Gift Ideas for bedridden father?

prplfae

My dad has terminal cancer, and as of the last couple weeks doesn't really leave the hospital bed they brought in for him. I just realized today that when it comes to his birthday next month, and christmas, i have no idea what to get him. He doesn't get dressed anymore since theres really no point, so the usually tshirt with a funny saying on it is out. he litterally doesn't do anything. I was thinking some nice blankets, but then my mom just bought some new ones, and he really has plenty. I need a few ideas since both christmas and his birthday are coming up, so the more suggestions the merrier.
Skelli- nice suggestion, but he grows his own

I like the picture frame ideas:)

Keep 'em coming!!!

Answer
My father had terminal cancer, too. We bought him crossword puzzles (large print), more channels on his TV, a tempra pedic mattress pad, a large heating pad and my brothers gave him girly magazines!! His candy dish was always full of chocolate. We set up a digital picture frame and uploaded photos from when we were kids on vacation in Cape Cod to when he visited Ireland. Family and friends contributed to photo sharing. Those who lived far away were encouraged to write to him about their daily lives and accomplishments. We took videos of places we went to and played them back to him, he loved that. He was not kept from being informed just because he was sick. He loved to hear about how everyone was doing. It actually made him feel at peace to know all was well with his loved ones.

But the day to day stuff, visiting, was the most precious gift of all. I learned more about my father in the last year of his life than I did in 46 years.

Sweet 16th Birthday Party Ideas?

Cheyene B

My daughter birthday is coming soon and we need some ideas I guess. She isn't having this big extravagant Party. Were renting a room at a restaurant and eating and what not. But my daughter likes to have fun and is Artsy and Creative very into Fashion there will be family and friends there so I need some fun ideas that we can do at the restaurant and what not.

FYI: This her mother using older sister account

Answer
Heyyyy! I'm 17 years old, and if your daughter is anything like i was when i was 16 (socially active, fun friends, glam, boyfriend, the whole im now in high school so im automatically grown type of attitude) then it would be very nice to buy her a cute & glamorous outfit w/ a pair of heels to match to show that she is growing up, (make sure she stands out) and invite her closest friends girls and boys. But dont try toooo hard. that kind of upsets teenage girls. and NO EMBARASSING pics.! lol. she might make u want to stangle her, but you have to remember that its her day. And to top it off, get her the gift that she's been wanting forever and you will be set.

Good LUCK! and remember, 16 yr olds change totally so be prepared. byeeee

I'm having my 16th birthday soon and i'm not sure what to do.

My birthdays in September, and I live in louisiana,
so the weather is usually still pretty warm.

please help,

thanks(:

Answer
Well when it comes, Happy Birthday! I say the big backyard is great but what if it rains? You are better off inside or have part of the party in and out. Have tons of friends over, good music and food and have fun! Make sure all of them get you amazing gifts or money and invite all your closest friends! Have fun! Hope this helped!!!

Birthday celebration and gift ideas?

Rosy

Hi,
It is my best friend's birthday next week and I want to surprise him. I don't want to have a surprise party because he doesn't like to be the center of attention and to avoid embarrassment. I just want him to have a good time and to make him feel special.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to make his day special without too many people involved? Also, I do like him a lot which he knows. I am planning to bake him a birthday cake. Any more ideas?

Thanks.
I forgot to add, he is going to be 29.

Answer
Well since he is going to be 29 that means he is very mature and a surprise party probably won't be something he would like to much especially since he does not like being the center of attention. How about if you do something private with him. You could take him out to see a play that showing. (if he is into stuff like that) You could also take him to the beach or the river to go swimming and have lunch. You could invite a couple of his friends to go along with you guys and just spend the day together

As far as a gift is concerned you should try shooting for something homemade a fun. You could get a plain- tshirt and decorate it yourself with things he likes to say. You could make him a gift basket of his favorite candy, or make a mixed cd of songs he loves. Here are more homemade gift ideas you can check into for inspiration http://www.giftgrease.com/homemade-gifts.html You can also look at these birthday gift ideas to see if he may like something on this list http://www.giftgrease.com/birthday-gift-ideas.html This is all I have for now. Is this a good birthday gift idea?

