitting at a table of where you would be eating a birthday dinner with him. Different pictures of family members eating his birthday cake. Or a picture of the birthday dinner you would have cooked for him, candles and all. A picture of you holding the gift you are mailing him. And at the end of the album maybe you blowing him a kiss.

Moms birthday gift ideas from teenager?

SummerPlea

My moms birthday is next week and I want to mke it extra special because its the last year before i'm going to college (im also the last kid home, everyone else is moved out) I'm thinking of having a marathon of her favorite shows and getting takeout chinese food to watch togethter since my dad will still be at work. Can you help me think of a good gift idea for her though? Shes in her 50s, but is still youthful

Answer
That's a lovely way to spend her birthday! How about getting her a handcarved wooden jewelry box. Am sure she will have a lot of trinkets and it will be something that she will use daily. It looks great on the dresser too. Check out the MarqART boxes, they are awesome. I got one for my mom for her birthday a few months ago and she is still showing it off to her friends!

I need help with birthday gift ideas?

laughing

So my mom's birthday is coming up (April 22nd) and I don't have any money to spend. I feel horrible that I can't buy her a nice gift, but times are tough. The worst thing is that she even forgot that next Wednesday is her birthday because my cousin is getting married that Friday! I want to make it special.

Any ideas? Please nothing corny or lame. I am a teenager so it can't be childish. I'm just stumped as to what I should do!

Thanks!

Answer
depending on what you call corny...you can do things like cook her a meal or make a card (my mom would like this, and i'm 20. hah.) and for the card, don't just slap a few markers and crayons onto a piece of paper. make it legit and put effort into it. thank your mom for what she's done for you. wish her a happy birthday (obviously). keep it personal, not some cliche lines from some website.
