We just celebrated out 2 years, and his birthday is coming up. I have no idea what I want to get him, but I know I don't have much money to pay for something. I was going to make him 365 reasons why I love him, but it was tricky coming up with all of them. What do you suggest?

Answer
A photo album of you.

I need birthday gift ideas for my boyfriend?

Megan

My boyfriend and will be dating three months on his birthday and i have noo idea what to get him. every time i ask what he wants he says "nothing." i really want to get him an amazing gift because i love him and i want him to know i care. i would make a scrap book or something but he doesn't like taking pictures so i don't have many. also this is a long distance relationship which makes his birthday that much more difficult. if you guys could give me some ideas that would be amazinggg. hes really into skateboarding and surfing etc. if that helps?

Answer
wrap yourself in a bow, take a picture of yourself, and send him it. Btw it really doesn't matter what you get him because guys do notice that you care regardless of what you give them. It's the thought that counts and he'll notice it. And Happy B-day to him when it happens. Good luck.

I am a very tight budget for Xmas and birthday gifts. I find making something homemade is the best anyways because you put time and effort into to it. I am wondering of some frugal/thrifty ideas I could make for loved ones like family and my fiance.

What homemade gifts could I make for a 12 year old girl?

Q. I was wondering what kind of cute and inexpensive things I could make for a 12 year old girl for her birthday party. I want them to be simple but not expensive and I also want the homemade gift ideas to have common things people would have I don't want to have to go to the store and spend much money. Thanks so much!!
Please no mean, nasty, or comments of stupidity or you will be reported.

Answer
Make a model of some sort! The easiest thing to do would be to make a papercraft model of what she likes. Whether she's flowers and rainbows or skulls and crossbones, there will definitely be something on the internet. If you do decide on this, you will need .rar and .pdo support: for .rar WinRAR http://download.cnet.com/WinRAR-32-bit/3000-2250_4-10007677.html and Pepakura for .pdo http://pepakura-viewer.software.informer.com/download/

.rar files give you templates for the model and .pdo files show 3D and 2D versions of the model, showing where the tabs join.

Happy birthday to her!

What do I get my nephew for his 12th birthday?

Cowgirl101

My nephew's 12th birthday is in a few weeks and i'm clueless as to what to get him this year. He's not a normal 12 year old. He has mild cerebral palsy, and because of his mother, hardly ever stays home anymore because she's always dragging him all over the place. A video game is the obvious answer but I don't want to get him anymore mind numbing gifts. He loves to play outside and has the mindset of an 8 year old or so. Any ideas?

Answer
Some sporty stuff like soccer balls, baseball bats, roller skates. Or paints, model rocket, quiz books. For the long car rides with his mom

Tomorrow is my best friends birthday, and I want to get her something special. I want to make it myself, instead of getting her a gift card or something. At first I was gonna make a scrapbook of pictures of us, but it didn't work out. She's turning 14. What are some really good DIY birthday present ideas? She's been my best friend since we were 2 months old, so it HAS to be special! Thanks!

Answer
buy some picture frames and choose some nice pictures of the two of you, or one of you and one of her, frame the pictures and give. Awhile ago I framed some pictures of a special trip I took with my best friend, one nice picture of him and one of me, and I made two sets, one set for him and one set for me, it is nice to know we both have the same two sets of pictures in the same frames, makes it special. what frames you use depends on your budget, and/or maybe decorate the picture frames yourself to make them more unique.

What's a great 1st birthday present for a little boy?

Artemis

It's my best friend's son's birthday in a few weeks and I'm going to be out of town. I am looking for a great (and memorable!) first birthday idea from his favorite ''Auntie''.
I am rather crafty so any DIY projects are also welcomed.
I'm prone to spoiling this boy so I'm trying to keep gift ideas under $40 this time....
Moms, what would you be thrilled to see?!

Answer
baby boys LOVE trucks/cars/anything they can push and make car noises with! haha.

Im not a mom, but I worked in a daycare in the 1-2 year old room, and ALL of the little boys wanted to play with trucks and cars, all the time.

