Sweet 16 gift ideas for girls? Help!?

Lola

Hi! So my friend is having a sweet 16 party this weekend and I have no clue of what to get her! My budget is about $40, and it would be great is the item can be found in a store, not online, since shipping can sometimes take a long time. She's pretty girly, but I don't really want to get her makeup because I feel like it's something that she can get anytime. Thanks so much for your input! xoxo

Answer
Kay so my Sweet 16 is also this weekend and I'm a girl so I think i can help you out :) Maybe you should buy her a new bathingsuit since summer is going to start! You know if shes been wanting a new one. ALWAYS get a card for her, that will be the specialist part and she will most likely hang onto it in the future, :) What I would want is one of those necklace making-kits with the cool hippie beads, or maybe a tie-dye shirt kit. I'm asking for extensions and a new straightner for my birthday. You could also get her some real jewlery.. they have cute little dragonfly necklaces at walmart for like 20$ or 25$, you could get that, and a card :) Good luck!

I'm in a long distance relationship with a guy for 5 years now. I'd like to do something for his bday. I cant spend money right now. So, could you suggest me any creative ideas. I sketched one of his pictures and presented for the Valentines day.

Answer
So, i saw a couple ideas on tumblr:
1. Take a pack a cards and write on the joker card: 52 things i like about you. and on every single card, tell him what you like about him. send it to him either via mail, or a video.
2. Burn a cd of your favorite songs to him, and write on the top of the cd (examples): Songs to listen to when you're sad / songs to listen to when you're happy / my mixed tape for you / burnt a cd for you with songs i liked so that you could love / etc.
3. LOVE LETTER it alwasy works, trust me.

Hope it helped! :)

Celebrating my 18th birthday in London in a month, what to do?

M

I'm 18 in a month and a bit and would like to celebrate my birthday doing different stuff in the city. I don't drink and most of my friends are 17 anyways so it would be difficult to go clubbing etc. So far off the top of my head I'm thinking...

Comedy club - any recommendations?
Shisha
Nice restaurant

But I wanna do some more original things. Anyone got any ideas?

Answer
For your birthday you should do something unique and memorable. You should host a "picnic in the park" You can have it in a public park or in a neighborhood park. Have enough food, drinks and snacks for everyone. Arrange a great selection of party songs that you can play so everyone can dance . Oh yeah make sure the park has a playground so that your guest can play on the swings, slides and jungle gym. It would be pretty memorable to see all your friends, and family act like kindergartners. Make sure you tell you family and friends now the gifts you want so they will have enough time to buy them. If you need any ideas check out this page that have popular gifts that people your age get. http://www.giftgrease.com/eighteen-year-old.html Hope this helps you out.

gift for a kindergarten buddy? (:?

Mariel

ok so at my school 8th grade
has kindergarten buddies

is coming up soon
and i wanna get her a present :D
she's like the cutest kindergartener EVER (:
i love her :D

so any ideas for her present?

oh yah,
she's a girl
her name is annette
her favorite color is purple and pink.
so as you can see she's very girly :)
so yah,
any ideas are welcome (;

Answer
She's girly, she will love this...A makeup kit-pretend of course with play Jewelry, and a little purse to put stuff in. One of the best presents I got for a small girl was this little $5.00 play house. It came with mommy, daddy, furniture.. All these people bought her huge expensive gifts and honestly, it was all I could afford..She loved my cheap present over everyone else's. Every time I seen her, she had it. It had a little handle to carry it around...lol.

Gift ideas for my girlfriends birthday?

OhioKid10

I'm 16 and her birthday is a few weeks after Christmas, so all of my good ideas went towards Christmas. I was thinking about getting tickets to go see the Blue Man Group until I found out that they only play in like Chicago, New York, Boston, and Vegas. So that would of been sweet but now that that is out of the question I need another idea. I want to do something that will totally surprise her and be fun, not something boring like jewlrey. So someone please help me.

Answer
Well I think your on the right track, but one of the interesting things about a concert is that it can be hard to talk and relate I mean you can do it but it's difficult. When I was your age I took my girl out shopping and bought her a complete outfit (yes EVERYTHING -- head to toe) and then we went to a nice dinner. It was so hott to know that everything she had on we picked out together it was like she was wearing my OUTFIT. so everytime she wore it or whatever I felt special, and we had a great dinner.

is this a good going away gift?

anonymous

A friend of mine is going to basic training in a month, in two months I'm moving to Chicago, so it's going to be a long time before we get to see each other.
I want to get her a going away/early birthday gift. I'm thinking of a fancy journal and pen. Something she'll be able to use at Basic.
Any other gift ideas?

