Handmade Birthday Gift Ideas?

hypnotic

It's my friend's 18th birthday soon,we used to be best friends years ago, but then she moved away and this year her parents are paying for me to go down and be like a birthday surprise for her. But I want to make her something really special for her birthday, I was thinking of making a box, collaged with old pictures of us and then fill it with things, but I don't know what to put inside of it, I haven't seen her in years and have no idea what she's into any more. Any ideas?

Answer
Hmm, let see, you can call and ask her what thing she love most (make sure that ur friend doesnt buy it yet), try not to talk to her about her birthday....
For example: She love the new iPad but she cant buy it beacuse its too expensive, then u can buy the iPad and suprise her.
Good luck :) and hope my idead can help you out :)

Birthday gift ideas???

My parents want to know what I want for my 22nd birthday (which is June 2), and I haven't really a clue. I didn't really get to do anything special for my 21st either. We are going to have a "French themed" dinner with breads and cheeses and that sort of thing. I am very artistic, and am going to school for graphic design. I am also getting married July 2009. I like movies, books, and shopping. I'm really looking for some unique/different gifts. I do not want a gift card, money or anything to do with a spa thing I like creative stuff. I already have an ipod and am getting a new phone. It has to be less than $150. Any ideas???? Thanks!!!!

Answer
What about a trip to an art workshop in whatever you are interested in? Or classes? Or handmade fine art or craft? (for under $150, a piece of art pottery would be my choice. A unique handmade piece of jewelry to wear on your wedding day would also be a good choice IMO).

Combine a day of shopping, going to Galleries and Museums, with picking out your gift (This should be your choice, as Art is such an objective thing). So, I'd ask for a prepaid Debit Card if they have difficulty with giving 'just cash', so that you are not tied to a particular shop.

Suggestion: if you have a local art league or guild, this is usually a good place for good deals-and you will be helping another local artist! Alternative choice-local university art shows of graduating students. The quality is good, prices may be low, and students always need the money as I am sure you know!

I am a professional artist (you may google me "S. Renee Prasil" to see some of my pieces) and I would be willing to do a commissiond piece . How special would an original clay 'wedding cake' topper be! Prices would depend on exactly what you would want-email at smartartsr@comcast.net if this sounds interesting!