Party for a dozen 2-4 year old boys and girls, outside, in the park. Need ideas for games - already planning a little treasure hunt, and got a bubble machine, but what other games or toys are great for outdoors. Maybe take some kites? Balls? Can you think of other activities to keep them entertained for a couple of hours?!
Or maybe little craft project things for them to make while we're there?

Answer
scavenger hunt
Bake cupcakes or cookies & let them decorate them
water balloon toss
Bean bag toss
Limbo
Duck Duck Goose
Freeze Dancing

Duck Pond Grab Game
Birthday party guests pick rubber ducks out of a wading pool - they win a prize according to the number on the bottom of the duck. Write the numbers 1 - 5 (repeat numbers according to how many ducks you have) on the bottom of the ducks and place in pool. In back of the pool have 5 baskets with different prizes and number the baskets 1 through 5. Party guests pick up a duck to see what number is on the bottom then win the prize that corresponds to that number. If the birthday party guest picks up a duck with a number 4 on the bottom, they get a prize from the number 4 basket. Itâs a simple game, but children love it!

Prize Walk Birthday Game
Have a birthday prize walk instead of a cakewalk. Place numbers on the ground in a circle or oval. Start the music and the birthday party kids walk around the circle until the music stops. Pick a number out of a hat or roll a dice to decide which number wins a prize. The child that is standing on the number that is picked gets to choose a small toy from the birthday games prize table

Mystery Fishing Game
For the "water" use a large appliance box, hang a sheet across a doorway, or cover a table so that the "fish" (and the person in the water) are hidden from view. Tie a string to a stick and attach a clothespin on the end of the string. Birthday party guests take turns "casting" the line into the "water". The person in the "water" puts small gifts, favors or candy on the clothespin and then tugs the string to signal that there is a "fish" on
the line. Then kids pull up the line and retrieve their prize. This is a simple but fantastic birthday party game that kids adore! Have lots of prizes because they will all want to do this birthday party game again and again

Thats all i can think of now

What are some good gifts to give to a 7 year old girl and also need some ideas for a 3 year old boy?

Bob L

I have a combined birthday party to go to this weekend for a 7 year old girl and a 3 year old boy, and I have no idea what to get for each of them. Especially the 7 year old girl. Please help??

Answer
I have a cousin that will be turning 7 and I was going to get her some play makeup and maybe a purse and jewelry.

I also have a son that just turned 2 yrs old but he acts much older. He is into cars, monster trucks (his favorite is Grave Digger), Spiderman and Superman, anything from the movie Cars, and basketball and baseball stuff. We got him a adjustable basketball hoop that goes from 4 ft. to 6 ft. at Wal-Mart for about $30 and he's been shooting hoops like crazy for the past week! Also, depending on your budget...any of the motorized trucks, cars that they can ride in. We got our son a Spiderman 4 wheeler and it was only $65! He rode it the rest of the night at his birthday party!!!

Any ideas on what I could get a 13 yr old boy for his birthday. Something fun & educational and something constructive.

He likes to read books, write stories, basketball

Things I'm not planning to get: laptop, video games (because he has those things).

Answer
I have a nephew that is 12 & one that is 14 both have birthdays coming up in September. For the past two years for birthdays they have received Game Stop gift cards from us; for Christmas gifts they have received a hoody of their favorite college football team or race car driver, and Axe body wash set & a stocking full of their favorite candy & gum. Both boys tell our whole family that they get the best presents from us :-)
For their birthday this year we are giving the Visa gift cards that we purchased at our bank; those can be spent anywhere.
They are at an age where we just didn't know where to go with the gifts - too old for toys; have every video game already, we were just clueless but apparently we've managed to figure these two out pretty well - hope this helps you out!

What is a very cute and creative gift?

Ayame Ayam

What is a very cute and creative gift to give to a boy you adore and like? I'm 13 years old, and I have a month to buy him a present. I really want to do someone cute, sweet, and very creative, but nothing comes to mind! Any ideas? It is for his birthday.

