My aunt's birthday?

Awesomelic

It's my aunt's birthday and she'll be home in 2 1\2 hours or longer. What should I do? I have gifts, but I don't know if I should decorate or something. And if I did, what would I do for decorations? We have streamers, but no balloons.

Also, and vegan recipes? She went vegan a few days ago and I don't think I have any dessert stuff that's vegan.

Answer
For vegan recipes, go to the Vegan or Vegitarian section of the Food category of this site. You'll probably get a lot of great ideas.

Can you tape a lot of paper together to make a big sign -- either a plain one, or with something amusing written on it?

All you really need, as far as decorations, is an overall impression of having decorated, of making a big deal, of letting her know this is special to you.

Maybe don't do dessert stuff, but snacky stuff -- bean dip (get beans without lard, vegitarian refrieds, which grocery stores have), guacomole is easy and vegan.

There are sweet rice cakes; maybe those would be desserty.

But try the vegans over in the category in Food; they'll know.

What could I give as a birthday gift?

Taylor

I really want to go out of my way for my best friend this year. Her birthday is in August, but I want to begin saving up for the big day. She's turning 16, so I want to make the day super special when she opens the gift I give her.

She suffers from an eating disorder, and is currently recovering very, very well.
She's vegan, and tries to eat organic also.
She's a super Beatles fan and knows everything possible about the Beatles.
She loves the Foo Fighters, especially Dave Grohl.
She plays guitar.
She likes shows involving ghosts and really likes reality television.
She has an iPhone 4, if that matters.

So please, please, help me. We've been friends for 7 years. She means the world to me. What should I get her?

What I had in mind was homemade vegan cookbook with a cute collage on the cover and a few mixtapes? I don't know! Give me some ideas :)

THANK YOU SO MUCH IN ADVANCE

Answer
How about going on a trip with her? Or to be practical, you can give her the stuffs she loves.

If you want to special and romantic, you can make album of love greeting card and collage with the photos of your two. It is really a terrific idea

Try Softease CollageFactory Pro, it is greeting card and collage maker.

boyfriend birthday gift ideas!?!? HELP!?

janice

i've been with my guy for about a year and a half now, and we didn't do the whole "real" birthday gift thing the first time around. for example, last year i made him a picture frame with some photos of us inside. this year i want to do something nice for him because he'll be turning 18. maybe not a tangible gift...but plan a nice surprise date or something. i'd appreciate some ideas! :)

Answer
Well I guess it depends on how old you are. If you can drive then you should take him on a little road trip to a town or city you guys have never been to. You can spend the whole day there. You guys could eat at a nice restaurant, go to a concert or movie, and just take a walk down the main street enjoying the sites. That would be a memorable way to spend his birthday. You could also look at these gift ideas specifically for 18yr olds http://www.giftgrease.com/eighteen-year-old.html You should get a ton of suggestions on what gift would be good for him. Hope this helps.

birthday gift ideas for my boyfriend?

samantha

My boyfriends 30th birthday is coming up and then christmas will follow shortly after so I need some gift ideas (to brainstorm), and opinions.

Guys what are some of the best gifts your girl(s) have gotten you?

he's very passionate about music and food/health. He's also into comics and some anime but we talk about that stuff too much. ...and zombie's..of course.

I considered getting him an autograph from his favorite artist, but thoughy it would loose its appeal because it wasn't given in person. And also would be hard to arrange. I also considered getting him a vinyl copy of his favorite album....but I'm not sure how good these ideas are? They're a little impersonal, but I already made him something sentimental for last vday.

Any ideas?

Answer
I congratulate you for, this is actually one of the better questions I have encountered that have ever been asked. It's refreshing to to answer this one so, I've taken time to offer you my best research and hopefully some great ideas to work with. I too, always have problems selecting the right gift for my wife so, here are a few "things" to consider when you are shopping. The vinyl idea is good as long as you can get a frame for it as well to hang on the wall. This was one of my favorite gifts ~

The food & health industry offers some great ideas too considering I once sold the products from Life Extension's Durk Pearson & Sandy Shaw. The formula 'Fast Blast' is quite refreshing and gives everyone a real boost. I sold 1,000's of this product cause, everyone loves it. You'd be surprised how wonderful all their health formulas are. Some of their books may seem outdated today but, they still stand the test of time and those that have followed them from the 80's & still purchase their products are quite healthy & naturally strong.

The other true & thoughtful gifts are jewelry. Gold bracelets are a fantastic although can be costly unless you use financing from the better stores. Gold chain pendants of his favorite team or custom made music groups names and logos are a real treat ! ENJOY ~

But, if it is sold out - give him a gift certificate (make one yourself if you have to) good for 1 WII and some games.

I'm turning twelve in two weeks and I need an idea for a gift. I already have a phone, laptop, ipod, wii, and a dsi. Got any ideas?

Answer
For your birthday you don't really need to spend much to have a great time. Try to have it in a skating rink or golf course. You could also have it in an arcade if you and your friends like to play games. Just be sure you have enough snacks and drinks for everyone. Start telling your friends and family the type of gifts you want now so they can buy them in time. If you need gift ideas you should check out this page. It has gifts specifically for teens http://www.giftgrease.com/teengifts.html You could also ask for a Ribbon e-gift card. It is a new type of gift that allows you to actually pick the gift you want online and it will be shipped to you for free.. It has alot brand-named merchandise that you will like. Here are the different types of cards you can ask for. http://www.giftgrease.com/ribbon-e-gift-cards.html I know birthdays are not all about gifts but it really makes things alot more memorable. Hope this helps.