Marbie A

I've been seeing this guy for two months and his birthday is coming up, and he mentioned he would like to see the hockey team from our state and so I thought I could buy him tix for that.

I definitely plan on baking him a cake but I also know he wanted to ho camping, and I enjoy it too so I thought the tix and the game would suffice.

Is this a good birthday gift idea?

any suggestions welcomed.

Answer
Yes. Good idea. I think you can do a few things, in advance, to make it even more fun.
Such as:
After getting the tickets, contact the Management of the Mighty Ducks (or whomever your team is), and have them ANNOUNCE it's HiS BiRTHDAY at the GAME..!
-
They'll do it..and probably put it on the big screen. You have to make sure this is arranged in advance, though.
-
If you go camping first, you could pull the tickets out while you're having a candle lit dinner our in the wilderness.
-
You could get him a Ducks (whomever) jersey..or keychain..and he can open that first, and then you give him the tickets.
-
If he has a favorite player, you could always contact his management company and see about getting an autographer photo of whomever it is.
-
Sounds like a nice birthday. He'll actually end up having a sort of birthday Month..vs Birth-DAY..since, you have birthday cake night, then camping, then the Hockey game day. Maybe you could speak to his family or a good friend and coordinate a little dinner at home, or at a restaurant he likes, and that's when you can bring out the cake with candles.
.

Birthday Gift Ideas for Mom?

Aki Diaz

My mom's birthday is on monday, and I would love some ideas for gifts. I asked her personally what she would like, and she stressed to me that she didn't want me wasting my money on her, even though I disagreed - A LOT lol

So I'm making the card myself (I can make handmade cards since I have all the Equipment), so what other cheap things can I get her?

I've thought of the following:
> Buying her a book (I'll go on amazon on her computer to see what she's been looking at) I have a $5 voucher for a bookstore, so that would drop the price of whatever book it is by $5
> Getting some chocolate
> Bath stuff (There's a shop nearby which sells it for pretty cheap)

So anymore ideas? She loves gardens (although she can't do gardening since there's no garden and she doesn't like plants indoors), old homes, bath stuff.

tysm!

Answer
you could get her stuff like a handbag or a wallet or maybe a vanity tray which she could keep on her dressing table. or you could get her a perfume or make a gift basket yourself.like take stuff she likes like makeup and chocolated and put it all in a cane basket and neatly wrap it up. thats a thoughtful gift idea. i hope i helped.

Birthday gift?

I need idea's of birthday gifts for my boy friend..i'm also taking him out to a nice italian sea food restaurant...but there has to be a gift..:)helpp helpp hehe

Answer
It would be nice if you made him a cake yourself even if you cannot bake those little small cakes you can buy from a bakery are a really nice touch. I would say you kind of have to go with something he likes that isn't going to cost you an arm and leg. If hes into sports you might want to get him something from his favorite team that he can use. I would not get him Cologne since he might not like the smell and then you might be upset when he isn't wearing it and you spent a lot of money on it. You could get him a couple of gift cards and then you both could go shopping together...like another date night! Some guys really just like simple things that have a personal touch your going to have to go with something creative. Have fun!

Birthday gift ideas PLEASE!!?