Answer
If you want something creative, you could make him something. Go to your local crafts store (like Michael's or JoAnn Fabrics) and look around for ideas. Some possibilities (depending on what's available at that store): paint a photo frame and put in a picture of you guys, a calendar where you can insert your own photos, or knit him a scarf.

Another good idea is to get him something based on what he likes, or something related to the place where you guys first met. Does he like a certain movie, but he doesn't own it? Buy the DVD for him. Does he like sports? Maybe he'd like a sports jersey, or a sports-themed rug. I was with a guy who loved sports, so I got him a baseball, but instead of having a famous player's autograph, I wrote a cute note on the ball and signed it. Then I attached it to something it could stand on. I gave it about 6 years ago, but the boy told me he STILL keeps it on the shelf in his room.

If you're not sure what he likes, and you can't make something, just get something that could help him relax. Ideas: a massage tool/ball, a small blanket he can put over while watch TV, some men's lotion/shower gel, or a throw pillow. If you get him something along the lines of those, he'll think of you when he's relaxing and in a good mood. =]

I hope this helps.

Q. Birthday gift ideas and any other good ideas are necesary?
I need some ideas of something nice and thoughfull for my grandmother B-Day tomorrow in a couple hours any ideas? PLEASE its URGENT!!

Answer
Depends on whether you have money or not, and whether she has money, because it's harder to give thoughtful gifts to people who can buy anything.
Here are some things she might like:
* A gift certificate for a massage. A lot of older people are rarely touched. If you don't have money, offer to do it yourself. If you or she is shy, get or give her a hand massage. It's quite nice.
* Pedicure -- it's wonderful to have your toenails done, and a lot of elderly people don't take good care of their feet because they don't have flexibility.
* Offer to cook for her or take her out for a meal.
* Write her a poem about how much you love her. If you have money, buy a frame and frame it, perhaps with a picture of the two of you if you have one.
* Buy her a certificate to one of those Glamour Shots places where they do a person's makeup and then take a picture. Older women still want to be glamorous.
* If she likes to cook, buy her some really nice spices.
* If it's cold where she lives, buy her some lovely gloves.
Think about what she likes but might not buy for herself. Good luck!

Answer
Oooh! You are in a tight fix.
How "creative" are you with quick knick-knacks? Why not craft a simple (and handy) device that will help your Grandma to manipulate a (specific) item that she normally uses around the house?
OR...... You can "dress up" an item around her house (again - think CREATIVE).......
OH! How about "dressing up" / or PAINTING a shoe spoon to serve as a soup ladle-holder (on her kitchen table) to prevent the soup from spotting her table?

No matter how much i try, i cannot seem to understand how to read my birth chart...
Can you help me!?

Birthday: 3-20-1997
I was born: 6:19pm
I was born in Michigan.
Gender: Girl.
I'm trying to figure out what my personality is according to the chart...
What sign i am most compatible with (relationship.).
Details like that.
http://astro.cafeastrology.com/cgi-bin/astro/natal?member=&recalc=&name=Taylor.&sex=f&d1day=3&d1month=3&d1year=1997&d1hour=18&d1min=29&citylist=Kalamazoo%2C+MI+%2826%29%2C+United+States&lang=en

Theres the chart... what does it mean?

Answer
* Okay, so looking at the chart, you have Virgo rising, Sun in Pisces and Moon in Capricorn. This is the core of your personality; who your are, how you express emotions and how you appear to other people. The Virgo rising gives other people the impression that you are shy, introverted, and sensitive to other people's feelings or vibes. You seem to be concerned about the details of life and may get caught up in them without watching yourself carefully. Your Pisces Sun is indeed sensitive to others, and sensitive to the unheard things in the world. You can be psychic, you can pick up on things most people don't. There is a difficulty with expressing all of your emotions, the Capricorn Moon is careful about who she shows her vulnerabilities to. She can be quite cool and withdrawn either when she is uncomfortable or when she is angry. You have an exact conjunction between Venus and Mercury. In english this means you have a gift of communication; you have a way with words. You can be quite charming and persuasive and a great salesperson. You love to communicate. Your Jupiter conjunction Uranus makes you feel that there are times when you are convinced you have the greatest idea known to man!! You feel inspired and your thoughts are original and innovative. You have a T Square with the Moon in Capricorn/Mars in Libra/ and Saturn in Aries. You need to look up the meaning of the TSquare in cardinal signs. The chart means much much more than what I've said, did you read the interpretations that came with the chart? The best way to understand the chart is to read, read, read. Look at the information on sites like cafeastrology-they have lots of info you can look up.

