Birthday gift idea for 4 year old boy?

Helen of T

He likes dinosaurs, I want to get him something good from his aunt though. And I am clearly out of touch with children's toys. What would be an awesome gift that would blow him away and not piss off his parents?!

Answer
Dinosaur books and maybe a toy dinosaur (I think Fisher price has some good ones that a 4 year old would like). My son is 2 and is afraid of his toy (roaring) dinosaur, but I think it is b/c he is too young for it. He does love his books...that is what I have to read to him every night right now. My friend's 4 year old loves dinosaur books too. If you need more ideas, coloring books are always a hit with little ones.

As a parent, I get kind of irritated when people buy my son age-inappropriate gifts, extremely loud gifts, or gifts with a zillion pieces. Other than that, I appreciate anything really.

Good luck!

Birthday gift ideas for a 14 year old boy?

Yep me

My son is turning 14, and he isn't giving out enough ideas for gifts. He has a laptop and an Xbox 360. He plays fighting/shooting games on them. We have 2 dogs, and he plays basketball, rides his bike, and plays on our trampoline. Please! I need ideas!

Answer
does he have an ipod touch? they're expensive, around two hundred dollars, but if you bought him one with a twenty five dollar gift card and some earphones he'd love you. if you consider this get skullcandy earphones, they're the best. im 14 and everyone has an ipod where i live; i got one last year and it was the best present i've ever gotten besides my ps3 and xbox.

if he doesn't have call of duty: black ops or mw3 you could get him that (though he probably already has it), but ask him if he likes it first. don't waste your money. another good game is assassin's creed 3 and elder scrolls: skyrim on xbox 360. this is my personal opinion but don't get mass effect 3 (a game that came out recently). the endings are terrible. dragonage 1 is a good game, but dragonage 2 is pretty bad. the whole entire time i tried to convince myself that its a good game like the previous but i just couldnt

anyways... i also have a dirtbike and longboard. those are mad fun, but dirtbikes are also like two hundred bucks. if he likes bikes consider a dirtbike or ask him about it

does he have a steam account (Steam is a digital distribution, digital rights management, multiplayer and communications platform developed by Valve Corporation (o yea i just copied that right off wikipedia i got swag))? if he does get him a vanilla card and let him buy games on there. i just got metro 2033 and total war on pc and theyre awesome.

if he has a favorite basketball player or something, you could buy a fathead for your son (could be about 100 dollars). thatd be pretty funny if i woke up to a life size michael jordan or on my wall lol id be like damn when did that get there

if he has a favorite book series... check which ones he has and get him the next one. though maybe hes not really into books.

lastly... no kid would mind if u just gave him 100 bucks or a vanilla gift card with 100 bucks on it. that way he could buy anything on like, amazon or something he likes. it gives him choice, so its a great present.

oh, i forgot. if he likes southpark, or family guy, dvd sets are good. just anything of his favorite tv show. southpark ftw

good luck dude, im sure whatever u pick will be good mamacita

Birthday present idea for a 33 year old woman?

phantasmag

I know this has been asked, but my big sisters case is a lot different... She has EVERYTHING you could say, enough clothes to open up a shop, a TON of make up, heaps of perfume, stacks of CD's, lots and lots of trinkets of all kinds, videos and dvd's, heaps of jewellery, basically i dont know what she doesn't have! haha and i really wanna get her something special but because she has soo many possessions im unsure of what to get her. So far all i got is a card, and her B-days coming up real soon!
This is a hard one, but any ideas guys?? please haha

Answer
The "standard" answer to "what do you get a woman who has everything?" is "something to put it in." If she likes baskets, a basket might be ideal. For all that jewelry, perhaps a jewelry box. Or an earring holder [http://www.google.com/search?q=earring+holder&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wi&biw=952&bih=607 ], necklace holder [http://www.google.com/search?q=earring+holder&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wi&biw=952&bih=607#um=1&hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB%3Aofficial&tbm=isch&sa=1&q=necklace+holder&pbx=1&oq=necklace+holder&aq=f&aqi=g10&aql=&gs_sm=e&gs_upl=59523l62170l0l62490l8l7l0l0l0l0l231l1010l3.2.2l7l0&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=a43c866bb79d1762&biw=952&bih=607 ], or multipurpose jewelry holder [http://www.google.com/search?q=earring+holder&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wi&biw=952&bih=607#um=1&hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB%3Aofficial&tbm=isch&sa=1&q=jewelry+holder&oq=jewelry+holder&aq=f&aqi=g10&aql=&gs_sm=e&gs_upl=39705l41489l0l41929l7l7l0l0l0l3l248l1387l0.4.3l7l0&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=a43c866bb79d1762&biw=952&bih=607 ].