Answer
Found this, Should be helpful:

Aries (March 21 - April 19)
Active Aries is always looking for ways to stay in shape, particularly during the holiday season... so athletic equipment is usually a good choice. People born under this sign are also fond of the color red, so a cranberry scarf or a scarlet hat could win their favor. If romance is in the air, let Aries know that you put his or her needs first. Buy tickets for two to a sporting event you loathe... or a CD by an artist you can't stand... to win big points with your favorite Ram.

Taurus (April 20 - May 20)
Taurus appreciates any gift that appeals to his or her sensual side. A box of gourmet chocolates, a richly colored tapestry or a soft cashmere blanket are all great options for Bulls. This sign also enjoys having money to play with, so a gift certificate to their favorite store is a welcome option. Always remember that quality is more important than quantity â Taurus would rather have a small bottle of expensive cologne than a carafe of the cheap stuff.

Gemini (May 21 - June 20)
Quick-witted Geminis enjoys gifts that appeal to their sizable intellects. A challenging book is always welcome, as is a magazine subscription. This sign rules the hands, so some scented hand lotion or a sparkling ring might delight. Geminis also love to entertain, so a set of glassware might fit the bill. If you want to splurge on a special Twin, give them the latest cell phone or PDA, so they can keep in touch with their gazillion friends.

Cancer (June 21 - July 22)
Sentimental Cancer loves gifts that have personal meaning. Handmade items always delight, whether it's a finger painting, angora sweater or mincemeat pie. This sign also has a special affinity for silver â a monogrammed hand mirror or picture frame would be very well received. Since Crabs have an affinity for liquids of all kinds, a special bottle of wine, a fancy cappuccino maker or a shiny tea kettle are also good possibilities. And don't forget that these Moon children love the domestic arts â a cookbook specializing in comfort food is another sure winner.

Leo (July 23 - August 22)
Lions love gifts that make them look and feel terrific. Hair accessories, cosmetics and grooming items are all good choices for this image-conscious sign. Leos love drama, and enjoy presents that involve a bit of flair. Opera tickets, gold jewelry or animal print lingerie are right up this cat's alley. Leos also love to gamble, so a sheaf of lottery tickets or a weekend getaway to the casino could make them purr with delight. When shopping for clothing, remember that Lions have a special affinity for red, gold and purple.

Virgo (August 23 - September 22)
Virgins love practical gifts...so avoid dust-catching baubles. A bread-making machine or a power drill would be equally welcome. These folks are also known to pride themselves on their impeccable appearance. Scented soaps, lotions and shampoos made by an earth-friendly company might be just the ticket. Virgos are also incredibly organized and might appreciate a good watch or a leather-bound date book. Or try a health-conscious basket of organic foodstuffs.

Libra (September 23 - October 22)
Librans have a special affinity for music, and always appreciate a good CD to add to their voluminous collection. If you want to do something really special for a Libran friend, splurge on a two concert tickets â this sign hates to do anything alone. Born beneath the sign of the scales, they also need plenty of balance in their lives, so a pair of candlesticks or bookends might appeal. If you're still stumped for ideas, have a lavish bouquet of red roses delivered accompanied by a loving handwritten note.

Scorpio (October 23 - November 21)
Scorpions are secretive by nature and enjoy gifts that obscure their appearance in some way. A pair of designer sunglasses, a filmy scarf or a slouchy hat are all great choices for this sign. These mystery-lovers also enjoy moody, atmospheric stories. A collection of film noirs on DVD are sure to go over well with your favorite Scorpion. The rumors concerning this sign's sexual appetite are happily true, so seductive lingerie would get plenty of use. Since Scorpions also like to get beneath the surface; a gift certificate for a deep-cleansing facial will be appreciated.

Sagittarius (November 22 - December 21)
As far as Archers are concerned, half the fun of getting gifts is ripping them open! If Sag doesn't like a present, though, he or she will tell you outright. Avoid awkward scenes this holiday season by giving this outdoor enthusiast some camping equipment. Hiking boots or a water-proof parka would also be appropriate. These animal lovers adore any gift associated with their pets. A calendar filled with pictures of dogs or horses is sure to elicit a big smile. Finally, you can always feed this sign's wanderlust with a comprehensive atlas.

Capricorn (December 22 - January 19)
Career-oriented Capricorn always enjoys gifts that will boost their job status. A leather laptop carrier or monogrammed briefcase would be welcome. Contrary to popular belief, though, Goats aren't all work and no play. This sign is blessed with a wicked sense of humor, so try the BBC's "The Office" series on DVD. Capricorns also love luxurious presents they'd never buy for themselves, like a silk bathrobe.

Aquarius (January 20 - February 18)
You never know what this unpredictable sign will be doing from moment to moment â one week it's skydiving and the next it's yoga! Still, this quirky sign always appreciates technological gadgets, whether it's an all-region DVD player or an iPod Nano. If you'd like to choose something a little more personal, why not make a photo album detailing all of your exploits with the Water-Bearer? Aquarius may not show it, but they harbor a special fondness for their friends. Still stumped for ideas? A basket filled with brand new socks is both weird and practical enough for this sign, which rules the ankles.

Pisces (February 19 - March 20)
These mystics love gifts of all kinds, but especially ones that help them escape the harsh realities of life. A bottle of champagne, a kaleidoscope or a book of fairy tales will appeal to your Fishy friends. And because Pisces is a Water sign, it's a good bet they'll appreciate bath salts, foaming cleansers and shower gels. If you'd like to give something really special, a digital camera will make a bit hit with this natural-born photographer. Looking for a romantic gift? Choose a gilt-edged volume of love poetry.