My boyfriend is turning 17 soon, and I still have to make him a birthday gift. I already know what I want to buy, but I would like to make him a few things as well. The only thing I know I don't want to make is anything with pictures in it.

Thanks

Answer
If you can knit or crochet, try making a scarf, or a sweater if you have the time.
Paint a t-shirt.
Put together a wooden shelf unit or step stool--you can usually buy kits to make these items.
Make him a clock--you can use a plate, piece of wood, or a cross-stitched or embroidered base and buy the clock works at your local craft store.

What are some birthday gifts for a male teacher that can be bought in a store?

AMP

My teachers birthday is in February and i want to get him something nice, to show him my appreciation for all that he has done for me.

Answer
Something he uses; from now till January, notice his things or his hobbies. A wallet can always be appreciated, as men are prone to warp their wallets in their back pockets till they get ratty. If he uses a tie, you can also do that, or a belt, if you can estimate his waist size. Anything that has to do with his hobbies is also a good gift. A personalized mug is cute, can be meaningful, and cost is manageable.

You can also get picture frames. If your class will pitch in, a digital frame is a nice idea; if you have a compilation of pix of him with the class and other faculty, you can load it in; in fact if you can be in cahoots with his family, you can load those too. You still have time to take lots of pix. Other ideas, see site below.

I need websites for Harry Potter crafts?

Hazel Grac

One of my friends, Ellie, is having a birthday soon. She loves Harry Potter and I am making her an all-Harry Potter gift. I am giving her my own version of a Hogwarts letter, and the Tales of Beedle the Bard. I'd like to add some other homemade gifts. Do you have any ideas (please include instructions)? Or do you know any websites that have Harry Potter crafts? Thanks!

Answer
I'm a huge Harry Potter fan too! Years ago I hosted a Harry Potter party for the release of the Half-Blood Prince, and I had a lot of fun hand-making decorations and sewing the costumes. You could make her a bottle of butterbeer and create your own label, or cover shoe boxes with wrinkled grocery bags and paint them to look like books from the novels (like "Hogwarts, A History" or "Voyages with Vampires" by Gilderoy Lockhart).

Otherwise, it's actually very easy to make a witch's hat without a brim like the costumes in the films. You only need a yard of cotton fabric, a long pipe cleaner, scissors, pins, and a sewing machine. You'll need to cut a long triangle with the measurement of the base equal to the circumference of your head plus 2" inches. Fold the triangle in half, pin, and sew up the long edge 1/2" away from the edge of the fabric. (Some fabric has a right side--a side where a print is more visible. If you are not using a solid fabric and your fabric has a right side, make sure you fold your triangle so the right sides are touching and the wrong side is facing you.) Sew again next to this line further into the fabric, leaving enough width to put the pipe cleaner through. This tunnel you'll make between your two stitches is called a casing. Cut the pipe cleaner so that it is an inch shorter than the casing. Insert the pipe cleaner through the casing. Fold up the bottom opening of the triangle twice towards the wrong side, 1/2" each time. Iron this fold and stitch all the way around. Make sure you don't accidentally sew your hat shut! Turn your hat inside-out and you're finished! Because of the pipe cleaner, you can shape the hat and wrinkle it any way you'd like.

I hope you have fun and that your friend loves the presents you make her! Here is a link to advice on how I threw the party and made the decorations and costumes. http://www.lovetosew.com/harrypotter.htm

I need suggestions for a charity birthday party for a 9 year old girl?

birthday gift ideas 9 year old daughter

birthday gift ideas 9 year old daughter image

D_Yon

I have been talking to my daughter about the idea of a charity party for a couple of years . I think now is the time to have one. Several of her friends have had b-day parties and it seemed to me that special emphasis' were placed on guests who brought the best/ expensive gifts. I am so over attending or should I say sending my children to those types of parties.
Her b-day is the second week of November.

