What is a good gift for an aspiring video game designer?

I have a good friend that wants to be a video game designer and I'm trying to find a good gift for his birthday that will help him along with that. He's not much of a reader, and most of the stuff that the books have, he's already researched. I'm hoping there's maybe a software I could buy or somewhere I could take him to meet game designer type people, or something of that sort that I could do for him. Anyone have any ideas?

A trip to Japan XD Nah Game Maker 8 is a great, easy to use but flexible game designer. You could get him the pro version for about 15 dollars but it depends what stage he is at(Game Maker might be a bit easy).Look around for game developing tools if you want, but they can get quite expensive so it really depends on how much you are willing to pay.

I need to make something for my moms birthday and it has to be special because she's turning 40 and it's going to be really amazing because we are going to see her whole family for the first time in like 5-7 years and i want to make her something. Like i need it to be small but really heartfelt. I made her a wonderful card and now all i need is a wonderful present. Just you know, something simple, easy, but heartfelt.

You can get one of those collage frames, they are the ones with the many openings, some have openings of different sizes and some are all the same sizes. You can get one of them and put pictures of you and your mom in the openings, all except 2 of them. In the last two openings, write something in one, like Happy Birthday mom and something to her, the date, etc, and for the last opening, take a picture on the day you give it to her, of just you and your mom together so the most updated picture of you and her will be in there. It's like a scrapbook for her a wall, she can hang it where she wants and look at it when she wants, and will LOVE it! It's something YOU put together of YOU and her, of YOUR favorite pictures of the two of you. I'm sure she will love it!

You can also do a frame that says #1 Mom with a picture of you and her.

Bath and shower gels
Pajamas and a Robe
Earrings
Bracelet
Hand lotion and body creams
Magazine subscription to her favorite magazine
Take her out, get your nails done together, then take her to lunch!
Tickets to an event, show, movie, etc.
Take her out to dinner
Cook her, her favorite dinner and dessert, and serve her

What does she like? What does she do in her spare time? Her hobbies? Those are the things that should help you know what to get her.

Books, I know you've bought them, but as an avid reader, if that's what she likes.