What does she love? My late husband and I had the same sort of problem you have, because we both pretty much bought what we wanted and didn't want much. We solved the problem by buying things that supported each others' hobbies--but not tools or supplies. Things we bought didn't have to cost a lot, they just had to show a lot of thought. For example, at different times, we gave each other Barns & Noble gift cards because we both love[d] to read. When he couldn't get warm enough, I knitted huge fuzzy socks that couldn't be purchased anywhere. When he took up a new hobby, I found out-of-print books about it for him. He bought me subscriptions to periodicals related to my hobby. Nothing big or fancy, just things that were specifically for the recipient.

And it doesn't have to be "things." What you might do for your sister, for example, is make scrapbook pages of some of your shared history. You could start a scrapbook and add pages on gift-giving holidays. Write out a list of why she's a super sister and have it framed or made into a plaque.

My fiance Will be turning 23 this friday, and I am taking her on a romantic getaway at a resort, and I reserved the romantic room and everything, and the place does lots of special things for her while she is there. But, I still need an idea of something that I could get her as a gift. I cant think of a gift that would even compare to the romantic getaway. She is extremely low maintenance, she does like some jewelry, just not much. She doesn't wear makeup, and she never asks for anything. She is a college student full time. She works very hard every day at school, and she deserves a little break. Basically, I need a gift for the woman who doesn't need or want anything.

Answer
It seems like this getaway for her is all that she needs =)!!! That's such an amazing gesture already!!!! You said she likes some jewelry but not probably anything too big or glamours, why don't you get her a small diamond necklace of some sort or some kind of jewelry that she can keep forever. Jewelry is something that she can take home with her from the resort and when she looks at it she will remember the amazing time she had with you there. If you get her something small and simple she could wear it with any outfit. I have a friend of mine that doesn't wear jewelry and also doesn't wear makeup (she's kind of a tomboy). But her boyfriend got her a small heart necklace made from gold and she loved it, and wore it with everything. It's just an idea but I am not sure how you feel about it. My husband also got me a diamond heart necklace and I wear it everyday, because it's simple and goes with everything. Just an idea and maybe you've totally crossed off jewelry already but it's always an option....it's something she can have forever.

Homestuck gift ideas?

Q. I'm trying to get my girlfriend something for her birthday. We're both big Homestuck fans, and she likes Tavros in particular. I was thinking about making her a plushie, but I'm not very artsy-craftsy. Help?

Answer
I realise these are nothing what you're looking at, but if you want a different option, but still a plush toy and are willing to pay for postage, a big hit here in Australia is Beanie Kids. They are collectables for big & little kids.

There are heaps of designs to choose from and start at $10.

Good luck. :)

60th Birthday Gift for the Mom who has everything?

Christine

My mom's 60th birthday gift is coming up and all the kids are pooling together about $800-$1000 to get her a really nice gift. The problem is the woman has everything!!! Any ideas on a unique and meaningful gift we could give to her on her birthday? Thanks!

Answer
A 60th birthday is a milestone and you guys have a good budget to work with.

Is there a show in another city that she might like to? Perhaps a weekend away for her and someone else to see the show (tickets included).

Or is there something she has always wanted to do? For example learn to ballroom dance? Lessons might be an idea...

There is a company called Red Balloon Days in Australia that have some fantastic experience based gifts that might help you with some other ideas about what you could do for your Mother closer to where you are.

For a milestone birthday for my now husband, I arranged a limousine to pick him up with his favourite cold beers and had him dropped to the harbour where we took a harbour cruise together before dinner with friends. He loved it and will always remember it because it was an experience.

Good luck!

Roommate birthday gift ideas?

Monique

It's my roommates birthday this week and I wanted to get her something thoughtful for her birthday. We're both college students in San Francisco, but she's an exchange student from France. She's turning 20. She's also someone who I've gotten very close with in the past month that we've been living together. She's very simple and classy, and she would probably be appreciative of anything, but I still wanted to get her something unique and special.

21st birthday gift ideas?

xnycchickx

im horrible wit gifts so i need some birthday gift ideas for a girl...she turns 21 !
plz help
thanx

Answer
One unique idea you should think about is a personalized Photo Collage Jigsaw Puzzle. This can bring together all her favorite things into one composite photo collage layout and the enjoyment of solving the puzzle.

A Photo Collage is easy to order. Just send the guys at jigsaw2order.com a collection of her favorite photos and specify other themes such as Boston Terriers, Snoopy and favorite movies that you want to include. 10-20 photos usually works best. You can also specify the words to a favorite song or poem. Based on your photos and input, let the professional designers at jigsaw2order.com create a unique photo collage layout for your approval before making it into a puzzle. Don't worry, you get a chance to review and approve the photo collage design before they make a puzzle. Once completed, it can be framed and put on the wall as a great keepsake.