Answer
Contact someplace that could use children's toys and ask them what they need. Then sent a note in the party invitation that all gifts will be donated to ____ and this is a list of suggested items.
(suggestions: shelters, boys and girls club, Salvation Army, Head Starts, Toys for Tots-run by police officers in our area, places that have after school programs, day cares, the hospital, etc.)

Or, if her birthday is close to Christmas and your town has an "Angel Tree" where they have cards that request gifts for needy children, you could send one of those cards to each guest and ask them to purchase the gift for that child instead of your daughter. (or a similar thing could be done for school supplies at the start of the school year) or some places take donations of Halloween costumes.

Or have the guests bring in beanies or small stuffed animals to be sent to "Beanies for Baghdad".

Or hold the party at an animal shelter. Get a list of things the animal shelter needs and have the guests bring that as their donation. Maybe the shelter has a project the guests could do as part of the party (depending on how old they are).

Is this old man a pervert?

on ... , Eighty Five Years Old Gifts, Posters, Cards, and other Gift Ideas
birthday gift ideas 70 year old man image
Q. Please give me your honest thoughts since I don't want to have a wrong opinion about this man.

I'm in my early 20's, and he's already in his 70's. I've known him for about 6, 7 years from my workplace, which is a university related environment. He is a very knowledgeable and well respected person (at least from what I know). He occasionally takes me out to lunch and always gives me my birthday presents and Christmas gifts over the years. They are not expensive gifts, mostly classical CD's, books, pictures of nature that he took and developed. I always returned the favor by buying something for him on his birthday and Christmas. He often mentioned that he wanted to help me enrich my knowledge, since he thought that my friends and the people I was around were narrow. He also offered to introduce me to some foreign exchange students around my age that he knew.

I always want to think of him like my mentor, since he is an intelligent man who knows a lot about science, arts, and languages. Most of our conversations were about things like that. I didn't want to talk to him too much about his or my personal life, except on a few occasions. Overall, I enjoyed his company, but I wasn't really comfortable when he often offered to hold my hand when we walked or gave me kisses on my cheeks when we said goodbye (I already gave him friendly hugs). I tried not to think too much about it since he had actually lived in Europe a couple years when he was younger, so maybe it became his habit. He sometimes joked that I would be his trophy girlfriend, and I always told myself that it was just a joke.

My ex-boyfriend broke up with me recently, so I was sad and shed tears when I talked about it. I needed people to listen, analyze, and give me their opinions about my break-up, and since I'd already bored my family and close friends about it, I decided to talk to him, just to hear another male perspective. I went over to his house around 8 - 8:30 p.m. after my shift from work. That was the first time I went to his house. He made me some tea, turned on some classical music, gave me a tour around the house. I saw some nude pictures of women on the walls, but I tried to brush if off. Finally, we sat down and talked about my problem. I didn't understand why he dimmed the lights, but then again, I tried to brush if off and focused on my story. By the time we talked about it, I was pretty much over the break-up and realized that it was not a big deal anymore. I wasn't acting angry, crying, or looking desperate at all. I just wanted to analyze things and get his opinion about my ex-boyfriend.

I talked about my relationship for a while. He asked me what type of man that I was looking for. I told him my preferences. He then asked me if I found him "sexy". I thought that was a joke, and didn't want to make him feel bad, so I said yes and keep on talking about my problem. After awhile, he asked me how the sex was. I was uncomfortable, just briefly told him that my ex was unable to give me an orgasm. I told him that I just wanted to know about my ex's feelings for me, since I knew that my ex was inexperienced and of course, must have not been that into me at the end of the relationship to actually try making it better. I tried to steer away from talking about sex for two or three times, but he kept on talking about how a man should "make love" to the woman. He went on and on about that for about 10 minutes, then suddenly, he talked about oral sex and told me that he had been able to give a woman multiple orgasms for 1.5 - 2 hours, and how the whole process only seemed like 5 minutes for him. He even went on to vaguely describe oral sex, but I won't type it here. The whole time, he said that he didn't want to turn me on, just wanted to give me an idea how a man should be able to do that. I forgot to add that he'd usually mentioned to take me to Europe and show me around. He even said that again that night, while just a couple minutes earlier, he'd told me that my idea of going to NYC alone with one of my close guy friend would make that guy think that it was an invitation to something else.