Help! I'm so stumped on what to get my Man this year for his Birthday. He turned 30 today, and we have been together for almost 4 years. We have a 6 month old daughter, and we are suuuuuper happy. He's a typical Jock, and he's completely infatuated with sports. Hockey, Football, Baseball, and Rugby, to name the most important to him. People always buy him sports stuff, and now it just sits in our closet. So I don't want to get any of that for him. I also made him a special album of the baby for Christmas, and a framed collage of the baby also. He doesn't like fancy dinners. I bought him a ton of clothes for Christmas also. He already has Jewelry from me. We are fortunate enough to be able to go out and buy the things we want and need, on our own, so he doesn't really NEED anything. He's a sentimental guy, so its not about the money that I spend. But I'm just so puzzled about what to get!! Its a big year, 30, and I want it to be memorable. What do I do???? Lol I appreciate your suggestions :)

Answer
I think you should take him out to a nice romantic restaurantvor planned to have a romantic dinner with flower wine and romantic music follow with a romantic bath with bubble champagne candle and rose petals and music.then find him a something you know he might like

Birthday Gift Idea (for male) - HELP!?

spiritsoce

Ok I need some help and I need it ASAP! My best friend/roommate/boyfriend's birthday is Wednesday. He's turning 30. I need a gift idea.
We live in Southern California. He actually just moved here from Texas about 6 months ago - he's a newbie.
He's BIG into sports (Loves Texas football)- cooking - fishing/outdoor stuff. He likes traveling and visiting new places and seeing new things.
He was in the military and enjoys books/movies that have to with military/history/documentary stuff.

I want to get him a gift that he'll really like and it will mean something.

Any ideas?
He LOVES sports! He wants to check out more of California (amusement/parks/touristy stuff). He loves to cook. Loves movies.

...one more thing: I'm leaving the night of his birthday (Wed.) to go to family's in Az. for Thanksgiving.
Not possible to make dinner, etc...that night.
I want to do something small tomorrow night and/or then maybe this weekend?

Answer
Are there any football games playing around the time of his b-day? Every man would die if they had tickets to a game. You could go away for the weekend and do some fishing and camping. And I would buy him a new book for a gift. But you should spend his birthday together, and don't think of going away for the weekend as his only present. Don't forget to give him the one "thing" he really wants!!! Happy 30th Mr. !!!!

I need help for a 40th birthday party gift idea!?

a new day

Okay, so the idea is for everyone to bring 40 of something (and everyone is to dress in all black). I was thinking maybe 40 black balloons, but I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas. And please, nothing too expensive :) 40 of something can easily end up being quite expensive. I want to spend $40 or less. Also, I don't really know much about this person except that he loves to bake. Thanks for your help!!

Answer
My Blister was born 30/6/63. I was born 25/6/62 so for 30 years we`ve been trying to out do each other with gifts. the worst she sent me was a cd of party songs like " Agadoo" but i`ve sent her a DVD about steam driven tractor engines, 5lbs of potatoes (which she was most gratefull for.Doh!)
A picture of me on a breakfast bowl, grinning insanely! But the best was when her then 8yr old son helped me unwrap a box of fferro rocha? and fill them carefully back up with small cooked brussell sprout`s coated in melted chocolate.!
sounds labour intensive but only took an hour or so.
Best bit was watching her bite into the 1st one. After that she gave them to unsuspecting visitors which were all caught on video! Best of all she still lubs me!

Birthday Gift Idea?

I need ideas for my hisband for ten years. I ask him what he want he say nothing. He is not that good with technology and he does not like all the cool gadgets. He is a little over 40, and does not do anything for fum or excitement. Also we are located in South Florida. Also his b-day is next month (Feb.)

Answer
May be a romantic birthday will be nice. You can arrange a romantic dinner for the two of you, for dessert lead him to your bedroom.

Set the bedroom up with candles and Rose petals all over the room and have some romantic music playing in the background.

On the bed, you could place several long-stemmed roses, a bottle of champagne or wine, strawberries and a birthday cake. The rest is up to youâ¦

Check out the yahoo dining section for Los Angeles - sometimes there are posts about good places to eat for LA and SD and OC.

Some times citysearch.com gives a few good places also.

Read Five Love Languages, Gary Chapman, depending on his love language, it will give you a ton of ideas.