16th Birthday Gift Ideas? Help...?

SouthernBe

My boyfriend of 6 months is turning 16 in February. He loves to ski, surf, work out, and play the drums. His mom and I are throwing him a surprise party but I want to get him something cute. For Christmas I got him a digital picture frame filled with pictures of us and things we've done together. Any ideas would be very much appreciated :)
Thanks in advance :)

Answer
Sports Gear

If sports rule your boyfriend's life, you might want to find out what his favorite sports and teams are and get him something that fits into that category. For example, your guy might be really into baseball, so getting him a baseball hat might seem like a great idea, but if he's a Boston Red Sox fan, you want to make sure you don't buy him a New York Yankees hat. Or, if he's a hockey fan, getting a basketball jersey might not be the best idea. Look at what he wears, or talk to his friends about his sports likes and dislikes.
Video Games

If your boyfriend is a gamer, there might be no better gift than a video game he doesn't have yet. If there is a big release coming up near his birthday, reserve the game early and let him know (this way, he doesn't buy it himself). Or, if you know there is a big release in the future, reserve it on his birthday, and then give him the gift when the game comes out. If money is an object, many game systems come with a "Best Of" series, which usually runs about $20 cheaper than normally priced video games. These games are a bit older, but they are a good way to get a recent game for a low price.
music Lovers

If he is into music and always seems to be on his MP3 player, you may want to focus on this aspect of his personality. Think about purchasing some nice headphones for him to listen to his music on. There are some nice sound-dampening earphones that won't cost too much. If he has a favorite style of music, put together a mix CD with songs you think he might like. If you are doing this, try to put some songs he might not have heard or bands he doesn't normally listen to.

Or a Guitar :)
Good Luck!

future sister in law? gifts?

Maddie<3

it's my sister in laws birthday next week and i want to get her something cute like that says 'to my future sister in law' like a notebook or planner or something? do you know anymore ideas simliar? thanks!

Answer
1.Gift Baskets
Putting together a basket of smaller items can be a thoughtful gift idea. If your sister-in-law likes coffee, buy some flavored, sample-sized packages at a local coffee shop and combine them with biscotti and a decorative mug. Use cocoa or tea instead, if that fits her liking.
For a crafty gal, put together a selection of sewing notions such as buttons, ribbons and sequins. Include a new pair of scissors, a set of sewing needles and maybe even some fabric squares. These smaller items are always handy and you can never have too many in your crafting supply collection.
If your sister-in-law loves reading, buy a gift card to a bookstore and include in the basket some decorative bookmarks, a book light to read by at night, and maybe some candies to snack on while she reads.

My friend is turning 16. She loves Stephanie Meyer's books (but she has them already) and home-made jewelry. I know she appreciates originality and creativity more than anything else. I wish I could be original; I'm not though. Help? Any ideas, of any kind?

Answer
Does she have "The Host: A Novel" by Stephenie Meyer that was released in May? You could also pre-order book four in The Twilight Series, "Breaking Dawn," for her and send her a note to that effect. I'm so very glad your friend has a passion for reading and you're supporting her love for Stehenie Meyer by considering buying her books for your friend. I also recommend you consider shopping the Klutz website. There are a lot of clever ideas for gifts and gift center for people in your situation. Cheers and happy b-day to your friend!

friends birthday overseas, any unique gift ideas i could send online?

turbo mupp

Answer
For overseas gifts, an affordable but unique way would be to send button badges/pins that he/she may like. If s/he's into photography, send a camera pin. If s/he is into junk food, send a junk food pin. You can check this shop for ideas: http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5961678&order=&section_id=&page=1

Button badges/pins fit easily into an envelope and doesn't weigh a ton so you save on postage.

BIRTHDAY GIFT IDEA?! 10 points?

Lindsay

15th birthday
wears only a little make-up
very tomboyish (no jewlery)
LOVES TURTLES, but dont say 'buy her a turtle' cause she has one.

any gift ideas involving turtles or other cute birthday gift ideas???
10 POINTS

Answer
You can find all kinds of turtle gifts online. Or maybe something cute to go in her turtle tank from a pet store. :-) For 15 yr old girls, the options are endless. You could get her a CD or movie..assuming she's your girlfriend you could buy her the dvd of a movie you guys saw together. Or get her a picture frame with turtles on it and put a picture of you 2 in it. Check stuff out at Spencer's or Claire's in the mall and I'm sure you will find turtle stuff or other cute things she would like. And there's always Build A Bear. Sounds cheesy but any girl at any age would love having a bear that you made for her! Or get a gift cert to there and you guys can go make one together! :-) Or gift certificates to anywhere she likes or to a place you guys could go do something fun like rock climbing or go karts or a paintballing place or ice skating, ect. Hope this helps! :-)

Gift Ideas?