Cheers!

my moms 50th birthday is coming up. . ideas for gifts she'd like ?

snoop d

she likes reading books, she likes romantic comedy movies and stuff like that. . . what would be an ideal gift.

Answer
If you really want to give her something she would use and like, try a manicure or massage. It's something for HER and most women love that kind of thing!
Gifts for women can be a challenge simply because of their various interests and hobbies. Women 50-65 years old can especially be challenging as this time in their life can be different from woman to woman. Many women at this age are preparing to retire or have retired, becoming grandmothers or are already grandmothers, and enjoying their womanhood at this stage in their lives. So finding the perfect gift may just take a little preparation and even a little research. Below I have provided a few ideas and options to help you get started shopping for that special woman in your life whether it be your mother, grandmother or wife.
Gift Idea #1: Many women at this age enjoy collecting photos of their family and friends. A photo album, scrapbook or even picture frames are always nice gift ideas. Adding a photo of your family will make her day even more. If she does enjoy scrapbooking, consider giving her scrapbook supplies such as decorative paper, stickers, glue, and other small embellishments.
Gift Idea #2: Clothing is always a nice gift to receive. Consider buying your special lady a new robe or a new set of pajamas. Many women don't think about shopping for themselves. So a gift like this will show that you care. Slippers or even a blanket are also great gifts to consider.
Gift Idea #3: A vacation just might be what the woman in your life needs. If she has just retired and is looking for a way to unwind after years of work, consider booking her a getaway with some friends of hers. Many cruise lines cater to this age group, and the options are very affordable.
Gift Idea #4: Books are another option if she is wanting to relax and enjoy herself. It has probably been awhile since she has sat down and allowed herself to read a good book. Consider a title by her favorite author or even a historical book of the area she grew up in so she can enjoy fond memories of her childhood.
Gift Idea #5: Give your special woman a spa package as a gift. Taking a day to pamper herself will make her feel extra special and renewed. A simple package could include a facial and a manicure, or you could go all out with the works of a massage and a wrap.
Gift Idea #6: Find out what kind of hobbies she likes. If she enjoys gardening, give her a gift basket full of gardening goodies such as seeds, new tools, sunscreen, a knee pad, and a gardening book. If she likes to knit, buy her some new yarn and a new pattern book. If she likes to cook, consider a gourmet gift such as a new cookbook, new cookware, or even a cooking class she has always wanted to try.
Gift Idea #7: Gift cards might be a good gift for your lady. If she has a tight budget or a fixed income, the extra support in gift cards are sure to show you care. Consider stores like grocery stores, department stores, gas cards, and even the movies. This allows her to buy what she needs and enjoy herself on occasion also.
Gift Idea #8: Consider having a family get together as a gift to the woman in your life who is 50-65. Chances are family members are spread out, and time together might be uncommon. Spending the day together doing an outing or making a special meal may be the perfect gift of quality time.
Other gift ideas that might be the perfect gift depending on her interests include: candles, exercise equipment, a collection of their favorite songs, a journal, perfume or bath products, a new camera, and flowers.

Answer
Birthday gift for a 9-year old boy:

1. A roll of Mentos and two 2-liter bottles of Diet Coke (once is never enough!!!)

2. An empty water bottle, a box of baking soda, and a jar of white vinegar.

3. A box of borax, a bottle of Elmer's glue, a bottle of water, and a ziploc bag.

4. A box of cornstarch and a bottle of water.

5. Directions on how to use all these GREAT gifts! (Directions are as follows:)

Do all of these experiments outside:
1. Dump the Mentos in the Diet Coke and BACK UP!
2. Put some baking soda in the water bottle, add some vinegar, and BACK UP!
3. Mix 1 tablespoon of Borax with 1/2 cup of water, mix 1/4 cup glue with 1/4 cup water, pour both mixtures into ziploc bag and knead until it turns to goop. Gross out your friends with it!
4. Mix cornstrach with a small amount of water until it turns to goop. Try to pick it up; try to squeeze it; try to jab it with your finger.

It sounds unusual, but I guaratee it will be the best gift he gets! He will remember it for years to come. I had a "Science Experiment Party" for my son's birthday and I already have kids at school asking me when his next birthday party will be (ummm ... in 10 months!) I've assembled kits like this for kids' gifts (I measure everything out into labled baggies and put it all in a canvas bag from the craft store with directions for the experiments- you can add saftey goggles and an apron if you like), and even though the moms complain a little, even they have to admit how cool and fun they are!!

What is the strangest gift you have ever gotten?

WAKE UP!!

i am curious if anyone out there has ever received a really weird gift i don't care if it was on your birthday Christmas wedding i just want to hear it

Answer
Back when my younger brother really was my "little brother," he gave me a couple straight from his heart, but not the most typical gifts one could give.

When he was about seven, Dad gave him a miniature tool chest. The tools worked (not well, but they worked), but they were for little hands. One of the tools was a saw. Imagine trying to saw a 2 X 4 piece of wood with a saw that had a 3 inch blade and was dull. But he did. He was just young enough and new enough that he couldn't cut straight down. So, for Christmas I got a five-sided miniature "TV set" for my dollhouse. It looked like a piece of scrap wood off the end of the 2 X 4, but he penned in the picture screen, the knobs on the TV, and the head shot of a person on the TV. (Unknown if that person is male or female.) I've kept it and it's still in the dollhouse almost 40 years later.