Answer
A journal is a wonderful idea... I would say maybe some stamps and envelops so you can mail each other... My wife said she hated that she couldn't contact anyone by anymeans since she left with only her phone and nothing else, but cadet phone use is limited.

Ideas for birthday gift for a bright 4 yr old girl. Would like suggestions for specific toys/games.?

clllittle

I'm her grandma. I give her lots of books. We have loved collecting Little People but I think she may be outgrowing them. I'm looking for something she might want to spend some time with and probably play with alone.
All your answers are SO great! Thanks so much! She has MegaBlocks which are like big legos. Of course, she has a Cabbage Patch doll and a Cabbage Patch newborn. I've gotten several sets of Fisher Price "Little People." (I love them too.) She does still play with them a lot. She has a great imagination. I'll give her mom a call to help me pick. Your ideas should help me with her birthday and Christmas. Thanks.

Answer
one of my favorite gifts to give to both boys and girls of ages from 3-8 or 9 is an art pack.

I begin with a fishing tackle type box and in the sections of the top I put in things like small rulers, stickers, roll of tape, colored pencils, pens/pencils, scissors, paper clips, and other assorted supplies. In the bottom or larger section I place things like various sizes of markers, crayons, notepads, other drawing tools like stencils . And then I decorate the outside with the childs name, and stickers.

then in another bag or briefcase(even the paper or cloth ones work well--and the child feels like a grownup when they use it. Inside I place things like assorted types of paper, colored(get good quality) drawing paper (get a few different types some for markers, some just for pencils, and some for painting) and maybe add an idea book or two (but no coloring books)

All of these ideas should also be based on the age of the child. and should be used with adult supervision until you are sure the child will use them correctly and safely.

I have been told fequently that these are sometimes the favorite gift that a child has recieved at a bithday party...it allows them to explore different types of art mediums and gives them good self esteem about their work and encourages them to take care of their things.

My own children also recieved similar gifts from me and always bring them up when they talk about gifts they have enjoyed the most....my youngest hated having to give up her "box" when she went to college--it had been with her since she was about 8 and she kept all of her "special" art supplies in it and hid her favorite pens and pencils in it to keep them from her sister.

What is a good birthday gift idea for my 8 yr old daughter?

Siana

I'm kind of low in cash and I can't afford a great big party for her. I do however want to make her birthday special. So, I'm wondering what I can do for her to make her birthday memorable. Of course I'm getting her the cake and all. Any creative ideas will be greatly appreciated!

Answer
buy her flowers. even little girls love flowers.....when we got our daughter floweres when she was 7 or 8 she was SOOO thrilled, and you don't have to get a dozen roses and spend 50 dollars, but a few carnations, tulips, rosebuds, etc in a pretty vase with a pretty ribbon around it is great. Or get her a really cute pair of pajamas and slippers, thats always something they can use.

Birthday gift for a 5 year old boy?

Kris H

I am going to a double birthday party this weekend for the 2 year old girl I babysit and her 5 year old brother. I already have the 2 year old's present picked out, but I have no clue what to get the 5 year old. He loves video games, but his mom has been trying to get him to play outside more so something for outdoor play would be nice. Does anyone have any ideas on what a 5 year old boy would like to play with?

Answer
Five year old boys are very into super heros. Anything Spiderman, Batman, even Star Wars related is typically a hit. Transformers and action figures are good, too. Board games are good for rainy days and family game nights. The 5 yr. old I nanny for is obsessed with the games Sorry!, Trouble, and Sequence for Kids.

As far as outside stuff, you could do beach themed items, sand building items, sidewalk chalk, scooter, tennis racket and ball, basketball, soccer ball....Target has a couple of great "outdoor geared" aisles in the toy section. Check there for some more ideas.

gift ideas for wonderful employer.?

i'm a nanny and my employer is great with me. this monday is her birthday but she will be going to san diego so i wont see her. my question is... what kind of gift can i give her? i will have to do it on wednesday that's the day i have to go back to work. i really don't have any ideas. just flowers but i don't know what kind? help?

Answer
You re in the best position to know what she would like, Flowers or a plant is nice. Some kind of bath and body work basket, a decorative plate, picture frame. Take a look around the house and see what her taste would be. Does she drink coffee? They sell gift sets. If she has a sweet tooth some candy is nice.

I am grown up woman now but little bit confused in my life.