Nothing bad happened that night, I went home safely. I just received two emails from him, but I haven't replied yet. The first one was to thank me about my long and open conversation, and how he hoped he gave me some useful information. The second one was like "food for thoughts" (the ones that you usually find in chained emails about friendship, relationship...). He told me to keep in touch in both emails.

I don't know what to think. It'd be sad if I cut all contacts with him and he is actually a good person. At the same time, I don't want to put myself in danger if he is not.

Thank you for reading and helping.

Answer
well i wouldn't cut of all relations with that man, i'd just ease off and make sure that if you spend time with him it's in a public place and maybe find another boyfriend so that you won't look available.

Alright yall, I got an iTunes gift card for my birthday and as I don't use iTunes much (90% of my songs are CD) and I've run out of song ideas. I go to look up something and then remember, oh nevermind I have that! SO I need a little help here from all yall country music fans.....I need some song suggestions! Preferably country music from the 80's and 90's, but am not opposed to the 70-60-50's and up. More of the traditional stuff and the classics. I'd rather not get the newer stuff since I can just turn on the radio to hear the same thing 5x's lol, especially since I'm a fan of the older country. Anyhow, lay out some song suggestions if you have any please and thank you!

for my birthday gift my bf gave me a cruise to the bahamas. It's on February 2, 2014 & it's already bought and paid for. He can't return it. I don't have a passport and my driver's license expired. I obviously need to get the passport as soon as possible and renewing my license can take 2-3 weeks for the new one to arrive and im afraid i'll be cutting it to close for the passport. It just expired Nov 26, 2013...will they still except that as proof of ID if I give them my social security card and credit card or will i need other forms? PLEASE HELP i have no idea what to do.

Answer
An original documentary evidence is required...i.e. your birth certificate[ or certified true copy]....but does it really take 2-3 weeks " to arrive" ? In where I am. passports can be renewed within half a working day [ that is 4 hours].... Perhaps if you explain the urgency, they can speed it up, or issue to you an emergency travel document for that one specific journey.....

Answer
You can not use an expired drivers license, however secondary identification can be used. For details: http://travel.state.gov/passport/get/secondary_evidence/secondary_evidence_4314.html

Her birthday is on 6/27 and my gift for her is a trip from Los Angeles to Florida on 7/15 - 7/20.

I dont want to just tell her, "your birthday gift is a trip to florida."

I would like to make it more fun, and special for her to learn about her tirp-gift. Any ideas or suggestions? She'll be 31.

Answer
Pretty simple.

Just buy her something else and take her out to some dinner somewhere.

Then before you tell her that she's going to Florida, tell her the thing you gave her was only part one of her birthday surprises.

What is a good birthday present for a 16 year old boy that does not cost a ton of money?

J L

My friend's son is turning 16 this week and I have no idea what to get him. My kids are much younger so I am not sure what is an appropriate gift for a teenage boy. Also, I wanted to keep it under $30 if possible.

Answer
How about any of these, they shouldn't cost a lot in stores.

what would a teenage soon to be father normally have to pay for the child?

my girlfriend is pregnant with my child. we want to keep it. but we want to know the financial part of it before we make our final decision. i am 14 she is 15. and we have no idea what to do

Answer
Child support is about 1/3 of your income until the child is 18. I'm not sure if you'll have to pay now but you will have to pay when you turn 18.

I hope your relationship goes well, but people do grow and change a lot between 14 and adulthood. You guys might have completely different lives and interests when you're 25 or 30. It can happen that you two stay together forever but most people do not end up with the person they went out with at age 14/15.