When he 12, he gave me this huge gift, wrapped only like a kid can wrap it, and the perfect shape of a Christmas tree. It was a Christmas tree. Apparently a neighbor threw out their old plastic tree, and he thought I was broke (because it was my first year on my own and he had no idea that no one, in their first year of work after college makes the same kind of money as a chemical engineer, so he just knew I made a lot less than Dad lol), so I needed a Christmas tree. We grew up with real trees, so he had no idea that plastic trees came with their own base. That one didn't have one, so it was useless. I felt bad for him. It was a very thoughtful gift, but Dad laughed so hard tears were streaming down his face, and there is something about watching someone have a laughing fit that just makes you have to laugh too. I thanked him, told him it was a wonderful thought, but after watching Dad laugh for a while, I joined in. To this day, I don't know if my younger brother thought I was laughing at him. I wasn't. I was laughing at Dad (who was rather mean for laughing that much.)

S and Whimsy got my nightgowns! (Okay, Whimsy's nightgowns would probably be too small for me, but it's the thought that counts, right? lol) Just goes to show, one person's dud is another person's ideal gift. lol

Son is making no progress; Internet Exhibitionism?

Sykes

I find all of this a little embarrassing to be honest. Quite some time ago, maybe 3 years now, my son began a strict diet and fitness training program because he wanted to finally do something with his life. At first, his progress was pretty good. Over the course of 8 or so months, he lost some weight, and was finally properly filling out his clothes as a young boy should.

At this point, I noticed a peculiar trend. He was taking pictures of himself with a towel draped over his head and posting them on the internet. This, I found disturbing, but I figured he would possibly grow out of it. This behavior, however, continued. I noticed him spending more and more time on the internet, taking pictures to post for what I ashamedly presume to be some sort of sexual roleplay.

As time went on, I noticed a disturbing trend; MY SON WAS MAKING NO PROGRESS. He spent all his hours on the internet or in the gym, stuck to his regimented diet, but suddenly his body stopped changing. Nothing he seemed to do changed anything. I feel horribly for my son, but he's not exactly the approachable type. He actually screamed at and abused a local elderly man for looking at him "the wrong way". I apologized promptly, but was mortified.

My question is this; Why is this happening? Does it have anything do with creatine? Could it be some form of roid rage (I know this is kind of crazy)? Why is my son spending all his time on the internet posting his body but making no progress anymore? I want him to be well, but he is no longer improving his body, despite the fact that I think he is still trying.

Answer
How old is your son?

Itâs very common for parents to have issues with teenage boys (and girls as I heard, I do not have girls...but I heard about mother/daughter issues).

Iâm pretty sure that statistically speaking, it would be uncommon to not have issues with your teenage children. I think rebelling against your parents is a healthy phase of growing up. I saw a TV talk show once (Bill Maher) and the guests were teenage children of celebrities. The kids having âdrug and sexâ rock stars as parents looked very proper and well dressed like they were applying for an office job. The kids having good posture/properly dressed parents, like a TV news announcer or a politician, looked like tattooed rock stars wannabe, chewing gum and wearing leather.
Look at Chaz Bono. S/he went from Chastity Sun Bono (a cute little blonde girl) to Chaz Salvatore Bono (a fat man with dark hair), even changing sex and surgically cutting her breasts off, to be as far away from her/his mother Cher.

Iâm kind of messy, just to have tidy kids, rebelling against me with their tidiness and vacuuming the house! (Whoâs the smart one?)

Donât worry about erratic behavior. Itâs probably hormonal and will subside when he becomes an adult. Hormonal imbalance happens again in your 50s (female menopause) or 45s/50s up until 70s, which is the much slower male menopause...hello, male midlife crisis and depression! Balding guys buying a sport car in their 40s and replacing their wife with a woman half their age, thinking it will solve their problem and then complaining about it because it does not but they lost their life saving in the divorce settlement!

When I stopped giving cash (money bills) to one of my sons, hoping he would stop smoking pot...he just got a job and paid for his own pot. He has no other expenses as he can use a credit card for groceries, restaurants, gas and his phone bill and other expenses like college tuition and gym membership are being taking care of...but he needed cash for pot (I guess drug dealers do not accept credit cards?) so he had to get a job. And I never smoked pot so Iâm one of those rare parents who can lecture their kids about it without getting the âhypocriteâ thing back in their face. Still...does not work at all. I donât get the âhypocriteâ defense as I never smoked pot but I get the âmaybe you should try itâ defense so Iâd feel better and stop ranting about it!!!

Whatever is happening, take a deep breath and a step backward to get a better whole picture. Soon enough your son will mature and youâll get old enough to not think that âmaybe 3 yearsâ is âquite some time agoâ. 2008 was like yesterday for me. Even 2006 was not long ago when my ex-husband cheated on me, then 2007 he confessed, 2008 he started the divorce proceeding, 2009, the divorce was finalized, finally, then 2010 waiting for the paperwork and the transfer of asset then 2011, now...still waiting.
â3 years agoâ is only âquite some time agoâ if youâre young. If youâre a parent of a teenager, itâs is not âquite some time agoâ (your teenage boy was a toddler like yesterday), so you could be pretending to be older as other people are pretending to be younger.

Whatâs up with you beef about him not improving his body despite the fact that heâs still trying?!?
Is this about exhibitionism or gaining muscle mass?

Itâs hard for people of a certain age (like over 40 with teenage kids) to comprehend the lack of privacy that young people exhibit online.
I feel offended when someone casually asks how old I am...from where I come from, you do not ask her woman her age (tomorrow is my dreadful birthday...gosh! one more year closer to death!).

At least your son wraps a towel to mask his face...get him a kidnap victim terrorist hood for his next birthday...just thinking of gift ideas.