Answer
Numerology Birthday

With a birthday on the 23rd of the month (5 energy) you are inclined to work well with people and enjoy them. You are talented and versatile, very good at presenting ideas. You may have a tendency to get itchy feet at times and need change and travel. You tend to be very progressive, imaginative and adaptable. Your mind is quick, clever and analytical. A restlessness in your nature may make you a bit impatient and easily bored with routine. You may have a tendency to shirk responsibility. Very sociable, you make friends easily and you are an excellent traveling companion.

Numerology Personal Year 2008 Number: 3

There are opportunities to expand & develop, the fruits of your labour of the past few years is about to be rewarded, whether in business or personal relationships. The influence this year is to experience pleasure & happiness & to express the joy of being alive. Be enthusiastic in your endeavours. Enjoy your friends, lead an active social life, & enjoy yourself, it is time to have fun with as little responsibility as possible. You must not however, indulge only in superficial activities. Love & romance are here to be experienced & enjoyed with the possibility of marriage or long-term commitment, be careful of pregnancies, particularly if they are not on your list of long-term plans. Concentrate on opportunities for self-improvement, particularly in the area of using any creative talents. Emphasise your ideas involving your creative talents such as acting, singing or writing, (you may surprise yourself). Use your intuition, imagination & inspiration. It is possible for a promotion or recognition in your area of employment, whatever happens will be a sound basis for the future. Itâs important to handle emotions constructively & try not to waste your energy. You may enjoy the satisfaction & accomplishment of bringing certain projects to a conclusion. Self-indulgence or extravagance could impeded your progress. All in all, enjoy & have fun!

Numerology Life Path

The number 3 Life Path is one that emphasizes expression, sociability, and creativity as the lesson to be learned in this life. Here we are apt to find the entertainers of the world, bright, effervescent, sparkling people with very optimistic attitudes. A truly gifted 3 possesses the most exceptional creative skills, normally in the verbal realm, writing, speaking, acting, or similar endeavors. The lesson to be learned with a 3 life path is that of achievement through expression. The bright side of this path stresses harmony, beauty and pleasures; of sharing your creative talents with the world. Capturing your capability in creative self-expression is the highest level of attainment for this life path. The characteristics of the 3 are warmth and friendliness, a good conversationalist, social and open. A good conversationalist both from the standpoint of being a delight to listen to, but even more importantly, one who has the ability to listen to others. Accordingly, the life path 3 produces individuals who are always a welcome addition to any social situation and know how to make others feel at home. The creative imagination is present, if sometimes latent, as the 3 may not be moved to develop his talent. The approach to life tends to be exceedingly positive, however, and your disposition is almost surely sunny and open-hearted. You effectively cope with all of the many setbacks that occur in life and readily bounce back for more. It is usually easy for you to deal with problems because you can freely admit the existence of problems without letting them get you down. You have good manners and seem to be very conscious of other people's feelings and emotions. Life is generally lived to the fullest, often without much worry about tomorrow. You are not very good at handling money because of a general lack of concern about it. You spend it when you have it and don't when you don't. On the negative side, a 3 may be so delighted with the joy of living that the life becomes frivolous and superficial. You may scatter your abilities and express little sense of purpose. The 3 can be an enigma, for no apparent reason you may become moody and tend to retreat. Escapist tendencies are not uncommon with the 3 life path, and you find it very hard to settle into one place or one position. Guard against being critical of others, impatient, intolerant, or overly optimistic. Typically, the life path 3 gives an above-average ability in some art form. This can encompass painting, interior decorating, landscaping, crafts, writing, music, or the stage, or all of the above. You are apt to be a happy, inspired person, constantly seeking the stimuli of similar people. Your exuberant nature can take you far, especially if you are ever able to focus your energies and talents.

Love & Blessings

What was memorable about your 50th birthday?

grin and b

I'm looking for ideas on what to do for a group of women turning 50 in the next 6 months. We have been best friends forever and none of us live remotely close anymore. If anyone here can suggest something, I would be grateful for your imput. We could travel somewhere to meet..., then what?

Answer
Well, the most fun I had on the 50th Birthday -- my special someone called me the night before (and yes, REMINDED me several times -- teasing that I have hit the BIG number ... (he is 5 years older than I am)), and talked and talked, made me laugh, enjoyed the conversation, the quick and witty remarks, and the 'entertaining' photos that were e-mailed ...

