Is this a good gift for a reader?

My boyfriend and I love to read and he does not have a bookcase yet. So, for his B-Day I am going to get him a 6 foot bookcase from Ikea.

I will also be buying him this list of books:

-The Outsiders (he loved the movie, has yet to read the book)
-Do Androids Dream of Electric Sleep? (he loved blade runner but has yet to read the book)
-Watchmen (he likes comics and graphic novels)
-Fight Club (loves Palahniuk, loved the movie, hasn't read the book)
-World War Z (he has read it, he loved it but does not own it)

Is this a good idea for his birthday gift? i already have his Christmas in the works so its going to have be for his b-day.

I am also considering throwing in a booklight.

Brilliant idea! I have a couple of book lights myself and they are a godsend to read when the husband wants to sleep as they only light my page! and I take one on my nightshift incase I have to be in the patients room. I also invested in a book holder too great for propping books and hold down pages in the wind when reading on the beach as I do!

Present Ideas for Best Friend's Sweet 16?

So I need gift ideas for my best friends birthday. It is coming up soon, so concerts, and other big events won't work. She is a runner, low-maintance, doesn't ever spend much on herself, and so I want to suprise her with something awesome! Last year, we went and got pedicures together, so that's out. All ideas are appreciated!!

AHH! two of my friends are twins, and i play soccer lax and track with them!
I got them/made tye dye half cab socks and sports bras, really cute water bottles and a few pairs of running shorts (we love running shorts) get her running shorts.

at my school, people tie balloons to your backpack on your birthday so everyone knows. and brownies, cupcakes, cookies, ect. also, really early in the morning, go to her house and chalk her driveway, and tp/streamer her house (get parents permission!) and surprise her with breakfast--we usually do smoothie and donuts. On my birthday, i woke up to 6 of my friends banging pots and pans and singing happy birthday. at like 5 am. it was AWFUL but great and really thoughtful. :) then we went to breakfast