Now...Iâm wondering...how do you know about your teenage sonâs behavior online? Teenagers are usually masters at hiding their online behavior from their parents. When my son accidentally left his laptop to my reach, I promptly printed out a beautiful picture of him (playing in the snow) but then he saw it (I did not hide it) and gave me the 3rd degree about getting into his account. I just wanted a recent picture of him being happy..I love his high school picture but it was years ago. Complete strangers can see hundreds of pictures of him online but as his mother, I cannot have one picture to put in a frame?!?
Maybe I need to pretend being a stranger online, maybe create an online personality, befriend one of his friends and get into his network that way!

It really just depends what they are into. Here are a few ideas that my 5 yr. old niece has liked:
1. big arts/crafts sets (like make your own jewelry, stepping stone, painting, etc.)
2. outside toys if it's warm where they live- balls, jumpropes, tennis raquets, etc.
3. model kits for the boy if he likes building (cars, dinosaurs, radios, etc.)
4. crystal growing kits
5. educational video games like Leap Frog's Leapster (those are huge hits but pricier!)
6. bikes
7. train set for the boy (Thomas the Train is huge)
8. kids table w/chairs for them to sit at
9. kids little sofa/chairs that fold out for sitting & playing
10. a big kids kitchen set w/pretend kitchen
11. a large dollhouse
12. electronic reading systems like Tag/Leap Frog
13. Fisher Price's Cool School computer
14. computer games

this is a small list but hopefully it will spark some ideas for you! not sure about the balloon delivery- maybe try a local flower shop?

Ok to put birthday gift ideas for 2yr old on invites?

pookiesmom

Our son's 2nd birthday is coming up and we're getting him a train/car table to play on, he LOVES trains, cars, etc. Is it ok on the bottom of the invites to put something along the lines of (child's name) loves trains, cars & dinosaurs! to give guests (most of which is family) ideas. They tend to ask anyway so I thought this might help?
I got quite the variety of answers..LOL We tried the registry thing before with my daughter a few years ago & only 1 person got something off it so we won't bother with that again. My son is SOO not picky so it's not really about him getting something he doesn't like but more just to give people ideas if they need them. That and we're getting him the table so it'd be great to have things to play on it with. His invites and entire theme are Tonka trucks so I'm sure people would get the idea from that..think I'll let them take the hint from there or get what they want. I just wish more people would give gift receipts or buy form places that aren't so strict about returns. We had a big problem with that my daughter's last b-day so we just donated them. Thanks for all the ideas!!

Answer
I sent my e-mail along with "any questions" and most people that responded wanted to know what the boys liked to play.. It worked out really well and we didn't have much to return.. Also, a gift receipt helps a lot when returning.. If someone asks for a list give them some ideas... Good luck

Ideas for boyfriends birthday gifts?

earendur_a

My boyfriend works as a conductor for a train company so that takes up most of his time. When he does have spare time he likes to play mmorpgs and play Magic the Gathering. He likes reading and action or horror movies.

So far I've gotten him absinthe hand lotion because his hands get so dry after work, moisturizing lip chap with spf because he'll be outside in the summer a lot and he keeps stealing my tinted lip chap which does not look good on him. I'm also getting him a pair of dog tags; one with his grandpa's name, date of birth and date of death, and I'm thinking of leaving the other one blank so he can choose what to put on it.

Any other ideas on what I can get him? He doesn't want clothes. I've done the personal hand made things but they just kind of get tossed in a corner. He's turning 25.

How do I throw a 30th Birthday Party for my single friend?

Help me ou

My single girlfriend is turn 30 this year. Does anyone have an clever ideas for decorations or a theme?

Answer
I'm single and also turning 30 this year. Hey, maybe you're my friend and this party is for me! ha! just kidding... ;)

If she's anything like me, and dreads turning 30, the last thing I want is to have people rubbing my new age-bracket in my face. Who wants to be reminded of how old they are getting when they're still single? So forego any "Over-the-Hill" type of decorations, or anything referring to "Old Maid" (I absolutely HATE that term!!!) Here are some parties that she may like:

-Honestly, I think a dinner party with her closest friends would be the best. Make reservations at her favorite restaurant and make a fun night of it. Take pictures!
-If she hates the thought of turning 30, do a "Happy 1st Anniversary of turning 29" party. Have 29 pink candles and 1 white candle decorating a white-frosted cake.
-Decorate the party like the 70's since that was the year she was born and have everyone wear 70's attire and play 70's music. Have 70's style posters decorating the room and maybe a history board of pictures of her growing through the years.
-Or if she's a fan of the 80's, throw an 80's style party, same idea as the 70's version...
-Or perhaps if she's a movie buff, have a party of "Big Movie Hits of the Last Three Decades". Have everyone dress up as their favorite movie character over the last 30 years.
-Maybe have people bring inexpensive gifts in thirty's. Thirty candy bars, thirty birthday cards about turning 30, a mixed CD with 30 songs on it, etc. Let your guests be the creative ones too.
-Murder mystery parties are awesome.
-Perhaps if you and her close friends can afford it, go on a road trip somewhere and celebrate. Vegas, Atlantic City, etc.

I don't suggest strippers or strip clubs. To me, that's fun in your early 20's. Turning 30 is a big step and the party shouldn't be reduced to something silly, unless she would like that...? *shrug*

***The most important part: Whatever you decide to do, invite men and women. If any of your guests have any potentional, great single men, bring them along! The more the single men, the merrier, right? ;)

Good luck! I'm sure she (and everyone else) will have a blast! And how thoughtful of you to do this for her! :)

Is this a good gift for a reader?

Tamara

My boyfriend and I love to read and he does not have a bookcase yet. So, for his B-Day I am going to get him a 6 foot bookcase from Ikea.