(and yes, you can morph the photos in several photo editing programs ... just use your creativity -- make clowns, make them have silly hats on their heads, add captions that capture their personality, etc)

Then the DAY that the person (me) turned 50 ... the special someone called once again ... and serenaded me with "Happy Birthday" ... more quick and witty remarks, lots of making me laugh, more teasing through e-mails, etc ...

For that day -- I went to get my photos done .. they were fun (I had makeup done, had my hair done, etc), shopped a bit too (and if they like something slightly sexy -- try a new fragrance or a gift certificate to some shop that they would enjoy) ...

Just have fun! You don't have to travel to see them on their 50th -- just have fun with E-Mails, phone Calls, Creativity through Photo Morphing, and (if it can be afforded) gift certificates for pampering). You know, a "Catch up and Have Fun" (girl fun!) time ... for sure!

There is nothing like getting some glam treatment, some new photos, some photo morphing (for the creative types), and some special times shared with laughs that make for a fantastic 50th Birthday!

Moroccan women only birthday gift for wife ideas?

antwan1357

My wife's birthday is coming in one week what should I get her she is still in morocco while im working in america? any ideas what I should send her? What would really impress my wife and show her I really love her?
sorry a person from the same country that is of the same sex I feel has advice advantage sorry

Answer
I'm a woman and I'd say....
I'm a Muslimah and I'd say....

Oh! I'm not Moroccan, so I guess that I'm not allowed to answer, eh???

@asker: so how about saying "Moroccan women please, or Moroccan women preferred", instead of completely discriminating against everyone else on Y!A? I'm a Muslimah in sales, who's good friend is Moroccan, and who's been to Morocco, and you are pretty much telling me that I know absolutely nothing about Moroccan women or what they would want because I'm not from there. It's rude and ridiculous, and on the same level as a Shia or Sunni or American or British only question in my opinion. We are all here to help each other... if you aren't ready to accept answers and advice from everyone here, why don't you just go ask your wife what she wants, and stop discriminating against others who aren't just like you?

Birthday Gift!?

Hi, this question might seem strange for some, but i thought i'll give it a shot nevertheless. My birthday is around the corner and my husband has told me that he would get me what i want for my birthday instead of getting it himself.

Birthday Gift Idea's for Mom's 50th?

KittenCats

Hi! I'm 13 and i really want to get my mom something that she will remember for her 50th birthday. If you could give ideas for some expensive gifts and other that are like 10-15 under that would be great! She doesn't wear makeup or perfume, she likes to read and she loves her animals, please dont seggest more animals because we cant do that. Also my older sister can drive me places, if i need her too. But i want her to have the best birthday and look at me like i the best daughter ever! Please help(:

Thanks. (:

Answer
Get a casual photo of your family & have it blown up to maybe a 5x8 size for framing.

You could have a party for her, surprise or not. Sometimes the pizza places will have a party room free of charge if you have at least 20 people. Might be that they have both pizza & pasta. That's the kind of party we had for my 50th. One all-you-can-eat buffet place in my home town had a party room, & my mother arranged to have a family reunion there.

If you want it to be a surprise, then tell her you're taking her out for pizza or whatever, then when she gets there, everybody's there. Could be both friends & family, even those coming from out of town & maybe you mom's co-workers, too.

However, when it was me, I figured out that a friend was doing a surprise party, & I told her I preferred just a party & not a surprise. I made a game of comic strips from newspapers, using white-out over the punch line for people to fill in with their own, laid out & photocopied from a single page & mailed with invitations. It was a contest, but I should have had everybody just pass them around instead of having judges. I do think one or two games is a good idea. Just give everybody little party favors, though, & not prizes for a contest that somebody has to judge.

I also wanted to do a sing-along for both kids & adults. I wanted to type out & print copies of the words of well-known songs. My friend said we should just ask the kids what they wanted to sing, & they would know the words. It never happened, & the kids just colored at the kids' tables on the pictures these places always provide. You couldn't have it very loud anyway.

Someone made my favorite huge apple cake for me, & that worked fine, cleared with the restaurant when we made the reservations. The restaurant supplied us with a stand & the plates for it by our pre-arrangement. Also, arrange to arrive 30 min. early to put up a few balloons & make sure it's all set up. You can buy or make decorations that say Happy 50th. Just get very few that you can hang & take down in 5-10 min.

This, of course, would be expensive, but in this case, you could get away with getting families to pay their own, with you just furnishing the cake. Or you could furnish pizza, with people paying for their own if they ordered anything else, like salad or pasta. You could also pay for drinks. Just figure out what you can do & let people know on the invitation. Invite about 100 people in order to get 20. That's how it was with me anyway. Let people bring kids because then more will be able to come, & besides, kids are fun sometimes, too.