I would consider the following whenmaking your decision:

- Where will you two live with your child in a few years? I am assuming you will be living with your parents until you're 18 but after that you are an adult with a family, so you'll need your own place. I would search Craig's List in your town to see what the average rent for an apartment in your area goes for. Make up a pretend budget. Add car payments and gas expenses, auto insurance (ask your parents what they pay, then add a little more because younger drivers have to pay a higher insurance premium), groceries for three people, utilities, (utilities means your heat, electric bill, water, cable bill if you watch TV and use the internet), cell phone bill if you have one, now add baby food, diapers, clothing health care for the baby, and day care costs.

- Most full time jobs that a teenager can get without a college degree or a good vocational training program do not pay enough for a single person to live comfortably on their own, never mind supporting a family. You might be able to scrape by in a really cheap area where the cost of living is low but otherwise you may be caught in a welfare trap. What are you and your girlfriend's career plans? Ask yourself if you'll be realistically able to go to college or complete a training program in your field of choice while taking care of a baby full time. A minimum wage job is great for a teenager but you don't want to be still stuck working at one when you are grown up with bills to pay, those kinds of jobs just don't cut it.

- Child care - Do you have a plan for who is going to watch the child every day while you guys finish high school, and hopefully go on to college? Keep in mind that you will have to be working a lot in addition to your classes. Books, tuition, car expenses and auto insurance are major expenses for teenagers with part time jobs. Most jobs you can get at age 15 or 16 pay minimum wage (cashiering, salesperson at the mall, bus boy or waiter...all good jobs for teenagers but they don't pay a lot) Day care is very expensive, adult working households with two parents working pretty good middle class jobs often have trouble affording child care. Did one of your parents volunteer to stay home and provide child care for your baby, for free? Some teenage parents are lucky and have that option, but if your parents have their own jobs you'll be paying for full time day care. I would definitely call the local day cares and get pricing and see if that is something that is affordable to you.

- Keep in mind that this baby won't stay a baby...he or she will be about six years old when you are still barely 21. You will either be finishing up college or if you choose a trade you will probably still be an apprentice just starting out not making much money yet. Now the child will be in school and asking to join youth hockey, ballet, karate, piano lessons, etc. These things cost a lot of money. He will need nice clothes for school, a lot more expensive than little footie pajamas for infants. He will be invited to birthday parties for classmates and have to bring a gift. He'll want a bike and the video games and toys that all his friends have, lunch money, money for field trips, trips to the movies with friends, etc. Not saying you have to spoil him and buy him everything, but I am assuming you want to be able to provide some of these sorts of things for your child so he or she can have a comfortable childhood.

I would definitely work up a mock budget with the costs of all these basic expenses before you make your decision.

Should I give cash for my kid cousins for Christmas?

Damien

Is giving money to kids (ages 5 - 19) a good idea? I don't want to teach them to be greedy, but I still remember what it was like to be in college with no job. Now I'm still in college, but with a part-time job, so now the world has changed for me.

Answer
I think giving cash to your kid cousins is a pretty good idea. Possibly other relatives will inundate them with "stuff", and cash could be a welcome relief.

To make the gift less "greedy", you might include some tiny thing along with the cash: a Christmas poem, an appropriate, friendly Bible verse, a Christmas cookie or candy cane. Also, put the cash into a nice card. If you want, you can include in the card a short, personal note to each kid.

You might also consider how much you will give each kid--or will you give each person the same amount? I wouldn't give $50 to a five-year-old, and $5 may seem too little for a 19-year-old. You could give to each one the amount equal or near-equal to their age ($5 to the five-year-old, $19 or $20 to the 19-year-old), or give $10-$15 to each person.

I'm glad you're motivated by compassion: "I still remember what it was like to be in college with no job." It's good to give to those who have less than you do. For example, I'm fairly poor, and my brother's girlfriend has given me cash gifts for Christmas or my birthday (Dec 21) for a few years now. I appreciate it!

Merry Christmas to you and yours. He is born!

How do I explain to my son why Santa didn't bring him the only gift he asked for?