I will also be buying him this list of books:

-The Outsiders (he loved the movie, has yet to read the book)
-Do Androids Dream of Electric Sleep? (he loved blade runner but has yet to read the book)
-Watchmen (he likes comics and graphic novels)
-Fight Club (loves Palahniuk, loved the movie, hasn't read the book)
-World War Z (he has read it, he loved it but does not own it)

Is this a good idea for his birthday gift? i already have his Christmas in the works so its going to have be for his b-day.

I am also considering throwing in a booklight.

Answer
Brilliant idea! I have a couple of book lights myself and they are a godsend to read when the husband wants to sleep as they only light my page! and I take one on my nightshift incase I have to be in the patients room. I also invested in a book holder too great for propping books and hold down pages in the wind when reading on the beach as I do!

Link to the book holder I got for myself and a friend's birthday.

What is a good fundraising idea for a personal trip?

Q. I am trying to go on a leadership trip with my school's gifted program to Columbia University this summer. It cost around $1600 and is a 6 day trip in New York City. I just need some ideas that my friend and I can use to raise that money.

Answer
Grocery bagging, candy selling, gift wrap sell, and gift wrapping holiday gifts, birthday gifts,, car wash, detail car, house cleaning, cooking, babysitting, leaf raking, snow shovel, personal shopper,, chauffeur, dog walker, pet sitter, house sitter, tutor, senior companion, errand runner, fruit and nut picker, usher at local theatre.

You could call around and see who locally sponsors scholarships, and funds for academic support. Churches are good too.

And lastly .....set up a spot in a ladies room with a designer fragrance, mints, gum, kleenex, and stuff.... if a club will allow. Don't forget to take all the paper towels and make us pay for free stuff lol.

Seriously good luck on your job search, and continue to stay focused in school.

Adult seeks "green" gift for 13-year-old. Help!?

Canebrake

I'm attending a bar mitzvah soon for a kid who is very much into environmental issues, and I'd like my gift to be in this area. He lives in New York City, Upper West Side, a stone's throw from Broadway (up there), so he's a sophisticated urbanite--as sophisticated as one can be at 13. If possible, I want to get him something other than money or a donation to some cause or another or a gift card or anything electronic, video or computer related. I'm figuring $50 to $100. Any ideas? Thanks.

Answer
The same type of gift that is appropriate for a 13 year old birthday is also approriate for a bar/bat mitzvah. Generally close family gives Judaic gifts (such as kiddish cup, tallis bag, tefillin), so friends tend to give more neutral gifts. I find asking the parents what the child wants is the best bar/bat mitzvah gift-giving strategy.

Some popular gifts today include books, music, magazine subscription, DVD, computer and video games, software, camera, binoculars, watch, army knife, skate board, and sleeping bag. Gift certificates and cash also work well as bar/bat mitzvah gifts. Some people give cash in multiples of 18 as the the Hebrew word for life (chai) has the numerical value of 18 in Judaism.

Birthday gift ideas for my boyfriend - a single dad of 2.?

Lynn1111

This is a really special guy - I am 30 years old and 28 weeks pregnant. I was going to be a single mom and very okay with it - out of NOWHERE, came my current boyfriend (35 year old single dad of 2). He has been super awesome and supportive and, most importantly, okay with me being pregnant. He's excited about being in my life at this point and I've been confused about the situation but thrilled. He's so wonderful and I feel like the luckiest woman alive.

ANYWAY....... his birthday is a little over a week and I have no clue what to do for him, get for him. He doesn't have too many hobbies, isn't really into sports... just spends all of his time with his kids. He's extremely romantic... I just want to make it a special day for him and I am pretty sure his kids will be involved with whatever we do (I could be wrong but I'm leaning towards them being with us).

Any suggestions?

Thank you!

Answer
If hes a dad of 2 and very dedicated to them and you then i would say maybe a weekend getaway for all of you so he can relax. And like make him a cake or order one and it just be you four. That would be nice. Or get him a spa day while you watch his kids.

What should I get my pregnant wife for her birthday?

KOTS

I'm having a hard time figuring out what to get my wife this year for her birthday. She doesn't want any clothes, shoes, or things that won't fit or are uncomfortable right now since she is pregnant. I usually get her something that she wants really bad but won't buy for herself and then try to do something unique or special but she doesn't really want anything right now. Anyone have any ideas? I don't want to get something related to the baby because I will do that after the baby is born and I want the gift to be about her.

Answer
Get her some birth control! haha! . . .sorry you probably didn't find that very funny. . .

Get her some jewelery like a necklace or something like that. If she likes being pampered, offer her a day at the spa (with or without you). If she is sore or achy like some pregnant women, she'll appreciate a massage or or maybe a pedicure!

Birthday present ideas?

brianna

16th birthday! I was thinking about making a "cake" consisting of a bunch of presents.
Any ideas for what to get?
-Harry Potter fan
-girly-girl(clothes,etc), but huge soccer player/snowboarder
-loves fall
-loves the Jonas Brothers
-loves to shop
-finds silly things funny (she laughs out loud at the jokes on popsicle sticks)

any ideas?

Answer
Sounds like you have PLENTY of good old-fashioned imagination already... love your idea!! The different "layers" pretty well take care of themselves: perhaps a "special edition" of the first 6 Harry Potter movies, or an interesting piece of "Potter-abilia" found on eBay or something, a wild, custom-made soccer or snowboarder t-shirt, a beautiful pressed leaf showing fall colors (depending on where you live you should be able to find a few "early bird" leaves now that Sept is upon us), preserved between sheets of wax paper, a hard to find perhaps early Jonas Brothers album, a gift certificate to her favorite shopping destination, and i am sure you can find or make some great "silly things".... you don't say whether you are her mother or a friend but either way she sure is lucky to have you in her life!!!

is this a good going away gift?

anonymous

A friend of mine is going to basic training in a month, in two months I'm moving to Chicago, so it's going to be a long time before we get to see each other.
I want to get her a going away/early birthday gift. I'm thinking of a fancy journal and pen. Something she'll be able to use at Basic.
Any other gift ideas?