Be ready, of course, to stand up & say something to the group, thanking them for coming & saying something about your mom, maybe just before singing Happy Birthday & cutting the cake. Your mom would probably want to say something, too. Whatever you each say, make it short, like 1 minute & not 5. Have someone corral the kids away while you're talking. With me, I just asked them sweetly to wait while I spoke, & it worked because I made it fast. Of course, you'll want to take some quick snapshots, too.

Either you or your sister should bring a clipboard or notebook & make a list of anybody bringing gifts so your mom can write thank-you notes afterward. For people on email, once again thank everybody who attended, too, especially if they paid for their own.

Happy 50th to your mom. It is indeed a special birthday that will be remembered.

Mum's 50th birthday gift ideas!?

EL1

Hey all

My mum turns 50 in a couple of weeks and I'm wondering if any of you have any good gift ideas... The more I think about it the less ideas I have! She seems to have everything, and I don't want to get her something unimaginative. I want to get something she will use every day and enjoy having. She doesn't drink alcohol and likes to do stuff like going out walking with the dogs and going for meals. I'm strapped for cash so my limit is around £50. Any ideas would be appreciated!

I am going to make some homemade 'I.O.U' gift certificates for my younger sister, with things written on them such as 'day at the cinema' and '1 batch of cookies' so whenever she wants to she can hand me 1 to 'redeem' it. It is part of her birthday gift.

Thank you very much, I'll pick a best answer :o)

4. Breakfast in Bed
5. Chores: You do whichever chore she has to do
6. One home cooked dinner with dessert

8. Half an Hour of relaxing foot massage after a particularly grueling day
9. A Luxurious bubble bath
10. One carwash with a promise to fill up the gas tank - Totally Free
11. One free offer of returning your library books/DVDs.
12. A night of playing your favorite game.

Answer
Is there some movie he really likes but is hard to find. my wife once bought me a movie that was not popular at all, but was one of my favorites. she had to order it. i was so impressed. that she knew. it was not even very expensive, money does not matter. she has bought me lots of expensive gifts but none that I like better. Good luck and don't just by him something cuz it is expensive... it's the thought that counts

Birthday gift for boyfriend?

captured

My boyfriend is turning 18 in about 2 weeks.
And I have NO idea what to get him.
I'm throwing him a surprise birthday party, so my budget is anything below $40. (If i'm buying it.)
I want to get him a special gift though.
Any ideas?

I'll take homemade gifts ideas too.
I want it to be romantic and special(not sex or anything like that though)

Answer
Cheapest, and BEST (romantic) idea that I have seen.

While your boyfriend is sleeping, cut off his penis (not his testicles) and put it into a wrapped box. Let him lament and be depressed for about 2 weeks, and during his birthday, give him the box with his penis! He will be absolutely ecstatic that he got his penis back. I promise you he will remember and love you always, because it will be the best gift he could EVER RECEIVE. I still thank my wife EVERY day for returning my penis!

I need a unique, cute, free-ish birthday gift idea for my boyfriend.?

His 22nd birthday is this weekend and I already bought him something expensive, but it is an event and it isn't for another two weeks. I don't want to let his birthday pass without giving or doing anything for him on the actual day...any ideas?

Answer
You can find nice ideas here if you wanna buy stuff that he will love

http://valentinelovecard.com/pg_store.php (look for his style)

Maybe something like a watch. He will wear it every day and look at it and remember about you.

You should also add some love coupons from there (they are free)

http://valentinelovecard.com/pg_love_coupons.php

You can make these love coupons more hot and more important than the expensive gift. And of course you have to act on it and do what you promise in the coupon :)

Answer
I just used this answer on another question, but just in case you didn't read it I've posted it again.
My grandmother turned 88 a few months ago and I was going through the same thing. I debated over this for a few days and finally came up with this. I searched through all my photos, called my mom and aunts and begged for their special pictures. Once I gathered all the pictures, I scanned them onto the computer and used window movie maker to come up with a dvd for her. I added music and captions. Between my mom and aunts I was able to come up with pic from my grandmother's childhood, to her latest great grand child. I started with the oldest ones first then advanced to the children, grand children then the great grandchildren.
We were having a birthday party for her at her church and I arranged for tv and dvd player at her party I played her movie. We all had mixed emotions, there were tears for the family members who had passed away, laughs for the doo whoop pictures of years passed, but all in all everyone loved it. Granmme loved it she thanked me numerous times, and said that was the most wonderful gift she could have received. My family has told me that whenever someone comes over granmme makes them watch her movie before they leave. But fair warning if you decide to do this have extra copies, because everyone will want one.