My son is 5, almost 6 and he asked Santa for a remote control Iron Man for Christmas. It is too much money and bills come first. How do I explain to him why Santa didn't bring the gift he wanted. I know with the questions he's been asking its about time to tell him the truth about Santa but what do I do for now? I know I can tell him he's not going to get everything he wants, but anyone have a way to explain this to him that he will understand? Thanks!

Answer
Please don't do what others are suggestions about telling him Santa isn't real. (roll of eyes)

Kids learn disappointment as a part of growing up and sometimes we don't get what we ask Santa for. We all have gone through that.

I remember one year I wanted a robot to clean my room. That is all I really asked for. We had a big box under the tree that sounded like metal when shaken. My parents kept telling me Santa couldn't bring a robot in his sleigh but I was sure my parents bought me one. We were allowed to open one gift on Christmas eve. My parents kept telling me it wasn't a robot but with all my heart I KNEW it was. It wasn't. It was a reading lamp to hang over my bed. I still remember the disappointment I was about 8 I think but I got over it.

I like the idea someone said to tell him Santa ran out. So maybe each time your son mentions it you can say "Well, honey you know Santa visits a lot of kids. A lot of little boys want Iron Man too so Santa could run out of them." but also say "Santa knows what you like so even if he can't bring your Iron Man I am sure he will bring you other toys you will love."

If you can maybe let him peek online or in a catalog at a toy you did get him. Show it to him and try to get him excited about that toy instead. Tease him and say "Maybe Santa will get it for you." This way you move his focus to the new toy.

I've done that with our kids when they want something we just can't afford or that I'm sure they will be bored with it. You know a cool toy not worth the money. It does work at least for my kids.

Plus maybe you can get him the Iron Man for his birthday when the price is lower.

How much money should I spend on my Son's first birthday?

D4rkG0dd3s

I was thinking about spending about $100 on 1 big gift (Fisher price gymnastics bounce and spin zebra), and 4-5 smaller gifts (Peek-a-boo Monkey jack-in-the-box, and some others), and spending about $50 on the fixings for red velvet cupcakes, and decorations. What do you think?

Answer
Walmart makes great Cakes and Cupcakes. My son had a Spongebob theme. The cake had Spongebob and Patrick on there, They were like 4 inches tall, like the size of a smaller action figure and tons of color. Under $20 for the theme cakes and it is a 1/4 sheet cake. feeds like 20 or less. You can also get a smaller theme cake and cup-cake combo. That is under $20 and it is about 12 cup-cakes and med size round cake. Or even better for his brothers first B-Day we got a 30 cup-cake cake and that had an elmo theme all the charecters on it with tons of color too. It is 30 cup-cakes and it can be a 6cup-cake by 5 cup-cake or any shape you want, but it looks like a cake and is made out of all cup-cakes you can pull away from the whole mass of cup-cakes. Price is great there for B-Day stuff, but we usually get a giant balloon and some regular smaller ones from the local party store. We got a Dora balloon for his 2 year old "girl" friends B-Day and it was bigger than her. All the guests loved that idea too, Kids love balloons.
He's one, but he only has one first Birthday and it is once a year for birthdays it's not like he has a birthday every month. Like all the other holidays, they only come once a year so make the best out of them. I am not saying go out and spend $800 on a first b-day but get what you think he would really like or what you would really like him to have. It's an unforgettable event and it only will happen once, make the most out of it.

I have been dating this guy for 2 months and his birthday is comming up. He is a beer drinking͵ truck driving, mans man. He likes pocket knives but i know nothing about brands or quality. Is there a store in san diego that sells quality pocket knives and maybe even engrave them. Or some otger birthday gift ideas would be helpful. No online only stores please.

Answer
There are many different kinds of knives ..... pocket, honing, boning, hunting, etc.
There are many different sizes of knives as well. If he has a pocket knife right now then you should look at the knife and determine its size and type. Is it spring loaded?
Does it open using a thumb loop? Is it a single blade or multi-blade? What does it weigh? All of these things are important as he is used to carry a particular knife and he feels comfortable with that type of knife. The best brand of knife is a Kershaw.