Answer
A journal is a wonderful idea... I would say maybe some stamps and envelops so you can mail each other... My wife said she hated that she couldn't contact anyone by anymeans since she left with only her phone and nothing else, but cadet phone use is limited.

my gf's birthday idea?

KB24

my girlfriend is turning 18 this Sunday and I wanna give her a different kind of gift sort of like and awesome experience. We have been together for 2 years and 3 months, We live in Chicago and i was thinking of taking her to the Sears Tower (Willis Tower) on the 103rd floor and having a romantic dinner. She has never been there and I think it would be awesome, there's a catch though. The price is $100 per person so i would waste $200, keep in mind im paying for my college and have bills to pay. Should I take her there for her bday or should i wait for our 3 year anniversary instead to take here to the Willis tower on our 3 year anniversary? What do you guys think? For a girl is her bday more important? or is a 3 year anniversary more important?

PS: if 3 year anniversary is more important what other ideas do you guys have for her bday? THANKS TO ANYONE THAT HELPS OUT!

Answer
Birthdays and anniversaries are both important to us women. But we marvel more over our man remembering an anniversary. Because EVERYone remembers our birthday. However, if her BD marks your 2 yr, 3 mo. anniversary... you could combine the two, but make sure you give her two separate gifts. Like dinner for her BD, plus something for her to open for the anniversary.

I say take her there for her 18th! It's certainly not a waste of money because you'll be showing her how much you value her. It may appear to be a financial sacrifice given your situation, but if you are serious about her, this will be an investment that pays.

My 19 year old son took his girlfriend skydiving on her 18th birthday. (luckily in summer). He knew ahead of time that she wanted to try it. She never suspected that's where he was taking her. And I wouldn't actually recommend it but maybe that might spark something else.

I was at the Willis Tower in 2011 and that glass floor shook me up, I don't know how anyone walks out onto it!

Free or low cost birthday gift ideas??

Q. My fiance's 26th birthday is Monday. Recently I had some unexpected expenses that wiped out my savings and then some. He wouldn't be upset if I didn't give him anything but I'd still like to do something.
Between his two grandmothers they have his lunch and dinner covered that day so cooking him a nice meal isn't sounding so good.
The fun erotic evening at home is out because the following morning we're leaving the house at 4am to catch a flight by 6.

I've got some paints but I'm not too creative and really just unsure what to do. Any ideas would be very helpful. Thanks.

Answer
What is your favorite thing to do together? How about a movie night at home? Do those movie packs with candy and all kinds of his favorite junkie foods and your favorites movies. Actually...HIS Favorite type movies and a bottle of wine? You can use your paints to make him a card or paint him a BIG HAPPY BIRTHDAY sign...they like to just be catered to and made feel special. I'm sure he'll recognize your attempt regardless of how much you have to spend. Or something that he could use while you are on your trip? I know you said that you had some traveling planned. You can also bake him something...(think of things you liked to do when you were younger and go that way!) :) good luck!

Birthday Gift Ideas? Please help?

My boyfriend's birthday is coming up and I have no idea what to get him. We have been going out for 3 years, and he never tells me what he wants/needs. I would like to get him something fun, but don't know what to get him. He is turning 20 if that helps at all...
He likes computer games, but he has everything he needs for that. He also has a PSP, but he hasn't showed any interest in games other than the ones he has.

Answer
Make it a romantic gift and don't spend much. Print some love coupons or buy some (there are booklets). Here is a place where you can print them for free http://valentinelovecard.com/
I am sure he will love the gift :)

Any birthday gift ideas ?

Lexi

My daughters birthday is on the 15th & she will be turning 3 ! :)
Still being somewhat of a new mom to my first child + still being young AND a girl, i love to shop, so i have obviously already picked out quite a few little gifts for her over the past month or so, but i want to hear some of you guys' ideas !
She is a little girly girl !
she loves pinks & purples .
she loves dancing, dressing up, playing with jewelry, ect..

I love shopping for her & i do have money i put aside for her birthday every year, but keep in mind that i'm only 19 & started my first year of college in the fall, so i unfortunately don't have endless amounts of moo-la !

let's hear those ideas !
Thanks a ton !
â¥Lex

Answer
I think, what would be a nice idea in the future it that since you love shopping, and I assume your daughter will too you could go on a shopping trip together - but that's in the future as she a little young at the moment. :P

Maybe you could begin making her a book this year. So if you buy a pink/ purple book (as you say she loves those colours) and stick in loads of pretty things and pictures, and record everything about her. Like her first words and steps and things - things you remember from over the past three years. THen you could have fun making it yourself, and buying all the bits for it, and then you could give it too her when she is about 16 or so. - Obviously this is also for the future, but you would have to start it now :P

For now, maybe you could buy her a bike/ scooter - maybe pink. My sister bought her three year old son a scooter, and he ADORES it. I realize he is a boy, but every child loves bikes and tricycles and things. You could also buy her some princess dresses and some pretty jewelry. There are some good things around in baby shops, if you go and have a look.

Sorry about all the future stuff, I just started thinking about presents that you can start early/ plan.

Good luck!

p.s. Thank you for answering my question so nicely.

Its my boyfriends birthday soon, any ideas for a gift?