16th Birthday Gift Ideas? Help...?

SouthernBe

My boyfriend of 6 months is turning 16 in February. He loves to ski, surf, work out, and play the drums. His mom and I are throwing him a surprise party but I want to get him something cute. For Christmas I got him a digital picture frame filled with pictures of us and things we've done together. Any ideas would be very much appreciated :)
Thanks in advance :)

Answer
Sports Gear

If sports rule your boyfriend's life, you might want to find out what his favorite sports and teams are and get him something that fits into that category. For example, your guy might be really into baseball, so getting him a baseball hat might seem like a great idea, but if he's a Boston Red Sox fan, you want to make sure you don't buy him a New York Yankees hat. Or, if he's a hockey fan, getting a basketball jersey might not be the best idea. Look at what he wears, or talk to his friends about his sports likes and dislikes.
Video Games

If your boyfriend is a gamer, there might be no better gift than a video game he doesn't have yet. If there is a big release coming up near his birthday, reserve the game early and let him know (this way, he doesn't buy it himself). Or, if you know there is a big release in the future, reserve it on his birthday, and then give him the gift when the game comes out. If money is an object, many game systems come with a "Best Of" series, which usually runs about $20 cheaper than normally priced video games. These games are a bit older, but they are a good way to get a recent game for a low price.
music Lovers

If he is into music and always seems to be on his MP3 player, you may want to focus on this aspect of his personality. Think about purchasing some nice headphones for him to listen to his music on. There are some nice sound-dampening earphones that won't cost too much. If he has a favorite style of music, put together a mix CD with songs you think he might like. If you are doing this, try to put some songs he might not have heard or bands he doesn't normally listen to.

Or a Guitar :)
Good Luck!

Birthday gift?

zotomt

I'm a sophomore in high school. My girlfriend is a freshman. And I was wondering what I should get her.
Few important things:
She's the more "sensitive" type; laid back, not-so-aggressive.
She always has a twin sister next to her, so I probably get her something too.
We've been going out for 2 months.
I get somewhat anti-social (if that matters with anything) in front of her.

Naturally, I want to get her something that will make her really happy.
Any ideas?

Found this, Should be helpful:

Aries (March 21 - April 19)
Active Aries is always looking for ways to stay in shape, particularly during the holiday season... so athletic equipment is usually a good choice. People born under this sign are also fond of the color red, so a cranberry scarf or a scarlet hat could win their favor. If romance is in the air, let Aries know that you put his or her needs first. Buy tickets for two to a sporting event you loathe... or a CD by an artist you can't stand... to win big points with your favorite Ram.

Taurus (April 20 - May 20)
Taurus appreciates any gift that appeals to his or her sensual side. A box of gourmet chocolates, a richly colored tapestry or a soft cashmere blanket are all great options for Bulls. This sign also enjoys having money to play with, so a gift certificate to their favorite store is a welcome option. Always remember that quality is more important than quantity â Taurus would rather have a small bottle of expensive cologne than a carafe of the cheap stuff.

Gemini (May 21 - June 20)
Quick-witted Geminis enjoys gifts that appeal to their sizable intellects. A challenging book is always welcome, as is a magazine subscription. This sign rules the hands, so some scented hand lotion or a sparkling ring might delight. Geminis also love to entertain, so a set of glassware might fit the bill. If you want to splurge on a special Twin, give them the latest cell phone or PDA, so they can keep in touch with their gazillion friends.

Cancer (June 21 - July 22)
Sentimental Cancer loves gifts that have personal meaning. Handmade items always delight, whether it's a finger painting, angora sweater or mincemeat pie. This sign also has a special affinity for silver â a monogrammed hand mirror or picture frame would be very well received. Since Crabs have an affinity for liquids of all kinds, a special bottle of wine, a fancy cappuccino maker or a shiny tea kettle are also good possibilities. And don't forget that these Moon children love the domestic arts â a cookbook specializing in comfort food is another sure winner.