Jessie j

I have a birthday, an anniversary on thanksgiving, and chirstmas comming up. Does anyone have any good gift ideas?

Answer
We'll, you've certainly got a lot on your plate there. For the birthday, it always matters what kind of person we're talking about. Your spouse/girlfriend - see below, regarding everyone else, best way to start is to consider any personal interests of him/her you know about for a moment.

People always consider those gifts most valuable that they didn't even know they wanted, but are related to something that they are passionate about. Things that scream "I'm thoughtful".
The second best thing is something that made you think about that person, or relates to the personality of that person in any other way.

This is of course a little hard to find out if you don't have that much inside in the persons everyday life, so here are a few more general ideas you can always consider:
a) Books are a good place to start, as long as the person actually reads (ok, that's an obvious one).
b) DVD's and other media also provide an entertaining experience, and the person you give them to can even share the experience with you.
c) Gift Certificates are a good choice, if you're a little creative and know the person well enough, you have nearly unlimited options on what to provide a gift certificate for. You can even go as far as organize a full day trip that way. This is of course most appropriate for good friends, your girlfriend or your parents. Buy-able vouchers for things like indoor climbing, trips to the cinema, a circus or a theater play also make very good gifts.

Girlfriend/Spouse specialties

With girlfriends, jewelery never wears off as gift. It's rarely used anymore, especially nowadays where people are always in a hurry and don't believe in there own ability anymore to choose something his or her partner would like.

It's easier then finding perfumes, for example.

Actually, jewelery and gems are one of the easiest gifts, because you just have to go shopping with her a few weeks before the actual event and keep taking your time in places and shops where she can check out the display. All you have to do is pay close attention to what she keeps looking at, and you'll have more options than you need for her quicker than you can imagine.

The best way to shop for jewelery, however, especially if you've got a limited budget, don't have much time, no Ideas what to get her at all or mixture of all of the above, is to start looking within online jewelery stores. This page should provide you with a good list for startes, which covers shops from all pricing ranges:
http://jewelerystores.weebly.com

Adventure gifts are generally extraordinarily well received as well, that's why I included two links below. But they are also a tad more expensive.

If you need more detailed tips, be a little more specific on the persons you need the gifts for, and maybe also the age range for the respective persons.

Best regards,
Thorsten

My daughters 5th birthday i'm stuck for ideas! Please help!!!?

iampregnan

Hi its my daughters 5th birthday in September and she hasnt that long been at school so knows a few of the kids but i havent had chance to meet the parents and when the kids go back to school they will only be there for about 2weeks before her birthday so i feel a bit stuck, my little girl has one really good friend and i thought about taking her and her friend to local play area - cheeky monkeys / playtowers and then maybe to pizza hut. But i can't help feeling that my little girl should have lots of freinds round on her birthday. I did think that because her bday is on a wed invite a few kids round for a tea party then on the saturday do the play area n pizza thing, what do you think i should do please hlp. oh im 8mnths pregnant so would like it to be something i can do with the kids xx

Answer
tea party sounds great and easy
but don't invite too many friends, she won't really enjoy that at this age

5 or 6 at most

you could, buy the tiny little breads and have her make tiny little sandwiches, the kids would love to make their own little sandwiches

and then you could make hot chocolate and and iced tea( just use a bit of warm water, and they can pretend to be fancy english women

you should get a few fake flowers from the dollar store and or the craft store and let them make a bouquet

get some ribbons too.

Negative tests but no period, help!?

Lil Bit

I'm going on 6 days late with my cycle and i've been to the doctor for a pt before i was due and 3 days after. Both were negative but still no period. Chest is extremely sore, more then usual with the cycle.

Going back to the doctor on the 22nd (day after my birthday =) hopefully i get the gift i want!
i'm not on any type of longterm birth control (pill, shot, all others) Condoms would be it. My period is regular and i've never been late. From charting my complete cycle is 32 days.

Answer
Early pregnancy tests don't really detect pregnancy. They detect proteins/hormones that are normally at higher levels when a woman is pregnant. It's a good idea to go back to double (or triple) check this. I know my girlfriend's cycle gets thrown off by stress a lot of times so it could just be that, too. Good luck :)

This was suggested category, so I took it, lol...
For my bf...i'm usually creative (found a couple of really cool antique military knives for last Christmas which he really liked) but i'm drawing blanks right now and it's less than 10 days away! He's gonna be 39, he's military (Army special forces), he loves running, and he loves target shooting...non-smoker, occasional drinker...degree in business...HELP! Lol...anything u can come up with is better than what I have now!

Answer
how about some sexy lingerie for you to wear for him, and give him a date he will never forget.

even better, take him away for a weekend to a new and romantic place, and spring the lingerie on him there.

:D