Jessica

I wanted to get him maybe a t-shirt from express since he loves express, but then I wanted to get him a more personal gift. We run track together at college, and he's very good, he also likes football. His sign is the leo (lion) & he has a tattoo of it. & he also drives me everywhere & travels alot, so i was thinking maybe something for his car, but he could careless about its appearance, but its so messy.

Any ideas would be great! I wanted to do something special, cause he got me a charm bracellett with meaningful charms on it, and a necklace with the winged foot for track too.

Answer
My boyfriend sounds a lot like yours, he's a college football player, his car is always a mess & also has tattoos. This year for his birthday I decided to get him a GUESS watch, it was just the right size...flashy but not too flashy. It looked amazing on his well-built arms (and I'm assuming your boyfriend is fit as well). During the night, his family and I took him for dinner & well let's just say dessert was to be eaten at home haha. But seriously, get him something YOU KNOW HE WILL USE, boys don't really shop that much...and remember girly, BIRTHDAY SEX.

I am going to a birthday party for my cousin who is turning 40 tomorrow. What would be a good reasonably priced gift to to give him? I know him to an extent, but I don't know intimately what he likes or dislike, so I guess I'm looking for generic type gift idea.
Well isn't that the purpose of yahoo answers: to get advice from "perfect strangers online". Hince the reason I asked for GENERIC ideas!! Check the sarcasim.

I find gift certificates are great- the all purpose gift.

Give the birthday girl a gift that she will cherish forever. These sentimental sweet sixteen gift ideas are great to give if you are family or a very close friend. This is a very simple, affordable and adorable gift to give any young lady. Write her a poem or take one from the sweet 16 poems page and re-type it out in a nice, italics font. You can purchase nice frames at any dollar store, Walmart, or Halmark store.

If you are handy on Photoshop, you can take a picture of you and her, and fade the picture out enough to see the poem. Make sure the frame fits and has a beautiful look to it. If you decide to use a picture in your poem, go to your local photography print shop and ask them to print the piece in the size according to your frame.

If she hasn't already got one and she likes listening to music an apple ipod nano (and if she's a girly girl you can get them in pink).

A digital camera (Kodak Easyshare is a nice choice for this age)

Books on hair, nails and beauty for girls

Arts and crafts stuff - you can get kits to make friendship bracelets and other jewelry making kits which girls this age love.

Great birthday gift ideas?

Flowers

My mom and her twin sister have a birthday coming up. I'm very close to both of them, it's like I have two mom's. So they both are the hardest people to buy for, if they want something they buy it for themselves. My mom is more of a t-shirt & jeans kind of gal and my aunt is always dressed to the nines. I don't have a clue as to what to get either of them. I want to get them something unique, but practical. Any great gift ideas?
They are turning 51.

Answer
ummm new watches? You can get them each their own style with the gifts also being similar and you could even have them engraved with special sayings for each of them.

My aunt is turning 18 on Tuesday and I want to make her something special. Only, I don't know what to make. She plays electric bass, skateboards, and she loves Paramore. Any suggestions?

Answer
i have the perfect idea! it's something that you can't find in stores anywhere, it's something that has to be made, but it's real easy to make. it has to do with paramore. they have an album called Riot! and the album artwork is amazing, every paramore fan knows the album artwork to Riot!
so make her a poster with the album artwork of Riot!. you don't have to be good at art or anything. it's all words. look it up on google to see what it looks like. you'll need:

4 sheets of plain white paper (or just a plain white poster, has to be WHITE)
tape
orange marker
black marker

tape the 4 pieces of paper together to make a poster (or just take your poster)
and draw the Riot! album artwork on it. the word Riot! should be across the top left corner really big in orange letters, make the letters really sketchy and messy like on the picture. the word paramore should be written big (but not as big as the orange Riot!) across the bottom towards the right of the page, in black, again, in messy letters. Then, just write the word Riot! all over the poster in different sizes, and cover the poster in that one word. some of the riot!'s are in bubble letters. All letters in the entire poster should be capitalized. (just pretty much copy the picture of the Riot! album artwork)

there you go! there's a Riot! poster. if you want, you could write in the names of the paramore members, or the songs in that album, or anything else related to paramore onto the poster (info you cann just google). i wrote all the songs in that album on my poster.

these posters are very easy to make, and she'll love it! it just takes some time, but it's worth it

20th Birthday Gift for my Boyfriend!?

hey there

My boyfriend and i have been together for two and a half years. He's older than me and a total free spirit. He goes to college in Philadelphia and is very smart. He plays basketball and some other sports but just for recreation and fun. He enjoys having a good time and has lately been obsessed with "society's pressure to conform" I dont have too much to spend - im thinking like seventy five or less? as i said he's really into this new found freedom. Hes mentioned wanting to sky dive and wants to get an iphone - obviously i dont have the resources to get him anything like that - i would if i could of course. This boy is the love of my life - but im all out of ideas!

Birthday gift?

zotomt

I'm a sophomore in high school. My girlfriend is a freshman. And I was wondering what I should get her.
Few important things:
She's the more "sensitive" type; laid back, not-so-aggressive.
She always has a twin sister next to her, so I probably get her something too.
We've been going out for 2 months.
I get somewhat anti-social (if that matters with anything) in front of her.

Naturally, I want to get her something that will make her really happy.
Any ideas?

Cheers!

Birthday gift idea for 20 year old??

Millalla

My friend just turned 20, and i need a really good gift idea. Shes really close to me so I want to get her something nice, my price range is between $100-200....wat should i get her???

Answer
20 somethings are a difficult age to buy for because they're no longer interested in teenage things, but they aren't quite in the married, house phase of life yet. I find this website really helpful, there's lots of cute, unique gifts on it that would be great. Most of the items are probably under your price range, but atleast you can get some good ideas.