Leo (July 23 - August 22)
Lions love gifts that make them look and feel terrific. Hair accessories, cosmetics and grooming items are all good choices for this image-conscious sign. Leos love drama, and enjoy presents that involve a bit of flair. Opera tickets, gold jewelry or animal print lingerie are right up this cat's alley. Leos also love to gamble, so a sheaf of lottery tickets or a weekend getaway to the casino could make them purr with delight. When shopping for clothing, remember that Lions have a special affinity for red, gold and purple.

Virgo (August 23 - September 22)
Virgins love practical gifts...so avoid dust-catching baubles. A bread-making machine or a power drill would be equally welcome. These folks are also known to pride themselves on their impeccable appearance. Scented soaps, lotions and shampoos made by an earth-friendly company might be just the ticket. Virgos are also incredibly organized and might appreciate a good watch or a leather-bound date book. Or try a health-conscious basket of organic foodstuffs.

Libra (September 23 - October 22)
Librans have a special affinity for music, and always appreciate a good CD to add to their voluminous collection. If you want to do something really special for a Libran friend, splurge on a two concert tickets â this sign hates to do anything alone. Born beneath the sign of the scales, they also need plenty of balance in their lives, so a pair of candlesticks or bookends might appeal. If you're still stumped for ideas, have a lavish bouquet of red roses delivered accompanied by a loving handwritten note.

Scorpio (October 23 - November 21)
Scorpions are secretive by nature and enjoy gifts that obscure their appearance in some way. A pair of designer sunglasses, a filmy scarf or a slouchy hat are all great choices for this sign. These mystery-lovers also enjoy moody, atmospheric stories. A collection of film noirs on DVD are sure to go over well with your favorite Scorpion. The rumors concerning this sign's sexual appetite are happily true, so seductive lingerie would get plenty of use. Since Scorpions also like to get beneath the surface; a gift certificate for a deep-cleansing facial will be appreciated.

Sagittarius (November 22 - December 21)
As far as Archers are concerned, half the fun of getting gifts is ripping them open! If Sag doesn't like a present, though, he or she will tell you outright. Avoid awkward scenes this holiday season by giving this outdoor enthusiast some camping equipment. Hiking boots or a water-proof parka would also be appropriate. These animal lovers adore any gift associated with their pets. A calendar filled with pictures of dogs or horses is sure to elicit a big smile. Finally, you can always feed this sign's wanderlust with a comprehensive atlas.

Capricorn (December 22 - January 19)
Career-oriented Capricorn always enjoys gifts that will boost their job status. A leather laptop carrier or monogrammed briefcase would be welcome. Contrary to popular belief, though, Goats aren't all work and no play. This sign is blessed with a wicked sense of humor, so try the BBC's "The Office" series on DVD. Capricorns also love luxurious presents they'd never buy for themselves, like a silk bathrobe.

Aquarius (January 20 - February 18)
You never know what this unpredictable sign will be doing from moment to moment â one week it's skydiving and the next it's yoga! Still, this quirky sign always appreciates technological gadgets, whether it's an all-region DVD player or an iPod Nano. If you'd like to choose something a little more personal, why not make a photo album detailing all of your exploits with the Water-Bearer? Aquarius may not show it, but they harbor a special fondness for their friends. Still stumped for ideas? A basket filled with brand new socks is both weird and practical enough for this sign, which rules the ankles.

Pisces (February 19 - March 20)
These mystics love gifts of all kinds, but especially ones that help them escape the harsh realities of life. A bottle of champagne, a kaleidoscope or a book of fairy tales will appeal to your Fishy friends. And because Pisces is a Water sign, it's a good bet they'll appreciate bath salts, foaming cleansers and shower gels. If you'd like to give something really special, a digital camera will make a bit hit with this natural-born photographer. Looking for a romantic gift? Choose a gilt-edged volume of love poetry.

Cheers!

Birthday gift for 8-year-old girl?

Saggyrl

Help!! As a mom to two young boys, I am clueless when it comes to getting gifts for little girls! lol (Yes, I was a girl once but I was a tomboy and have no idea what's "cool" now for girls). :)
My older son (age 4) was just invited to our neighbor's daughter's birthday party- I believe she is turning 8 or 9 years old. What are girls this age into? She doesn't seem to be a super-pink-princess type girl either, if you know what I mean... so what would be a good, creative gift?
Thanks!

Answer
If she's not much into pink and sparkly things then probably something to do with High School musical or Hannah Montana. All the little girl's in my son's class (he's just turned 9) are into those, so that's what we buy when he's invited to their parties and it always seems to be a hit.

I need some ideas for a birthday gift - 5 year old twins boy and girl?

Nicole

do you have any ideas?
i need to order it online with delivery and i want a gift whats super surprising and awesome =)
oh...and where can i order balloons cheap for delivery?
thank you =)

Answer
It really just depends what they are into. Here are a few ideas that my 5 yr. old niece has liked:
1. big arts/crafts sets (like make your own jewelry, stepping stone, painting, etc.)
2. outside toys if it's warm where they live- balls, jumpropes, tennis raquets, etc.
3. model kits for the boy if he likes building (cars, dinosaurs, radios, etc.)
4. crystal growing kits
5. educational video games like Leap Frog's Leapster (those are huge hits but pricier!)
6. bikes
7. train set for the boy (Thomas the Train is huge)
8. kids table w/chairs for them to sit at
9. kids little sofa/chairs that fold out for sitting & playing
10. a big kids kitchen set w/pretend kitchen
11. a large dollhouse
12. electronic reading systems like Tag/Leap Frog
13. Fisher Price's Cool School computer
14. computer games

this is a small list but hopefully it will spark some ideas for you! not sure about the balloon delivery- maybe try a local flower shop?

Boyfriend Birthday Gift Ideas?

Scarlett F

Hellooo.

I'm having such a hard time picking out a gift for him even though I know his likes. We've been together six months, so I don't know what going to far would mean. I also don't want him to think that if I get him something expensive, I expect something expensive back when it's my birthday.

Anyways, he's a few things he likes:

He writes music - Maybe a journal to write his songs in? I'm having a hard time finding a decent one online, any ideas?

He's a huge The Beatles fan. He likes 60's/70's/80's music but he has A LOT of CD's already. Wouldn't know what he has or not.

He's 23 btw.

He plays the guitar and the bass.

He's a shy guy for the most part.

He still uses his walkman and carries his cd's with him everywhere... I was thinking an Ipod? But... Would that be too much?

I also saw this The Beatles throw that I think he might like.

Please Help! Anythiiiing anythiiing will be of help!

Thanks! :)

Answer
Since he still uses CDs, you could be all old school and make him a mix. Put songs you think he'll like and songs that remind you of the two of you.

A music journal is a nice idea. Have you seen the ones that have blank sheet music in them as well?
Like this: http://www.themusicstand.com/64-Page-Six-Stave-Student-Blank-Music-Book-p/567781.htm

Or here is a nice music themed regular journal: http://gifts.barnesandnoble.com/Home-gift/Musicians-Black-Notebook-Manuscript-Paper-for-Inspiration-and-Composition/e/9780762403691/

I'm a fan of Etsy and they specialize in a lot of vintagey stuff so you may find some 60s/70s/80s music themed stuff there. It's all unique and make great gifts.

They have a ton of Beatles related stuff apparently! Check it out:
http://www.etsy.com/search?search_submit=&q=beatles&noautofacet=1

An iPod is always an excellent idea for a music lover but it's up to you to try and feel out how he'd react you getting him something expensive. But like another poster suggested, Nanos and shuffles are also great options! You can even get a Beatles skin for it!

http://www.wirelessemporium.com/p-ms-1177598-the-beatles---band-music-skins-for-apple-ipod-shuffle.asp?source=gbase

Whatever you get him, I'm sure he'll love it :)

oops, sorry guys wrong section but please answer anyway!!

Answer
I am guessing you're doing a theme like "You're 70 years old." But why not take a different spin on it and do a 70's themed gift? How about a lava lamp? It would be funny, go along with the number 70, and could be used as a centerpiece!

You could also do 70's music, 70's inspired jewelry, etc.

Birthday gift ideas for men?

My boyfriend is having his 30th birthday.... and i have no idea what to get him. We have only been dating for a month or so, so i cant really make him a scrapbook/picture frame/crafty thing filled with our pictures .... Also i dont want something that screams 'IM CRAZY ABOUT YOU' but also not something that 'ohh hey your cool dude'.... i do really like him...

He is workout crazy, he works out every day and fights/boxes.... also he is super into cars, which is his profession. Other then that he loves movies, Scar face of course... but he already has probably every movie ever made.
He is a very manly man....

Do you have any idea? what about from a male perspective what would you like to receive, that would be useful? Im thinking of cologne or some shaving kit deal. ...

Answer
Why don't you give him something electronic ? If you think that's too expensive you can give him a shirt with the color you prefer on him, and tell him so. That way every time he wears it, he'll remembers you. And don't be cheap when buying the shirt either. Oh, another idea is a wallet, check the wallet he has so you pick another one similar.
